FAMILY FUN DOESN’T HAVE A HEIGHT REQUIREMENT! With more than 75 rides and attractions, Valleyfair is the Twin Cities’ amusement park, where families come to play the Minnesota way! For more than four decades, this Minnesota amusement park has been much more than just an entertainment destination. A day at Valleyfair is a summertime rite-of-passage; a shared experience unlike any other, bringing people together, connecting generations and creating memories that last a lifetime.

RIDES AND ATTRACTIONS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

You’ll discover your next adventure on one of eight thrilling coasters, hanging out with Snoopy and the Peanuts crew at Planet Snoopy, reliving your childhood on the classic rides in Route 76 or paving a prehistoric path as you come face-to-face with more than 30 life-sized dinosaurs at Dinosaurs Alive!

Valleyfair’s Soak City Waterpark (included with admission) is a great way to beat the summer heat, including a 34,000 square-foot wave pool, interactive splash pad for the little ones, semi-private cabanas and the always popular lazy river. Plus, what summer bucket list is complete without a trip down Breakers Plunge? As America’s tallest twin body slides, Breakers Plunge is a thrill-seeker’s dream, plunging riders down a 90-foot, 65-degree angle at speeds of up to 40 miles per hour, leaving even the most daring riders captivated! That’s why The Travel Channel named these towering slides as one of their seven US waterslides to ride this summer (2016). If you prefer your fun a little closer to the ground, you can always grab a front row seat to a live show, test your skills on

classic carnival games, enjoy the beautiful landscapes or sneak away for a stroll through retail shops.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Join more than 1,000 runners to celebrate the start of summer during the Run & Ride Race Series, including a half marathon, 10K, 5K and one-mile run through Valleyfair. Cap it all off with a day of fun as park admission is included with race registration (except for one-mile run). Run a course unlike any other, taking you behind the scenes of your favorite rides and attractions. The race series was voted best post-race party by Runner’s World Magazine. (www.runandriderace.com)

NEW IN 2017

Find your true north in 2017 with the all-new 230-foot North Star. The only ride of its kind in the upper Midwest, North Star spins riders 20 stories above the ground at speeds up to 40mph as the swings ascend and descend the tower.

Come one, come all, come hungry as Valleyfair brings two of Minnesota’s favorites together during Hotdish & Hops! The park’s Executive Chef Luis Carrillo delivers a local twist on the classic BBQ- and brew-style food festival, pairing favorite hotdish recipes with craft beers. Many of the recipes are pure Minnesota, while others showcase the chef’s culinary creative side. The event also features live music by popular local artists. The Labor Day Weekend tradition continues with the 41st annual Green Giant Corn Feast, including more than 30,000 pounds of locally sourced and free all-you-can-eat corn on the cob, live music, corn-eating contest plus all of your favorite rides and attractions. Every fall, the fun takes a terrifying turn as Valleyfair transforms into ValleySCARE! As night falls, the Halloween Haunt comes to life with the most intense haunted attractions. Experience tight spaces, extreme situations and unforgettable encounters designed to test the boundaries of your worst fears! Or, join Snoopy and the Peanuts gang for some not-so-scary daytime fun at The Great Pumpkin Fest.

Ask the locals… MUST ORDER MEALS

1

Dangerfield’s

This classic dining establishment, located along the Minnesota River in Downtown Shakopee, offers great American fare in a wonderful, almost supper club atmosphere. They also have one of the top patio decks in the area, overlooking the beautiful river. “One of my favorite entrees at Dangerfield’s is the Jack Daniel’s Pork Chop. This succulent cut is charbroiled and brushed with a Jack Daniel’s glaze over an open fire.” Compliment this cut of meat with the house vegetable, potato and, of course, a popover with honey butter. Dangerfield’s also offers great steaks, salads, and sandwiches. Check out some of their special events, including their Happy Hour and Rib Tickler Comedy Club (seasonal).

2

Mr. Pig Stuff

This little hot spot along Highway 101 has some outstanding BBQ options with great smoky flavored meats. “I am a big fan of the beef brisket, but typically go with the traditional Pulled Pork sandwich. The apple wood smoked meat is tender and juicy and has a great smoked flavor in each bite.” Add in their delicious slaw, fries, and a pickle and you have a great meal. Mr. Pig Stuff also has unordinary menu items, including a pulled pork pizza.

3

Pablo’s Mexican Restaurant

This colorful, vibrant restaurant features great Mexican fare at reasonable prices. “A must for me at almost every visit is the Ultimate Chimichanga. This great entrée features a jalapeno cheddar tortilla wrapped around cheese, pico de gallo, and a choice of ground beef, spicy shredded beef (favorite!), shredded chicken, or carnitas.” This fried delight is also topped with queso, sour cream, and guacamole. Include rice and refried beans and you definitely will not worry about being hungry after. Be sure to save room for Pablo’s fried ice cream, a must!

16 Visit Shakopee 2017 Visitor’s Guide

4

Tokyo Sushi

This terrific little Japanese restaurant in the Southbridge shopping district of Shakopee offers a wonderful variety of sushi and other Japanese dishes. “I typically go with the 3 roll lunch special and will order the Spicy Tuna Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and Boston Roll.” Their selection is massive, so prepare yourself to take some time and peruse the options. If you are not a fan of sushi, they have Hibachi lunch items to choose from.

