My passion for architecture is rooted in crafting spaces that flawlessly unite aesthetics and utility, resulting in cohesive and practical surroundings. After completing my education at the School of Architecture & Landscape Design in J&K, India, I gained experience at two firms before embarking on my independent journey as an architect. I have undertaken projects encompassing architectural, interior, and landscape design in diverse regions like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.

I experienced a profound awakening in my field during my internship. At the onset of my career, I held the role of a junior architect within two vastly distinct corporate cultures, which enabled me to shape myself according to diverse professional settings and values. My expertise lies in brainstorming, formulating design concepts, refining them, producing drawings, delivering presentations, and overseeing project progression. I am adept at swiftly adjusting to the dynamic work landscape that accompanies this role.

The showcased projects here reflect my approach to resolving challenges across different scenarios. I continuously draw lessons from a range of disciplines, regardless of their direct correlation to architecture, as I firmly believe that they can provide valuable insights and remedies. With a dedicated mindset and strong interpersonal abilities, I excel in adapting and fostering constructive interactions with colleagues. My work philosophy has consistently revolved around prioritizing efficiency.

Abstract: The spiritually affluent client approached with a requirement to design his residence with a century old memories and emotions where he grew up as a child and with a desire to carry further the essence to the present and coming up generations. Originally from Tamilnadu, India, mudliar family has been settled in Nagpur, Maharashtra for more than 100 years, yet keeping their roots intact. The client aims at rejuvenating their culture in their spaces with a modern touch suiting all the generations of the family. Mature deciduous trees on site provided the potential patches for development as well as giving the spaces their unique earthiness.

Padanna house Abstract: The ‘Padanna House’ situated in close proximity to the client’s ancestral home, this project embodies the essence of continuity and familial legacy. The residence’s design is a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, striking a delicate balance between the client’s cherished memories and contemporary living.

With a focus on establishing a visual connection between the new structure and the ancestral abode, the architecture exudes a narrative that transcends time. The structures are carefully positioned to create a dialogue, bridging the gap between the past and the present. This connection is manifested through architectural elements that echo the old while embracing the new, showcasing a poetic interplay of spatial arrangements and design motifs.

Large windows and open spaces invite the natural surroundings into the living spaces, creating a seamless indooroutdoor relationship. Abstract: This architectural project embodies a harmonious fusion of modern design elements with the rich and timeless heritage of Kerala architecture. Situated in close proximity to a serene backwater and surrounded by lush green landscapes, the project embraces its natural surroundings while creating a captivating space for the users. Sustainability and eco-friendliness are integral to this architectural endeavor. The design incorporates green building practices, such as rainwater harvesting systems, solar panels, and natural ventilation strategies, thereby reducing its carbon footprint and promoting an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Specially modified concrete blocks with S-bend pipes were employed within the walls to facilitate air compression and suction, while simultaneously venting the lighter air through the ceiling. The design incorporates a fundamental physics principle to maintain a continuous airflow throughout the entire volume. Suction chambers are strategically integrated into the common and open areas to encourage airflow, while in closed spaces like bedrooms, small heavy-duty exhaust fans are utilized to expel indoor air continuously. This process creates a continuous influx of fresh and cooled air through the specially modified concrete blocks.

Additionally, all the external and internal walls in the house features airholes above the false ceiling, further enhancing the continuous airflow.

Abstract: 60x80 Guesthouse was incepted keeping in mind the potential of accommodation services in Auroville. The plot was divided into 4 equal parts and the simple play in the built and open space delivered 4 courtyards that were both divided and connected at the same time. Further, the whole guest house was raised 1.5m above the ground that catered the courtyard’s their own separate identities. The perforated walls enveloped the inner spaces providing them with their own private environment. It also protects the building from the harsh tropical climate.

Abstract: Ital Beauty Nippers India Pvt. Ltd., a sister organization of Zwilling Kitchen India Pvt. Ltd. in Thattanchavadi, Pondicherry is one of the top medical, instruments for checking & testing manufacturers in the country. The project required a manufacturing unit for its appliances. The building is designed to cater the production unit at the ground with storage provisions at its upper two lvls.

Role: Junior architect & site supervisor

Design development, preparation of presentation drawings, 3d modelling, renders, approval drawings, specification for construction, working drawings etc.

Learnings: I was responsible for the design from its inception stage to its construction. During the same, I discovered how a strict budget can manipulate various design decisions.

Zwilling Kitchen Abstract: Zwilling Kitchen India Pvt. Ltd., with headquarters in Marg, New Chennai Township, TN, India is a branch of the international business Zwilling J.A.Henckels, Germany. They employed Play Design Studio to transform the 10-acre property, which had previously produced valves, into their first manufacturing facility for knives in India. The project’s scope includes adapting the shop floor,

including the grinding area, production area, storage area, tool shop, QC lab, etc., to the client’s needs. Construction of restroom facilities, a security building, a nitrogen gas yard, cooling and filtration units, a sewage treatment facility, HT and Transformer yards, a dust collector platform, a compressor room, a demineralized water enclosure, a waste storage area, change rooms and walkways at the

ground level, and the modification of office spaces in the upper level were also included in the architectural services for the project. The project also dealt with electrical services, plumbing PP-R, HVAC, Access control system, CCTV surveillance system and Data. As per the project management commitment with the company, the project was completed in 25 weeks.

The Studio block is a cluster of 5 individual units separated by shared gardens and common activity areas. The staggered placement of individual units helps avoid forming a large mass of the building. While the units have a repetitive form, their placement, changing levels and possible customization help bring a visual variation to the design.

A low-cost loft unit designed to suit the basic needs of young single Aurovillians and small families. The inner core has multiple function and activities planned around it. The south and west segments are used for Staircase and Wardrobe respectively. The wardro be is built with precast Ferro-cement shelves and wood+mesh shutters.

The East side is used for a compact kitchen counter and storage. North has an optional integrated dining table opening up into the living area. The core has steps leading down to the toilet. Above the core is for sleeping with a study/work table.

Abstract: The project Virtus Green Space involves the development of an IT/ITES Building at Technopark Phase III, in Trivandrum, Kerala. The client is Virtus IT Services Private Limited [VITS]. The project site consists of 2 acres (plus a potential 2.32 acres whose acquisition is to be confirmed). The land is free with a leasehold right from Technopark for 90 years. The development aspires to be compliant with the standards and expectations of global world class facilities, with particular emphasis on health and safety, the environment, building health and design and build quality. The project program is based on RIBA plan of works from stage 0 to stage 2. Role: Junior architect Duties: Concept development, design development, preparation of drawings, 3D modelling, physical models, area calculations, attend meetings with client, discussions with consultants. Learnings: This project gave me the opportunity to work with a team and to give different ideas from different people a single direction to be used in a project.
