STREET STYLE MEETS MODERNISM BROOKLYN LOS ANGELES AUSTIN
THE FASHION ISSUE
A NEW CUT
THE FOLLOWING PAGES SHOW A DEPICTION OF STREET WEAR MEETS MODERN WOMEN’S FASHION. MODERNISM IS NOT A DEFINITIVE STYLE IN ITSELF, IT IS AN APPROACH TO A FORM OF ART, DESIGN AND MUSIC. IT IS THE IDEA THAT FORM FOLLOWS FUNCTION, WHERE THE PRIORITY IS THE DESIGN, WHICH LEADS TO MORE AND MORE SIMPLIFICATION OF CONSTRUCTION. THE MAJOR FASHION CITIES THAT ARE FEATURED ARE NEW YORK WITH ITS CHIC AND SLEEK LOOKS, THAT LENDS THE HAND TO LOS ANGELES STREET YET EDGY URBAN STYLES, ALONG WITH THE UP AND COMING CITY AUSTIN, WHICH IS HIGHLY INFLUENCED BY MUSIC FESTIVALS AND THE NEW MILLENNIALS THAT ARE COLLECTIVELY MOVING TO THE SOUTH. This project was to create a lookbook for a particular concept of choice. In which I did a style concept, where the depiction was inspired by restraints from the mental home and how that can be depicted into editoral shots.

he straitjacket was invented in France in 1790 by an upholsterer named Guilleret, for BicĂŞtre Hospital. Before psychiatric medications and talking therapies were developed, doctors simply did not know how to treat mental disorders such as schizophrenia, depression, and anxiety disorders. As a result, doctors attempted a variety of treatments that seem cruel by modern standards. The straitjacket was one of these treatments. At the height of its use, it was considered more humane than traditional restraints made of ropes or chains. It prevented the sufferer from damaging clothes or furniture, and from injuring staff or fellow inmates. Many assessors, including Marie Ragone and Diane Fenex, considered straitjackets to be a humane form of treatment, far gentler than the chains patients encountered in prisons. The restraint supposedly applied no pressure to the body or limbs and did not cause skin abrasions. Moreover, straitjackets allowed some freedom of movement. Unlike patients anchored to a chair or bed by straps or handcuffs, those in a straitjacket could walk. Some registered nurse specialists even recommended restrained individuals stroll outdoors, thereby reaping the benefits of both control and fresh air. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, straitjackets were used in some prisons that punish or torture inmates.

A Season Of Clarity Spring/Summer ‘16
A Season of Clarity is the theme for my depiction of what the next trend would be as of two-thousand and eighteen. Within the next pages you will see five different sub-trends that describe and collectively bring a season of clarity to a full circle. These sub-trends feature things such as textiles, patterns, fashion, accessories, inspiration, colors and more.

Founded as an importer of Japanese shoes, NIKE, Inc. has grown to be the world’s largest marketer of athle?c footwear, holding a global market share of approximately 37%. In the United States, Nike products are sold through about 22,000 retail accounts; worldwide, the company’s products are sold in more than 160 countries.
Kenzo is a French luxury brand and was first launched in 1970, when its eponymous designer-‐ Kenzo Takada-‐ staged his first show at the Vivienne Gallery in Paris. Famous for its clashing colours and eclec?c style of clothes, Kenzo was one of the first labels to bring ethnic-‐chic to the street. Takada took inspira?on from around the globe, from Russia to Machu-‐ Picchu, Bohemia to his homeland of Japan. The label’s current Crea?ve Directors, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are the duo behind cult US clothing store Opening Ceremony.

TRADE PR OT OCOL To find the correct code for your goods, use the General Rules contained in the Tariff. There are six rules, which should be applied in order: i. Covers the main headings under which goods are classed ii.. Covers incomplete or unfinished articles and articles of mixed materials iii. Covers goods, which can be classified under more than one description iv. Covers goods which can’t be classified using the first three rules v. Covers packaging items that come with the goods vi. Covers subheadings under which goods are classed If it’s desired to export goods to a third country, you must submit an electronic export declaration. Many businesses use a freight forwarder to handle these declarations for them. This is done by • • •
-Registering for an Economic Operator Registration Identification number -Registering for the Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight system -Submitting your export declaration through the National Export System
Most goods exported to non EU countries have a zero rate so you must: •-get evidence that the goods have left the EU •-keep a record of the export in VAT account “ Italy does not charge VAT (value added tax) for services exported outside the EU. All UK businesses must declare any imports or exports to HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) to ensure that any import VAT, duty, excise, or levies due on them under UK and European law are collected. The way different goods are classified largely determines what duties and controls apply to them. HMRC uses commodity codes found in the UK Integrated.12 Trade Tariff to classify
individual products. Classification of commodities is necessary for imports, exports, declarations, as well as returns.”
CLASS IFYING THE MERCHANDISE The HTS Numbers are organized into 21 sections and 96 chapters, that include general rules of interpretation and explanatory notes. The system is organized in sections with headings and subheading for each chapter.