5

Turtle’s Bar and Grill

This local favorite on Main Street in Downtown Shakopee offers great burgers, chicken, pizzas and craft beer. “Turtle’s is definitely known for their pizza, which happens to be my pick of the menu. The thin crust pizza is hand-tossed and the cheese is ground right off the block!” Try the ‘Hey Dude’, which includes their special-recipe sausage, pepperoni, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and green olives. If pizzas aren’t your thing, you can try out some of their other great menu items like their Angus beef burgers. Turtle’s Tap Beer List is one of, if not, the best in Minnesota. They strive to bring in as many as 90+ beers as possible.

6

O’Briens Public House

O’Brien’s brings a unique flair to Irish food. Add in some terrific American options, wonderful decor and ambiance, and a great selection of drinks and craft beers, and O’Brien’s is definitely a place to visit on your next trip to Shakopee. “I enjoy the Public House Cod & Chips. You receive a very large piece of PBR battered cod. It was a very light breading, and the fish was tender on the inside, with a light and crisp breading on the outside” The slaw also has a great flavor to it, and the Tina’s pickles have great taste and a surprising kick. Some other brunch and lunch recommendations are: Eggs Benedict, Reuben, Rosemary Chicken and Shepard’s Pie.

TWIN CITIES PREMIUM OUTLETS I’m a girl who loves to get a good deal, which is imperative to my bank account since I have this uncontrollable need to buy gifts for people. So as I was looking for places to shop this holiday season, I stumbled across Twin Cities Premium Outlets, which is conveniently located just five miles south of Minneapolis/ St. Paul International Airport. I checked out their website to see what options they had and was impressed with the wide selection of luxury and sporting stores. I could literally get everything I wanted at one place and for much cheaper than any other mall. I could go to Under Armour Outlet for my dad, Filson Outlet for my brothers, Movado Outlet for my boyfriend and even Coach Factory Store or Michael Kors Outlet for my mom. I was sold! The next morning, I got in my car, parked in the parking ramp and began my shopping extravaganza. One of the first things I noticed was that the mall has a “race track”

layout, which I absolutely loved. Rather than wondering around in the cold of December, I can start and end in the exact same place, which was really nice because I had to make multiple stops to my car. After unloading my final haul, I was able to sit down with Renee Lawler, the Director of Marketing and Business Development, to get an inside take on this extraordinary find. “It’s really a hidden treasure! We have great sales and events going on all year such as our Summer Fun series through the summer, Sidewalk Sales, Deer Widows Weekend in November and Santa and his Reindeer over the holiday, just to name a few.” My conversation with Renee was truly insightful and I learned that this outlet mall was not only a gem to indulge in my spontaneous yet totally reasonable shopping addiction, but it is a fun place to hang out with my friends for the day. The amazing deals and events that are going on all the

time makes this outlet more than just a one stop shop – it’s an experience. As a seasoned shopper and deal hunter, I would defiantly recommend Twin Cities Premium Outlets for your shopping and tourist destination. And from one shopper to another, make sure you join their VIP Shopper Club (www.premiumoutlets.com/twincities) because not only will you be the first to know of special events, but you get the Savings Passport filled with over 70 coupons complimentary. Trust me, your bank account will thank you!

Brambillas: A travel tradition since 1973 What does one do with three RV’s in a driveway? Rent them, of course! And that is exactly what Jack and Doris Brambilla did back in 1973. They rented RV’s from their home in Shakopee, but that didn’t last long and soon they took their growing rental fleet to downtown Shakopee on the corner by the old Shakopee Bridge. They were the only ones to rent Motorhomes in a 30 mile radius. As the business grew and thrived, the dealership relocated once again. Our MN dealership has been at its present location, just minutes from downtown Minneapolis and across the highway from Valleyfair Amusement Park, since 1995.

IN 2008, THE SHOW ROOM WAS EXPANDED TO ACCOMMODATE OVER 55 RV’S, FROM BIG CLASS A’S AND DIESEL PUSHERS TO CLASS C’S. We cover every aspect of the RV lifestyle. We specialize in new and used sales, rentals, storage of local motorhomes, parts, and financing. We service motorhomes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers. Our top of the line body shop can quickly and expertly take care of any dings and scratches the inevitably happen on the road, as well as other more extensive damages. In addition, our dealership has over 20 of the cleanest service bays you will find in Minnesota. Our extensive camping store and parts department will supply all that you need to enjoy your RV lifestyle.

Besides tons of RV’s and our expert sales staff, our dealership has over 25 rental units to choose from, including Class A and Class C, in diesel and gas. All of our rental units are professionally cleaned and maintained inside and out for your best RV experience. Our experienced Rental Staff can help you choose the right RV Rental for your family and your budget. If you’d prefer to own your RV we have financing available through multiple banks in order to get you the most competitive rates. You may qualify to be pre-approved for your dream RV by financing for up to 20 years, so that you get a rock bottom monthly payment. Applications are available online for your convenience.

WHETHER YOU ARE BUYING AN RV, RENTING AN RV, PICKING UP PARTS, IN FOR SERVICE, OR JUST OUT KICKING TIRES, WE STRIVE TO MAKE YOU RV EXPERIENCE UNFORGETTABLY PLEASURABLE! Brambilla’s Inc. is a local, family owned and operated RV dealership since 1973, and a proud dealer of Itasca by Winnebago Industries, and Fleetwood RV’s. So stop in today at our location across from Valley Fair in Shakopee, MN and meet our friendly staff, and of course, Buddy, our adorable and friendly Black Lab! www.VisitShakopee.org 35
