Opening Hymn

Amazing Grace

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares I have already come.

‘Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me; his word my hope secures. He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures.

THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading

A reading from the second letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians 5:1.6-10

We know that when the tent that we live in on earth is folded up, there is a house built by God for us, an everlasting home not made by human hands, in the heavens.

We are always full of confidence, then, when we remember that to live in the body means to be exiled from the Lord, going as we do by faith and not by sight. – we are full of confidence, I say, and actually want to be exiled from the body and make our home with the Lord.

Whether we are living in the body or exiled from it, we are intent on pleasing him. For all the truth about us will be brought out in the law court of Christ, and each of us will get what he deserves for the things he did in the body, good or bad.

The word of the Lord Thanks be to God

Responsorial Psalm 22 (23)

The Lord is my shepherd (sung)

The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want. He makes me down to lie In pastures green; He leadeth me the quiet waters by.

My soul He doth restore again; And me to walk doth make Within the paths of righteousness, Even for His own Name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale, Yet will I fear no ill; For Thou art with me; and Thy rod And staff my comfort still.

My table Thou hast furnished; In presence of my foes; My head Thou dost with oil anoint, And my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life; Shall surely follow me; And in God’s house forevermore My dwelling place shall be.

Gospel Acclamation

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

I am the Resurrection and the life, says the Lord, Whoever believes in me will never die. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 14: 1-6

Jesus said to his disciples:

‘Do not let your hearts be troubled Trust in God still, and trust in me.

There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you.

I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am you may be too.

You know the way to the place where I am going.’

Thomas said, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus said:

‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer of the Faithful

Celebrant: Let us now turn to God and pray for our sister Dawn, who has departed to the Father’s house.

Reader:

1. For Dawn who has fallen asleep in the peace of Christ. May she now share in the fullness of his Resurrection.

Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

2. That God may deliver the soul of his daughter Dawn from death; forgive her sins and establish her in light and peace.

Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

3. For all who grieve, especially Dawn’s family, relatives and friends. May we find strength in our faith. God of all consolation, help us to comfort one another in our grief, finding light in darkness.

Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

4. Let us pray for our loved ones who have died, that they and all the faithful departed will rest in peace in the house of God.

Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

5. For all of us gathered here today, those who care for the sick and dying, especially those who helped and cared for Dawn.

Lord, in your mercy. Hear our prayer.

6. May the prayers of Mary, the Queen of the Holy Rosary, now help Dawn receive the joys of eternal life. Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and the hour of our death.

Amen

Celebrant: Almighty and merciful Father, receive graciously these prayers for our sister Dawn and grant her eternal life in the name of your Son Jesus Christ who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

Amen

Offertory Hymn

I watch the sunrise

I watch the sunrise lighting the sky, casting its shadows near. And on this morning bright though it be, I feel those shadows near me.

For you are always close to me

Following all my ways May I be always close to you following all your ways, Lord.

I watch the sunset fading away, lighting the clouds with sleep. And as the evening closes its eyes, I feel your presence near me.

I watch the moonlight guarding the night, waiting till morning comes. The air is silent, earth is at rest, only your peace is near me.

PREFACE

Communion Hymn (1)

I, the Lord of Sea and Sky

I the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save. I who made the stars at night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear my light to them? Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night. I will go, Lord, if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart

I the Lord of snow and rain, I have heard my people’s pain. I have wept for love of them. They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone. I will speak my word to them. Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord?......

I, the Lord of wind and flame I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them. My heart will save. Finest bread I will provide till their hearts are satisfied. I will give my life to them.

Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord. Is it I Lord?......

Communion Hymn (2)

How great thou art!

O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds thy hand has made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow’r throughout the universe displayed!

Then sings my soul my Saviour God, to thee; How great thou art! How great thou art!

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, Sent him to die I scarce can take it in That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin!

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation

And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart; When I shall bow in humble adoration And there proclaim: my God, how great Thou art!

Recessional Song

Bridge over Troubled Water

When you’re weary, feeling small

When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all, all I’m on your side, oh, when times get rough And friends just can’t be found

Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.

When you’re down and out

When you’re on the street

When evening falls so hard I will comfort you

I’ll take your part, oh, when darkness comes And pain is all around

Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled water I will lay me down.

Sail on silver girl

Sail on by Your time has come to shine

All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine

Oh, if you need a friend

I’m sailing right behind

Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind

Like a bridge over troubled water I will ease your mind.

The Requiem Mass will be followed by the Committal at Lavender Hill Cemetery, 72 Cedar Rd, Enfield, EN2 0TH

We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from everyone. Dawn’s children and family thank you for the kindness you have shown during this extremely difficult time. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
