LOCATION : GUDIBANDE, KARNATAKA

BRIEF: To design a visiting centre that the village of Gudibande, that is filled with great history and cultural events, to show the richness of heritage and culture within itself. It also needed to be friendly to kids as well as the elderly as there was an existing walking track where a few locals used. It required us to not forget the existing walking ground and incorporate the same in our design. The main requirements were: 1. Cafe open for everyone 2. An information centre and exhibition area for visitors 3. Entertainment centre for visitors 4. Walking track Built Area : 600sqm LEGEND: 1.ENTRANCE

Concept: The concept of watch tower was used due to the presence of the gudibande fort that was visible from the site and a lake right in front of the site. The exhibition gallery and information centre was more for the visitors who are keen to learn and understand the history and culture of Gudibande. A small gathering space for visitors A cafe designed for locals and visitors

SECOND INNINGS HOUSING PROJECT

BRIEF: This housing project mainly centers around people who have retired by choice (not by age), who have time in their hands once again, a second time in their life. These people have made a choice to move away from the hustle and bustle of metro cities to live in an alternate and sustainable living.

9.STAGE 10.RIVER

CONCEPT The main concept was to have a central visual axis to accentuate the river at the end of the site. The central axis was made into a plaza with public activities added onto it. The level difference of 9m made it interesting to make the central space as a plaza. There is a gradual slope of 9m from the road to the river Lokapavani

INITIALLY I STARTED WITH THE CONCEPT OF CONNECTING THE ACADEMIC BLOCK, THE RESEARCH BLOCK AND THE MEDICAL BLOCK TOGETHER, WITH THE THOUGHT THAT THE RESEARCHERS COULD ALSO BE THE TEACHERS TEACHING IN THE ACADEMICBLOCK AND THEY COULD ALSO BE THE DOCTORS IN THE MEDICAL CENTRE. I PLACED THE RESEARCH BLCOK BETWEEN THE MEDICAL AND THE INSTITUTE.THERE IS AN INTERNAL CONNECTION BETWEEN THE INSTITUTE AND RESEARCH. THE PUBLIC LIBRARY IS ON TOP OF THE MEDICAL CENTRE. THE THREE BUILDINGS SHARE A COURTYARD,WHICH ACTS AS A NODE. THIS COURTYARD ALSO LEADS TO THE PLAZA THAT LEADS TO THE CAFE AND AUDITORIUM.

AD VI

The overall concept was to connect the institute and the medical centre with the resarch centre as the connection.

The institute was made using the contour as away to break the institute into two halves, the entrance and the classes.

SECTION CC' The medical centre needed a lot of attention since it was for animals and the anthropometrics was different from normal hospitals. The concept of central courtyard helped as a waiting area for the animals, especially for the bigger animals.
