Agricultural Vocational High School in Bandung Architecture Design Studio IV (2019) Tutor: Ir. Indra Budiman S. M.Sc. Ph.D Vocational schools in Indonesia have been viewed as less prestige, less recommended to the states’ regional high school due to lack of competence of their notable alumnis and often-questioned curriculum system, according to UNICEF Indonesia. One of the way this is seen is through the school buildings. The typical courtyard configuration responding limited space, which often creates a sense of confinement and authoritarian education, justify the need for a well-designed vocational school buildings.
“Lumbung Ilmu” is located in Parongpong, Bandung, in a steeply contoured topography of Daarut Tauhid EcoPesantren, an integrated educational complex. The aim here is to create a vocational school that responds the site’s topography, as well as creating space that reflect the hands-on and nature-centered education of agricultural vocational high school.

Community Gallery and Workshop in Bandung Architecture Design Studio IV (2018) Tutor: Dr.Eng. M. Donny Koerniawan S.T., M.T. The context of urban community has been a very relevant topic of the twenty first century, increasing urbanization had contribute either positive city growth or unemployment, especially for the young people. The emerging issues of under developed settlements and slum areas has risen a question in the building industry: how to create a space that accomodates the people’s interests and turn in to something contributive to the city? Community Gallery and Workshop is located in Jl. ABC, one of the most
economy-packed streets in Bandung, filled with electronic vendors. The Cikapundung district itself is also filled with culinary destination, be it a street food vendor or a start-up retail cafe, and visual art crafters, exhibiting and selling their arts on the streets. The aim of the project is to unity the people through creative entrepreneurship and creativity. The designed co-working spaces and exhibit function targets to make their work recognizable thus create sense of communal ownership of the building.

Regional Governmental Office of Sumur Bandung District Architecture Design Studio IV (2018) Tutor: Dr.Eng. M. Donny Koerniawan S.T., M.T. Sumur Bandung is a district located in the middle of Bandung and is known mainly for its abundance of greeneries, either from the pre-designed district open parks or the army of huge trees. The district’s origins dates back to the colonial ages, where the place is known by its fertile soil and water. Unfortunately, the existing regional governmental office didn’t reflect this context well, since the design have to compromise with the limited space. Parking is non existing, and the room configuration has a lot of alleys and
impromptu rooms, indicating the lack function analysis in the design. This re-designed governmental office of Sumur Bandung District focuses on sustainability issues as well as creating spaces for community activity. A hope for the design is to build an office that not only accomodates the staff’s needs, but also create interactions for the people while also reflecting Sumur Bandung as a green district.

One of the design issue focuses on the application of Jayaboard-manufactured products to support the design concept. As an anti-earthquake building, the design focuses on making the structure symmetrical. In the interior of the house, three synchronized systems are applied. Ceilings, drywalls, and wet area (including plumbing) are managed in a way to protect the structure and maintain their qualities.
