n the girls Class A-5A matchup, three-time defending state champion Blessed Trinity faces Starr’s Mill in a rematch of last year’s finals. A year ago, the Titans got out to a 9-2 halftime lead before closing out a 15-7 win. Butler-commit Kaley Attaway led with three goals and six assists as a junior in last year’s championship victory and will be closing out her stellar varsity career on Saturday. Blessed Trinity’s current playoff run started with a first round bye and the Titans defeated Whitewater 20-3 to advance to the quarterfinals where they held off Kell 10-9. In the semis, Blessed Trinity dominated McIntosh 15-5. Starr’s Mill brings a 17-4 overall record to the finals with all four losses being decided by a combined five goals. In the semis, the Lady

Panthers jumped out to a 13-1 halftime-lead and closed out a 19-2 victory against Fellowship Christian. Junior Ryanne King led the way with seven goals, Alyssa Angelo netted five, Ansley Wallace finished with three goals, Maddie Kross had two and Jessica Deluca and Emma Grace Hepler each had one. On the boys side, Area 2 rivals Westminster and Lovett are set to meet for the second time this year. In their previous matchup on April 5, the Wildcats defeated Lovett 9-8 in an overtime thriller. Westminster is coming off a 12-10 road win against Blessed Trinity in the semifinals and Lovett is fresh off its 11-8 road win against Area 4 top seed Buford. In Class 6A-7A, the Milton girls are looking for a historic 13th all-time state

title this weekend as they make their 15th straight state championship appearance against a battle-tested Mill Creek squad. This year’s Milton team is paced by Under Armour All-American and Yale-bound senior Brianna Carrasquillo. The Eagles have demolished the competition this postseason, advancing to the finals with an 80-13 scoring advantage. Mill Creek overcame a three-goal deficit before defeating West Forsyth 11-10 in the semifinals on Wednesday to advance to its first-ever finals and extend its current winning-streak to nine matches. On the boys side, Lambert faced off with Lassiter in the semifinals in a rematch of their 12-6 win over the Trojans in last year’s championship. The Longhorns showcased their defensive prowess and

defeated Lassiter 8-4 to return to the finals. Lambert has averaged 12.8 goals per match offensively this year, while allowing just 3.9 goals per game defensively. Walton (20-2) will take on the Longhorns looking for its first state title since 2011. The Raiders were 13-4 last season, but their 3-3 record in Area 4 kept them out of the postseason. This year, Walton came out of Area 4 as the No. 2 seed and has racked up playoff wins against Johns Creek (12-10), Dunwoody (16-3), Etowah (8-5) and Centennial (8-3) in the semifinals. The Raiders allowed just one goal in each of the first three quarters and then held the Knights scoreless in the final frame. Junior Tate Harran paced Walton with a hat-trick.
