“Architecture is adding value and sensibility to space” This is what I have observed and concluded in the last five years as a student of architecture with each design project I aimed to arrive at a solution that is responsive to users as well as the environment. This portfolio contains some of my academic and professional works that reflect my journey. At this stage, my goal is to become a problem solver through my design. Architecture is my medium. I am focusing my energy and time to develop my skills and gather knowledge to be better equipped for the future, in the whole process be a reliable and responsible asset to the organization i become a part of.

Climate Study:
The western facade has to be shaded and porforated to allow prevailing wind but avoide heat gain theough sun light. The shading device is to be designed in such a way that it provides shading and pressurise prevailing wind so that it becomes cooler.
Nodes
The south- western facade would recieve a lot of heat, mutual shading from the adjacent building would provide shading, opening and glasing has to be prevented in this facade.
Paths
The eastern facade also receves prevailing winds and the maorning sun , hence this facade has to be porforated and glazing would not requre shading, this would ensure passive light and ventilation. Increasing the wind pressure would

Urban Fabric Analysis:
The street facades form an integral part of the imagibility of the area defining its character. The building fabric of the study area consists of the street facades along the approach roads to ghats and the riverfront facade. Over time new developments and alterations have disintegrated the urban fabric which needs to be restored.
The Riverfront of Varanasi is the most spectacular attraction for tourists and this built heritage has developed over time especially from the 16th to 19th centuries. Every building has its history hence no intervention would be possible without understanding its purpose and history. The analysis includes age mapping of the buildings, ecological data like flood levels, building typologies, and architectural elements.
The stretch includes Ahilyabai Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat(A), Prayag Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat (B), Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ghat, Manmandir Ghat, and Tripura Bhairavi Ghat ( from left to right ).

Project Statement: To revive the lost glory and essence of the heritage site in terms of built form and experience. Since Dashashwamedh is often connected to the origination of the city, it would present a vision of the city. Following are the principles followed for the project-
Concept: Varanasi is believed to be a microcosm where a material expression of that parallelism between macro cosmos and microcosmos is still existent. In Benaras the four states of materiality: earth, water, air, and fire can be interpreted as solid, liquid, gaseous, and energy manifest in the inexpressible expression of the pre- manifest. Human beings gather information through five senses which are collectively termed as experience. There are several components of legibility based on the five senses of human beings through which we gather information. Which are visual sensations of color, shape, smell, sound, touch, kinesthesia, and sense of gravity. A good environmental image gives its processor an important relationship between itself and the outside world. There are other influences of the imagebility such as the social meaning of the area, its function, and its history. Hence the prominence of the site in the history of the city has to be highlighted, its existing functions have to strengthen and its history has to be made more accessible to people.

The average width of the approach roads is 15 meters. A A
The road is divided into two side walks of 4 meters each, a green strip of 1.5 meters, and a walkway of 5 meters for pedestrians and cycling.
The green patch would enhance the microclimate and also help to recharge the groundwater table from the stormwater, trees would provide mutual shading.

Restoring Building Fabric : later developments have been either relocated, demolished, or redesigned according to pre-existing architecture vocabulary.
Barrier-free and movement interventions: ramp developed at the place of the relocated pumping station, creating security check gates at the approach paths along the side for better surveillance and traffic management.
Creating public amenities : development of mobile restrooms and drinking water facilities, changing room, shading devices.

Proposal: Mixed-use Building The mixed-use building is designed in place of the fish market that previously existed on the site and is now being relocated somewhere else. It would incorporate a local vegetable and fruit market, tourist information centre, food court, Handicraft, souvenir shops, and other amenities for locals as well as tourists. A city museum will also be designed with the aim to provide a glimpse of all the tourist attractions of Varanasi to the users so that it would perform as a virtual tourist guide providing preliminary information through virtual experience. Audio Guide and History DASHASHWAMEDH GHAT One of the oldest and the most sacred ghats in the holy city of Varanasi is Dashashwamedh. This place is most famous for its Ganga arti ( a holy fire ritual), which is an elaborate and lively ceremony that takes place at dusk everyday. Amid blowing of conch shells, ringing of bells, clanging of brass cymbals and chanting chorus of mantras, priests venerate the Ganga, the lifeline of Varanasi, with brass lamps that rise several tiers. The priests performing the arti are all draped in similar clothing-- a kurta and dhoti. The preparations for the arti include collecting five elevated planks, an idol of Goddess Ganga, flowers and incense sticks. Rituals of the arti are performed by those learned in the Vedas and Upanishads and are led by the head priest of the Gangotri Seva Samiti. The arti lasts about 45 minutes. Devotees float smaller diyas on leaf platters in the river as an obeisance to the holy Ganga. As the sunlight recedes, the innumerable lamps flowing in the water make for an unforgettable sight. The hour-long ritual can be watched from the ghat or boats moored at the river bank.

The university is duly approved by university grants commission (UGC) under sections 2(f) and 12b of the UGC Act, 1956, Medical Council of India, Pharmacy Council Of India, Indian Association of Physiotherapists, National Council for Teachers Education, Council of Architecture, Bar Council of India, U.P. History of Lucknow can be traced back to the time of Ramayana when it was believed to be known as lakhanpur and according to popular belief lord Rama gifted this territory to Laxman after he had conquered Sri Lanka. Around 1000 bc it was the western gateway of the ancient kingdom of Kaushal, it was also known as Choti Kashi, It attracted a large number of pilgrims who visited these shrines among which Kaundilya Rishi’s ashram was prominent now known as Kudiya Ghat. After 1775 The nawabi court shifted from Faizabad to Lucknow where they built along the banks of the river. The nawabs introduced a unique architectural style which was an amalgamation of Persian, European and Indo- Islamic styles of architecture. Their great interest in art and architecture and the availability of resources made it possible to build such marvelous pieces of architecture. Nawab Wajid Ali Shah was the last nawab of Awadh dynasty, despite his short tenure as nawab, he was able to complete his dream project, The Qaiserbagh which was completed in just four years from 1848. Qaiserbagh was designed based on the garden of paradise described in holy Quran, it was designed in such a way that all the social gatherings and activities were to be held in the gardens, baradari and pavilions in the center which was walled in all four sides, this included the Lanka Kothi, Safed baradari and parikhana. Outside the periphery, wall were the residential quarters of royal family and bazaars. British wanted to gain control over the revenue of awadh and finally in 1856 Nawab Wajid Ali Shah was sent into exile.

Qaiserbagh had to suffer large scale destruction, it was from Qaiserbagh that Nawab issued proclamations against Britishers during the final stages of the annexation of power. to establish dominance over Lucknow large scale alterations were done. Through this intervention, we attempt to bring back the past glory of Qaiserbagh which was the dream project of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah , an epitome of architectural excellence and had a prominent role in awadh history. This book is the compilation of the work done by the students of the fourth-year urban design studio, bachelors of architecture, Faculty of architecture and planning, Integral University, Lucknow.
