ABOUT THE COMPANY PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE In the beginning... Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty started off as Vestra Realty in 1998, a one-office, twenty five agent operation run by Kevin Wiles. The name Vestra was an acronym for Value Enhancement Strategies and was laser-focused on delivering value to its agents and clients. Thanks to the robust housing market and the growth-oriented culture that Kevin and his team cultivated, the company attracted the attention of PenFed Credit Union, which was looking to expand its real estate, mortgage and title offerings to its members. In 2006, Vestra Realty became PenFed Realty, and the company quickly grew from 25 agents in one office to six offices and 250 agents by 2010. In 2011, PenFed Realty entered the Prudential franchise network when they acquired Prudential Carruthers Realtors, and the resulting company became Prudential PenFed Realty. The merged organization immediately became one of the leading real estate firms in the greater D.C., Maryland and Virginia markets, which continues to this day. By 2014, Prudential PenFed Realty had nearly 1,400 agents closing over 10,000 units and $2.7 billion in sales volume. This growth fueled an aggressive expansion nationwide, with acquisitions of successful Prudential companies in Florida, Kansas, Tennessee and Texas. In 2014, PenFed Realty joined Warren Buffett’s new real estate network— Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices—and rebranded itself as Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices PenFed Realty.
