Girl Nation Workshop is an event to support women empowerment and focuses on encouraging ambitious young girls by bringing established women who are successful in their respective industries to share their experiences. Aina Zamira Adnan, the founder of Girl Nation was overwhelmed with the response and support from the day it was introduced and promoted via Girl Nation’s Instagram account and Facebook page over the last 3 months. What makes Girl Nation different from the rest? We focus more on building a community of a strong, independent and ambitious girls redefining success on their own terms. Girl Nation create contents on a daily basis, merchandise/products related to the brand and hosts motivational events & activities for girls who seeks help in owning their futures. This is the gap that was overlooked by our society, therefore in our recent Girl Nation workshop, we brought speakers from different industries such as Raeesa Sya, an entrepreneur and businesswomen who owns a Cosmetic company called Orkid Cosmetics, Shikin Gomez, a Malaysian supermodel and Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 6 mentor, as well as Zulvanny Andiny, a celebrity fashion stylist who has clients from established companies and celebrities such as Netflix, Yuna, and Defam, to name a few. The speakers has given practical tips and tricks over the past years based on their experience in their industries. For Raeesa Sya, 30, she highlighted the importance of learning and understanding the market, believing in yourself and make time for your passion, “I want you guys to believe that you can be anything you want. There is no difference between you and me. For whatever it is you want to be, there is nothing stopping you from achieving them. So, believe that you can do it and find a role model.” said Raeesa Sya adding that in order to achieve your dream career, you need to learn as much as you can whether it’s from your role model, school or the internet. Shikin Gomez prioritizes more on confidence and self-esteem during her talk. “If you want to be confident, you have to be okay with yourself first, you have to accept your flaws and be okay with everything that you think is wrong with yourself. When you accept all these flaws, you realize that you’re quite awesome.” said the model, with full confidence and sincerity.
