FROM THE SGWS A D M I N I S T R AT I V E T E A M L E A D E R Dear Friends of Spring Garden: We have the good fortune of being in a time of renewal here at Spring Garden. In celebrating our 30th year, we have reaffirmed our commitment to providing the highest quality of education for our children; an education that enriches, edifies and develops self-assured learners. To ensure that the next 30 years are bountiful, each pillar of the community has made a commitment to strengthen the programmatic, financial and infrastructure components of the school. These efforts include a new administrative structure, diversifying our revenue streams and collaborating with new partners in our community. Each endeavor is focused on the longterm health and sustainability of the school. Each of you is an integral part of this renewal. Your participation in this evening’s event exemplifies the commitment to community that makes our school such a wonderful place. Thank you for all that you do to support Spring Garden. Best to you, John P. Bailey Administrative Team Leader
FROM THE FOUNDERS OF S P R I N G G A R D E N WA L D O R F S C H O O L Welcome to the annual auction to benefit Spring Garden Waldorf School. This event began as an idea by parents to add not only financial gain, but to also build community support and recognition. Over the years, it has taken many forms and has been held in several locations including our current building. Each event is influenced by the leadership and inspiration of those directly responsible for it’s development and realization. We ask our volunteers to keep costs down, make it fun and make money and every year they deliver. We are grateful to all those volunteers who have spent countless hours to create this wonderful event. The planning for the following year begins when the last item is auctioned and the final bill is calculated. The planning continues throughout the year assessing and evaluating in preparation for the next event. Each successive event has been built by the experience and skills of those who have guided this event over the years. Without their dedication and love, this auction would not have continued, grown, and evolved. While the auction has changed, we have been inspired by the creativity expressed by each team who took on the challenge of this event. The auction plays a significant roll in the life of our school, besides the joy of bidding and winning or watching a lively exchange of out-bidding one another, we enjoy an evening of fun together. The auction proceeds support the operating budget and curriculum enhancement. We would like to thank all who have contributed or participated in planning and execution of this 2010-2011 auction. May we continue to grow and be blessed. Love, Jennell Woodard & Marie Paul

F R OM T H E A N N UA L B E N E F I T C H A I R Dear Friends & Supporters, Welcome to Come Together – Heads, Hearts & Hands. We are pleased that you have chosen to join us tonight and celebrate the 30th anniversary of Spring Garden Waldorf School. It truly is a time for us to come together and celebrate as a community, reflecting upon the past, present and future of our school. As you will see tonight, it is amazing how the vision, hard work and dedication of our founders has brought us to where we are today. We extend or deepest gratitude to all the members of the community and committee that participated in turning tonight into a reality. Their hard work and passion has been amazing. Without each and every one of you, the event would not be a success. Your very presence tonight is a sign of your support of our organization and the Spring Garden community. The annual benefit is the school’s largest fundraising event of the year. Donor support is critical to enrich the academic program in order to provide a quality Waldorf education to our children. Your financial generosity is vital to the future of the school and education we all so firmly believe in. Remember, every student will benefit from your generosity. We encourage you to patronize and utilize the services of the businesses that have so generously supported our annual benefit through advertising, donations and sponsorships. Without their support and the support of our community, tonight could not have happened. Once again, thank you for your support. We hope you enjoy the 30th anniversary celebration of Spring Garden Waldorf School.

9919. Custom Lazure Painting for One Room
Rudolf Steiner encouraged artists to paint walls with transparent radiant color where color would feel as though it were in the space and not just on the wall. This provided a pure experience of color as though one could “spiritually pass through the walls.” Lazure is layers of paint prepared nearly as thin and transparent as watercolor, consisting of water, binder, and pigment. It is applied with a rhythmical movement using large brushes. The final color is achieved using varied colors applied in several layers, over a white surface. Light passes through these thin layers of color and is reflected back, giving a pure color experience. Flat, monotone colors are tiring on the eyes while color with variation of hue and tone stimulate and balance the activity of the eyes. The lazure method offers a creative and conscientious use of color that provides nourishment for the eye and the soul. It can achieve aesthetically beautiful results AND act as a powerful healing influence amid the stress and tension of modern life. Jennell Woodard and Marie Lim will masterfully transform one average size room in your home using the Lazure technique. Restrictions: Average room = approximately 200 sq. ft., non-vaulted ceilings. Service includes one coat of primer. If additional primer is required, buyer is responsible. Paint is included. Services to be arranged with Jennell Woodard & Marie Lim. Value: $600.00 Thanks to: Jennell Woodard and Marie Lim
