BRAND IDENTITY PERSONAL PROJECT |
Challenge : To create a brand identity. Solution : The logo for ‘Paws’ came about while sketching my pet cat. The logo has been developed into a fictitious brand identity for a retail brand that deals in products for cats and cat lovers. The corporate stationery for Paws reflects the playful yet professional nature of the company. Costs are kept at a minimum by having single colour alternatives for all creatives. In my vision for ‘Paws’, there are 4 standard colours which are employed by the different departments of the company. For example, yellow for the marketing department, blue for the design department and so on. Care has been taken to allow the identity to be diverse without diluting the brand image.

Challenge : To design a logo and basic stationery for a local designer’s boutique that reflects the modern, upmarket vibe of the boutique. Solution : Rose Hip being a designer boutique that tailors to individual taste required a contemporary logo, neither too indian nor too western. This is achieved by using an ornamental motif, often used in designer indian clothes but in a classy combination of black, grey and pink for a modern feel. An element of the motif can used independently and provides flexibility as it can be used against either a black or white background.

Artseek is a local start up that promotes independent music. The brief was to create a simple, visually attractive poster that would reach out to those sharing similar interests.
LIFELINE HOSPITALS
This poster for a fictitious hospital aims to highlight the efficiency of service at this particular hospital. It was created for a poster design assignment during my second year of Visual Communication.

Challenge : To design a package for a luxury product. Solution : The cover of the perfume came about by experimenting with my version of a Molly Brill painting on Photoshop. The abstract design complements the mysterious, intense cover. The colour green is synonymous with envy and was the natural choice for the package.

Challenge : To design a brochure that entails the crux of the online bike portal, www.choosemybike.in Solution : A clean, swiss style brochure using large font, solid colours and a structured layout provide easy readability and an attractive appearance. The colours used are in line with the brand identity and the colours used on the website.

Challenge : To design a magazine a 16 page magazine as part of a college assignment. Solution : ‘Spirit’ is an art and lifestyle magazine targeted at teenagers. This 16 page magazine is brimming with the latest in music, fashion, food and art. Designed using the grid system, it is easy to read and visually appealing.

As part of my training during my time at ID studio, I improved my Illustrator skills by converting photographs into illustrations using the pen tool, gradients, mesh etc. These illustrations were done using a reference and are not created from my imagination. This is just to exhibit my familiarity with the Illustrator software.

SCODIX GREETING CARDS PROFESSIONAL PROJECT |
Challenge : To design greeting cards and a wedding invite that highlight the Scodix technology. Solution : Scodix is a revolution in print technology that allows textures to be printed, thus engaging the sense of touch as well. The textures are printed over the normal file as percentages of black - black being completely filled and white being completely blank. Different variations can be achieved by using greys and employing gradients and mesh. To enable Scodix to be applied 3 pdf’s are required. One with the coloured print file, one black and white vector of the same image and a bitmap. the bitmap, once fed into the machine deposits the resin depending on the density of the dots. These cards were designed as samples for the launch of the first ‘Scodix sense’ machine in India.

‘VIRAL’ ANIMATION

Challenge : To put together a stop motion animation to bring to people’s notice South India’s largest cycling event - Chennai Cycling. Solution : CC12 is my first attempt at animation. The basic message of the video is green transport and healthy living. It shows, in a slightly exaggerated manner how cycling can transform the environment as well as oneself. Local elements like the main character wearing a traditional indian ‘veshti’, the auto and a woman in a ‘saree’ were introduced so that the people of Chennai can identify with the video. The video is a mix of whiteboard animation, Photoshop and finally Flash to bring it all together. All characters were drawn on the whiteboard and colour was introduced in Photoshop. The video was mainly targeted at social media and received more than 2,000 hits online. It was also been played at colleges and malls in the lead up to the event. Solution : As this is a portfolio of my work, the design reflects my personality and style. An interactive flash website with illustrations depicting myself give a personal touch to the portfolio. Challenge : To design a website for the BMX tour of India 2012. Solution : BMX Tour of India is an exhibition of some of the world’s best BMX professionals showcasing their stunts. Freestyle BMX is an extreme sport. The unconventional and radical nature of BMX has been translated onto the website in the form of a grungy layout. Red, a colour associated with danger is used to bring out the daring nature of the sport. Elements from the background are highlighted and brought to the foreground making the website attractive.
