Jill attended an MBCT teacher development retreat run by Dr Patrizia Collard and Helen Stephenson in order to gain a greater understanding of the structure of the eight weeks Mindfulness courses. He has also completed mindfulness courses run by Dr Karen Neil in Beeston and Michael Chaskalson in London. In addition to his mindfulness teaching, Jake works part-time as a teacher of Religious Studies and Philosophy at Bilborough College in Nottingham. He has Masters degrees in Philosophy (Sussex) and Buddhist Studies (Sunderland) and completed a year-long foundation in Counselling Skills at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute.

Meditation can reduce anxiety and stress and help control problems such as pain, difficulty sleeping, tiredness, high blood pressure. Studies have shown that it can increase the immune system, fertility and general mental health.

Scientists have discovered that regular meditation appears to actually increase the size of the brain. In the latest research scans revealed significantly larger amounts of grey matter in people who had been mediating long term. (MRI) showed their hippocampus, a key area of the brain associated with memory and learning – was bigger.

The class runs throughout the year, suitable for complete beginners or for those with some experience of meditation. I run private courses, recommending group sizes of 5 - 5 people. You can provide your own space or I can arrange this.
