While the building still boldly embodies the architectural ideals of Mid Century Modernism, after fifty years from its completion, it was in need of revitalization. Critical deferred maintenance elements of the entry lobby and main concourse were identified as the areas where renovations would make the most positive impact on the visitor experience prior to PK80-Phil Knight Invitational in November 2017.

The addition of bold graphics simply attached to the existing walls adds powerful references to the building’s historic uses for sports, music events, and public gatherings. These graphics are supplemented by significant upgrades to the entry lobby to remove extraneous additions, to improve the entry and exit flow and to reenergize the concession operations.
