TAH’s Ambitious and talented Procurement team has successfully completed the project of sourcing Eco-friendly, 100% recycled charcoal!

We know where our charcoal come from, we know that it is never made of cut trees!

In conjunction with Global Recycling Day on 18 March 2023, 29 volunteers from TAH visited Tanjung Aru Marine Ecosystem Centre (TAME) on Wednesday, 16 March to learn about their upcycling initiatives. The volunteers helped clean, sort glasses and plastic bottles to be upcycled by Project Carlsbot and Happy Plastic Borneo located at Tanjung Aru Marine Ecosystem Centre (TAME).

Darlene represented TAH during GSO-Singapore's "Kuala LumpurSingapore Sales Mission" from March 13 – 17, 2023

On March 10 – 11, 2023, GSO London collaborated with Malaysia Airlines and Sabah Tourism to bring 12 agents to various tourist destinations in Sabah for the UK Agents FAM Trip.

The agents spent a night at TAH.

Fast forward to year 2023 post pandemic, on March 18 to 22, 2023 we received our biggest MICE Group to date - Repove Group with 415 delegates from Korea. They stayed for 4nights occupying 222 guest rooms with 2 Dinner events.

A big Thank You and kudos to all Hotel colleagues that had bend over backwards to make all things possible for this group to have a memorable stay at the resort.

360 Degree Manager – Leadership Program

Global Recycling Day Talk

TAH staff is being given a talk on recycling at TAME in conjunction with Global Recycling Day.

BeDigital Boot Camp Programme by Petronas

Learning department participated in the BeDigital Boot Camp Programme organised by Petronas which is a programme to strengthen young graduates’ digital literacy to be ready for the jobs of the future.

Conversational Korean Language Class

Learning Department has set up a conversational Korean language course beginning on March 1, 2023, there will be one 2-hour session per week for a total of seven weeks of the course.

My Moment with Moment of Joy Launch

My Moment day March 2023 is celebrated with the "Back to School Theme" by Laundry and Sales & Marketing Departments! The recognition day is celebrated with fun games, Awards and Birthday Celebrations! In this event, we also launched the Moment of Joy program!

NEW FOOD& BEVERAGE COURSES

1.Stewarding Learning Program: Chemical Safety Awareness

• By understanding the importance of chemical safety, we will be able to ensure that the chemicals are used in a proper way, for the sake of ensuring optimal results and safety.

2.Stewarding Learning Program: Introduction to Kitchen Hygiene

• By completing this module, we will understand the importance of kitchen cleanliness and hygiene. Besides, we will also learn what to clean, where to clean, and how to clean.

3.Stewarding Learning Program: Breakage Control

• This module will help learners understand how to minimise breakage by reducing warewashing rewashes and unnecessary handling of ware, for the purposes of reducing breakage costs and improving safety.

We conducted infrared thermographic scanning for all our switchboards and distribution boards in March 2023.

Putting red bands on all our sprinkler pipes at Tanjung lobby as per requirement by Bomba.

THE FIRST GREEN HOTEL IN SABAH

In recognition of our efforts in practicing sustainable tourism, we were recently certified as Green Hotel by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture. The FIRST in Sabah!

ADOPT A STRAY CAT

The kitten that was adopted by Mirna last month is now a playful and active kitten. The kitten is also now inseparable with Mirna's niece, Thea.

Front Office was the Host for February MyMoment and the theme was "Love is in TAH"

MYMoment Day is a day when we recognize our colleagues who have demonstrated behaviors and characters that are in line with Our Beliefs and Our Nature to achieve Our Vision, Our Purpose, and Our Business Goals.

At the same time, we celebrate colleagues who were born in the month. We played games during the MYMoment Day, giving us the opportunity to foster stronger bond with colleagues from different departments.

For months, Horizon Lounge have been looking for alternative coasters to replace the paper ones. Paper coasters left stains on table-tops and were hard to clean off completely.

We have now found the perfect coaster, and they are made from wood! Not only do they not leave stains on the tables, they attract our guests'attention because of their unique design of design.

Hotel Shop displayed new lines of consignment items from Ms. Wong

Yee Ting - an internationally renowned Sabahan artist who is known for her innovative selfportraits and wildlife paintings.

Yee Ting was artistic ambassador for Malaysia four times at the world's biggest wildlife event, the Bird Fair in the U.K. in 2014, 2018, 2019, 2020. She was awarded best stand second runner up in a legendary international bird conservation in 2019.

Yee Ting was the artist in residence at award-winning eco lodge Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

With her artwork, we act with the desire to succeed and drive business results.

HOUSEKEEPING& LAUNDRY

The Housekeeping team welcomed TAH's biggest group arrival in March, the REPOVE KOREA Group, with personalised welcome amenities which they had worked on from morning to night with the organisers.

The 220 rooms were set up according to the organiser's specifications and were ready for all members of the group when they checked in late night on 18 March 2023.

Chemical Health Risk Assessment(CHRA) Training

Following to our CHRA Assessment to be carry out by DOSH in June 2023, colleaguesfrom Housekeeping, Stewarding, Learning, Marina and ESG successfully participated in a full-day Chemical Safety Training that was conducted by a government-appointed and certified organization at TAH on 17 March 2023.

The objective of the training was to give facilitationsand awareness for preparation for the upcoming Assessment.

PRICE INCREASE - Guest laundry (in-house) new pricing, effective 15 March 2023.
