Do you have THIS networking problem? You regularly attend your local business club or chamber networking event. You enjoy meeting up and chatting with people who, you consider now to be friends, and that's great BUT the drawback is - so does everyone else. Unfortunately, there is only so far you can go meeting local people. Most local business communities are quite small, and in the end everybody knows everybody else. If you and your business are happy with this type of cosy atmosphere, all well and good, but maybe you would like to talk to other people, get other ideas and get your business and contacts growing
A Small fish in a big pond ? The world is getting smaller every day and it's never been easier to get connected. The easiest way to connect for most people is via LinkedIn. You and your group might join "LinkedIn Open Networker groups" or "LION" for short and people in those groups will accept any connection.
Or you can actually pay (with real money) to add your email address to a public list that is out there on the web. You will soon be connected with other businesses and ideas, but whic h businesses, what ideas and who you get to talk to are likely to be overwhelming and not at all what you expected (Doing this also removes your right FOR EVER to complain about spam or too much email - Yes these things are connected‌)
Another Way‌ In both cases, it is hard to tell the Sally Scammers from the Gordon Genuines, BUT there is another way and here is the story of two people who are living proof. Aleksandra Milcic Radovanovic is a translator and linguist from Belgrade, Serbia. Aleks translates from eastern European languages into English and she decided to go online and take part in one of our "Tuesday’s webinar" speed networking events. These one hour events allow people from all over the world to talk/chat about themselves and their business and also listen to other participants, allowing them to interact with people they would otherwise have never met. During the chit chat, it turned out that Aleksandra was planning a move to Vancouver, Canada for work and study.
We already knew of another lady from previous Tuesday’s Webinars called Joy Mo, a translator, living in Canada. So straight away, we put Aleks in touch with Joy, a translator, with certified court interpreter experience and the author of "How to avoid feast and famine for freelance translators"
And guess what? They are planning to meet up in Vancouver when Aleks arrives.
Why is “Tuesday’s webinar” so revolutionary...? Firstly - you are the speakers! Secondly - it is totally interactive. Thirdly - you are connecting with people from all around the world Finally-we are the only event doing this type of networking! However just like offline as well as online networking everywhere this is just the starting point.
It's up to you to follow up/ring up/skype up and make the connections - just like Aleks and Joy did. Join us? As well as Aleks and Joy, people from the UK, US, Canada, France, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil already have. Why not check out their testimonials.
