Design Brief:

For this project, I will be transforming this dreary land into an area that is more modernised, and appropriate for its’ supported surroundings, which appear to have been previously updated. This area is filled with multiple different aspects that I would like to utilize and incorporate into my idea, such as:

• A diverse range of people

• Various types of families with different household dynamics;

• To various types of individuals that all range in different factors; such as age race, gender and so on. Incorporating these factors, I would like to present my idea to create:

 A Leisure Centre, featuring entertainment and sports to further support people’s wellbeing.

 The theme I will be using: Geometric and Assembly.

Specifications

Objective: My objective is to create a leisure centre that appears to have a lot of contrast in colours, but also something that incorporates the surrounding environments, which could include further modern buildings to upgrade the area.

Requirements:

• Disabled access.

• Parking areas.

• Café.

• Changing rooms.

• Washrooms.

• Environmentally friendly.

Target audience:

• Reception.

• Spaces for all ages.

• Fun activities.

• Eco-friendly power e.g., solar panels.

• Lounge area.

The building will have multiple different sectors to be inclusive for different age ranges, from 4+ to 65+. However, the gym area would only be open to 16 and above to minimize any safeguarding risks and provide those older

My location is the Belhus Country Park.

The area is currently open to the public, which allows individuals to have a network of walking and cycling routes. Additionally, the area has also had previous plans for extra woodland and habitats that were built for various animals, on both the land and in the nearby lake. I feel like this is an important factor to include, as I would like to include nature as much as possible given that this is also a rural area, to further support the existing environment.

Currently in the area, there are no nearby leisure centres, however it is also located next to the M25; this would would allow for greater accessibility and with the combination of multiple pathways for cyclists and walkers, it would be the perfect place to improve and upgrade.

Primary Location Pictures

Due to the area being a clear canvas, it provides a lot of space for a multiple range of designs, for example different elevations of the building. There are some possible limitations for this, for example the telephone pole, which could get in the way of the plan. In addition to this, the long road has great access for cars and other types of transport, this means it can still allow for the public to use the other parts of the surrounding area.
