Classic Outdoor Games your kids will LOVE!

Today, kids tend to gravitate more towards the screen, and less towards classic outdoor games. But some fresh air could be just what the doctor ordered to help your kids stay active. As the weather warms up this spring, send your kids outdoors for some old-time fun. KICKBALL

As the trees bud and flowers bloom, pollen goes wild. Minimizing exposure to allergy triggers can be your family’s best defense against the symptoms. LIKE A COLD, COMMON SYMPTOMS OF SEASONAL ALLERGIES INCLUDE: sneezing, nasal itching, and runny nose, often accompanied by nasal congestion; red, itchy, watery eyes, and a scratchy throat.

FLASHLIGHT TAG A lively game of tag is so much better at night with a flashlight and the mystery and suspense!

A ball, an open space, and a group of kids is all you need for this fun old-school game. RED ROVER Fun for large groups, Red Rover can be played almost anywhere and you don’t need any additional equipment.

IF YOU OR YOUR CHILD HAS ALLERGIES:

FOUR SQUARE The kids will love the challenge of moving up the squares in this fun, exciting game!

CAPTURE THE FLAG A good game for older children, it’s still a favorite at summer camp or family reunions. HIDE AND SEEK Everyone knows how to play the classic version, but have you ever played Chain Hide & Seek or Sardines? HORSE BASKETBALL Get your best trick shots ready. Horse is a great chance to show them off!

RELIEVING SEASONAL ALLERGY SYMPTOMS

HOPSCOTCH Perfect for all ages, the kids can get hands-on experience making the grid themselves.

The kids will blow off some steam with these exciting outdoor games. You can even join them —if you dare!

Avoid outdoor activities when the pollen or mold counts are the highest (evenings or early mornings).

Keep windows and doors closed whenever possible.

Although ALLERGIC TRIGGERS cannot be avoided entirely, you can BE PREPARED. There are many TREATMENT OPTIONS for SEASONAL ALLERGIES. NASAL SYMPTOMS are commonly treated with ORAL MEDICATIONS, NASAL SPRAYS, or both. Most ORAL DECONGESTANTS and ANTIHISTAMINES are available over-the-counter, while many NASAL SALINE products are available without a prescription.

RELIEF IS AVAILABLE for your seasonal allergy symptoms. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist about what works best for you. May 2016

DIY: Do it Yourself

MOTHER’S DAY MASON JAR VASE

Are you looking for a simple, thrifty idea that your kids can make for Mother’s Day? Look no further than this adorable Mason jar vase.

YOU WILL NEED: A Mason jar Paint (at least two colors) Artificial flowers

Colored ribbon A tag Markers

Pour some of the paint into a plain, clean Mason jar. Have the kids swirl the paint around inside the jar, until the entire inside is coated. Pour out the excess paint. Let it dry overnight. The next day, have them choose a color they didn’t coat their jar with. Paint their hand with that paint. Carefully place their hand on the outside of the glass jar. Important tip: Hold onto their wrist the entire time, even as you’re walking to the sink. While you wait for the paint to dry, have the kids decorate the tag with “Happy Mother’s Day” (or another greeting), and string it to the ribbon. Tie it to the jar once it dries. Add artificial flowers to complete the vase. Note: The vase will not be water safe! This project is for artificial flowers only.
