PROPOSED DESIGN OF LEMP PARK SYRACUSE, NY
Design Statement: Lemp Park is located in Downtown Syracuse and is sorrounded by lots of Parking lots and Urban Built Environments. It has the potential to be a well-designed green open space in the heart of the city. Observations of the Park shows needs of adequate seating area and needs of more designed green spaces connected to pedestrian pathways.
ADVANCED DESIGN STUDIO, FALL 2017 The concept of the proposed design is “Connectivity”. The word not only addresses the connection of Green Spaces to Pedestrian Pathways, but it also resembels the Connecting Corridor buses which connects different parts of the city to the downtown. For this purpose, all three alternatives are proposing a strong network which is based on the People’s Movement Pattern that connects various ways to one united gathering center in the middle of the park.
PROPOSED DESIGN OF LEMP PARK SYRACUSE, NY
Entertainment as one of the main goals of the design, is considered in several spaces in the site. Such as a MonitorProjection which provides people with an open air cinema and a painting wall in kids play ground.

HISTORY/ FOOD/ SOUTHSIDE The story of food is embedded in the complexities of place and intertwined with the history of people. Food draws patterns in the landscape; these processes and practices can be traced through the changing circumstances of time and place and the movement of people. While the Southside neighborhood currently lacks a community supportive food system, its hidden food culture can in many ways be tied to the original farming landscapes of the country and the enslaved people

that worked them. Food is an identifying facet of culture and is expressive of the challenges and hardships of the environment. Growing food and cooking become methods by which people adapt and address their challenges through the use of strategies to be resourceful, resilient, and economically fortified.

Building relationships and establishing communication between various members and groups of the community creates opportunity to share knowledge, resources, and establish a support network. There are opportunities to expand the amount of
production spaces through the activation of vacant lots and inclusion of residential backyards.
The distribution of food and the movement of people creates an important composition of exchanges and interactions. Distribution patterns should evolve in conjunction with changes in the local landscape and incorporate the community and people in its exchanges and interactions.
These flows are important to trace because they reveal the connections and gaps between people and food in the Southside neighborhood. THE SUPP ER C IN SOC TRODUC LUB IAL E E ATIN S A G PL AC

SYRACUSE FOREST AND PUBLIC ART INTERVENTION MASTER PLAN
FINAL MLA DESIGN STUDIO, FALL 2018
SYRACUSE, NY
There are a lot of existing opportunities for urban forestry that are common between all the school sites in Syracuse, NY. As the map layers in the right figure show the canory trees and open lawns are a great opportunities if they are used in a amnaged way. Also the land cover layer shows that the zone next to all sites is residential and that can be considered that future greening and forestry can be beneficial for the residents living next to the schools and park. Salem Hyde elementary school is located at Wadsworth Street, north east side of Syracuse. It has about 174,000 square feet of open lawn that is the best potential place for future urban forest zone. Site is sorrounded by Residential areas and a hospital next to the west side of site. Regarding the adjucent streets with crosswalks and sidewalks and safety signs, site is pedestrian friendly. Future green infrastructure and forest development is proposed in the north side of the site. The south east zone is considered for future art intervention with a connection to the community center. Webster elementary school is located at Wadsworth Street, north east side of Syracuse. It has about 90,000 square feet of open lawn that is the best potential place for future urban forest zone. Site is sorrounded by “Residential” land use zones. Regarding the adjucent streets with crosswalks and sidewalks and safety signs, site is pedestrian friendly. Future green infrastructure and forest development is proposed in the east side of the site. The west zone is considered for future art intervention and can provide a connection with the existing playground. Dr James P Burlingham Memorial Park is located at Dorchester Ave, north east side of Syracuse. It has about 110,000 square feet of open lawn that is the best potential place for future urban forest zone. Site is sorrounded by “Residential” land use zones. Regarding the adjacent streets with crosswalks and sidewalks and safety signs, site is pedestrian friendly. Future green infrastructure and forest development is proposed in the north side and middle of the site and can provide an appropriate screening for the residential area. Also the north east
zone is considered for future art intenvention to improve the street access point to the site. Salem Hyde elementary school is located at Durston Ave, north east side of Syracuse. It has about 48,000 square feet of open lawn that is the best potential place for future urban forest zone. Site is sorrounded by “Residential” land use zones. Regarding the adjucent streets with crosswalks and sidewalks and safety signs, site is pedestrian friendly. Future green infrastructure and forest development is proposed in the north side of the site and can provide a connection with the existing playground and the east zone that is considered for future art intenvention. That makes a coherent green site with school building in with a strong art designed accesses.

TEHRAN,IRAN
This vacant lot is located in center of the Tehran which is a really crowded area. The concentration is to bring back the vitality to the area and the neighborhood. Most of the spaces in the neighborhood are commercial but there are lots of residential blocks close to the vacant lot which are suffering from the noise and air pollution of the adjucant streets. The park is designed in a way to include physical activity and play grounds and pavilion and fountain areas. SPORT FIELDS

This set of designs are presenting four different gateways along Empire State Trail in New York State that are submitted for a grant proposal. 1. Tonawanda Gateway Tonawanda gateway offers The western Gateway for the Empire State Trail. The design includes: Standard Empire State Trail amenities package, that includes kiosks, benches, bike racks, blazing, interpretive signage thoughtfully arranged into a monumental plaza space. 2. Lockport As the EST travels through Lockport it will parallel the Erie Canal, exiting at Canal Street before turning Right onto Church Street.
As part of this proposal the existing pedestrian plaza on Canal Street will be expanded and improved. The space will be enhanced with a donor recognition feature along with Empire state trail gateways features, benches, bike racks and kiosks. 3. Devil’s Hole This gateway and road improvement include the restoration of the existing stairs, construction of an improved overlook trail and “gateway” features. Additionally the Shoreline trail will be extended north through this the Park and a gateway will be developed that will define this location and provide trail users and park visitors additional seating and interpretive opportunities.

CCDR RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION, FALL2017,SPRING 2017
SYRACUSE,NY
The Center for Community Design Research (CCDR) is an outreach program within ESF Department of Landscape Architecture. I have been a part of CCDR for doing a Community Education Program called “Visioning Voices” as a community organizer and facilitator. The Visioning Voices Speaker Series events are open to those who want to learn about how to make positive change in their neighborhood, with focus on planning and design.
We encouraged community members and neighborhood organizations city-wide to participate in these events and take lessons learned back to your community. Each event consisted of a series of activities to familiarize participants with the host neighborhood and learn about the factors that affect our health and quality of life. Photos below are for September 2017, for the event on “Eastside” neighborhood at Syracuseabout Parks and Recreational Places.
