represents the sun path on the site. experiencing shade from the highway wall (8am-11am) and remains exposed during the rest of the day.
represents the movement of people on the site. currently, a basketball court, shows density in the court area and flow of people entering and moving around the site.
represents the views that are available from inside the site. open views, show a possible design strategy. while the partially covered area is blocking out the construction noise. completely blocked is the highway area/
represents the noise levels on the site. mainly the noise level rises as the height from the surrounding highway and construction sites. lower levels experience noise the residential area.
represents the wind flow on the site. coming from the west and rising up the highway wall. the wall also blocks the incoming channel winds from the high-rise towers.
Conceptualizing a basic understanding of designing architecture on a site. exploiting the unique quality of a site, informs the placement of building and shapes the inside-outside relationship. Visualizing architecture as part of the city and contributes to the making of public spaces.

RIBBON CHAPEL - HIROSHI NAKAMURA & NAP.
LAURENT HOUSE - FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT
BY JOINING TWO SPIRAL STAIRWAYS SO THAT ONE SUPPORTS THE OTHER, IT FORMS A FREE STANDING STRUCTURE. JUST AS TWO LIVES GO THROUGH T WISTS AND TURNS BEFORE UNITING AS ONE, THE TWO SPIRALS SEAMLESSLY CONNECT AT THEIR 15.4M SUMMIT TO FORM A SINGLE RIBBON. AT THE CORE OF THEIR MOVEMENT IS A CHAPEL WHERE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED THE BRIDE AND GROOM ARE WAITING.
DESIGNED FOR A CLIENT WHO WAS DISABLED. FLOW CIRCULATION ON WHEELCHAIR THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING. ALL SPACES AND FURNITURE ARE DESIGNED AT LOWER THAN STANDARD EYE LEVEL HEIGHTS.

design concept THE DESIGN CONCEPT FOR THIS BUILDING IS INTERNAL GARDEN OR INTERNAL, WHERE ALL THE SPACES INSIDE THE SITE FOCUS THEIR AT TENTION TO THE INTERNAL COURTYARD WITHIN THE SITE. TO ENHANCE THIS EXPERIENCE, THE EXTERIOR OF THE SITE IS COVERED WITH GREENERY. THIS HELPS BLOCK OUT THE INFLUENCES OF THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT AND ALLOWS THE USER TO EXPERIENCE THE SITE ITSELF. THIS CONCEPT IS DERIVED FROM ALL THE EXTERNAL FACTORS THAT SHOULD BE BLOCKED OUT FROM THE SITE EXPERIENCE. SUCH AS THE HIGHWAY AND CONSTRUCTION NOISE FROM THE SURROUNDING. BY FOCUSING ON THE INTERNAL GARDEN, THE USER CAN BE COMPLETELY ISOLATED FROM THE HUSTLE OF THE CITY CENTER AND ENTER A DIFFERENT STATE OF MIND. THE ENTRANCE IS A MAIN OPEN TRANSITIONAL SPACE, WHERE THE USER IS ABLE TO WALK THROUGH AND ARRIVE AT THE URBAN PARK ON THE OTHER SIDE.
RADIAL ENTERING THE BUILDING FROM ONE ZONE TO SPILL OUT TO ALL THE SPACES. THIS FLOW IS CONTROLLED FROM THROUGH THE INTERNAL COURTYARD.
DATUM CENTRAL FOCUS OF THE BUILDING FALLS ON THE CENTRAL COURTYARD. ALL THE ROOMS ARE GIVEN VIEWS TO LOOK INTO THE COURTYARD AND BLOCK OUT ALL THE EXTERNAL IMPACTS.
