BANARASI SHIKARGAH SAREES A timeless treasure collection, Banarasi Shikargah sarees deserve a place in a wedding trousseau or a seasoned saree collector's wardrobe. Featuring the vintage Mughal Shikargah pattern, these gorgeously colored shikargah sarees with all over gold zari weaved Shikargah motifs depict hunting scenes showing lions, elepahants, deer, birds, rabbit, hunter and riders amid curving foliage. Woven only by about five percent of the weavers in Benaras, this is an extremely rare weave. It is made in the kadhua, meenakari and kimkhwab techniques on the jaala looms in Banaras The traditional designs feature animal & bird motifs and are the benarasi weavers’ tribute to ‘shikar’, the royal hunting hobbies of the kings in medieval times.
