Primary Health-Care of Charlotte Free Health Care Events
Epitomize 35 Years of Community Service
PrimaryHealth-Care of Charlotte, P.A., will conduct free holistic health examinations for college students and workers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 at their facility in Charlotte by appointment only. The thorough physicals provided in this annual event will address all body systems with wellness and preventive care principles.
Approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Board of Medical Examiners, the practice, which has served the uninsured and under insured with continuous lowcost holistic health care for 35 years, also offers free care to those needing to monitor their blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and weight from 3 to 6 p.m. on the third Friday of each month.
Betty Marlin, RN, BSN, MSN, CNS, founder, owner and CEO of the practice, is also host of the weekly cable TV show Wellness, Wholeness, Holiness and a weekly radio program on WDRB. Called by God to open the first community nursing center, Marlin states, “We knew from valid research and 48 years of professional nursing practice that there is such a desperate need for physicals, first aid, testing, self-care counseling, health education for disease prevention and abuse intervention in low-income neighborhoods.”
Recently, an unhoused family brought their high schoolage son to her to try to lower his blood pressure without prescription drugs so he could play football. For little cost, Marlin recommended a low-sodium/fat diet, healthy exercise and sleep regimen along with assisting the family in obtaining housing, financial, legal and community support. Two weeks later, the son successfully lowered his blood pressure and was able to play football again and the family is now housed and experiencing improved overall health.
If serious or chronic conditions are discovered, Marlin also refers people to other appropriate medical professionals from a network of providers.
The practice accepts donations to their charitable arm that makes these free events and their ongoing low-cost health care possible.
