Original Information • Height: small, similar to a Chihuahua • Hair: medium length, ranges from white to dark brown; occasional spotted pattern • Tail: bushy, long • Ears: short and pointed • Feet: unusually large, with small sharp claws • Moderate runner: runs at speed of the average house cat • Omnivorous, but has a particular liking for small birds. • Poor night vision • Mating season: early spring • Males "sing" to the females by chirping, similar to a chipmunk • Males will often mark their territory by spraying musk on numerous trees. • Females tend to prefer the males with darker fur, although this is not exclusive. • After mating, males will continue to search for additional females - they are not monogamous. • Females build small dens inside of the cavities of dead trees to raise their young. The males do not assist with the rearing of the offspring. • After the young are weaned, they leave their mother. These animals live a solitary lifestyle.
