lower my goals and objectives and cease spending so much time trying to get back to where I was before the accident. I should ‘accept’ the way things are now.
I understand that medical teams are risk adverse as they don't want to suggest something that has little or no affect or even makes things worse. It
I have always gone with my gut feeling and this just doesn't feel right to me. I am not medically trained nor do I possess any therapy experience so it could be argued that my opinion is not really qualified and then it should be dismissed! I am not arrogant enough to think 'I know best' however when I hear that I have ‘plateau and little progress should be expected' I find it hard to believe that all avenues have been explored. To me accepting the way things are is like giving up and I am not ready to give up just yet! Maybe the medical team is correct but unless you try to improve you will never know! Perhaps one
is logical that you don’t put in 100% effort for 2% gain. However hoping things will improve and doing nothing but your maintenance plan will just result in the unsatisfactory ‘status quo’. Doing nothing and relying on the fact ‘time is a good healer’ to me is like taking a chance on the lottery ticket, you may win however the odds are millions to one. Therefore we push the boundaries, sometimes to our own detriment and for sure it can feel like sometimes we are taking a step backwards. But if what you are doing has no adverse effect then perhaps it isn't working! Sometimes you have to go backwards in order to move forward !
