Dear Friends, This Business & Community Resource Guide was created to benefit you – the Bartlett area resident, homeowner, business owner, employee, and friend. We know the importance of helping our community thrive, and in our efforts to help our member businesses grow, rebuild, and recover in these trying times, we encourage you to SUPPORT LOCAL - This includes not only shopping local, eating local, spending local, and enjoying local, but stresses the importance of supporting the service industries and small business who make Bartlett and Hanover Park their homes! The Chamber can introduce you to members who provide the services you need to improve your home, to aid in your health, to offer a great dining experience, to care for your pet, to fix your car, plan your vacation, retirement…the list goes on. These businesses are owned and operated by our neighbors and friends, and using these services keeps our community strong. We invite you to use the Chamber as a resource to get to know your community and benefit from all the services provided. Our members invest time, effort, and resources in the area and in you. Please keep this Resource Guide and refer to our Member Listing when you are ready to make a purchase or investment in a service. It is designed to be an informative and useful resource to outline the services offered by Chamber members, the Villages, local civic and community organizations, schools, community colleges, and more. In addition, please call the office at 630-830-0324 as we are happy to offer personal assistance. If you are a local business owner, please consider all that the Chamber can do to help your business. Build your business and add credibility and visibility as you get involved… People do business with people they know, like, and trust! Why Shop Locally? The math for buying close to home is compelling - for every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, $73 remains in the local economy, and $27 leaves. Compare that to the same $100 spent at a nonlocally owned business, where $43 remains in the local economy and $57 leaves. Recent research from Civic Economics indicates that local eateries return nearly 79% of revenues to the community, compared to just over 30% for chain restaurants. “When profits stay local, it increases the community’s wealth, tax revenue and standard of living,” says Sue Lynn Sasser, Ph.D. and professor of economics at the University of Central Oklahoma. “Small businesses and local businesses are still the backbone of our economy,” Sasser adds. “They are local people serving local people and are generally committed to staying there, raising their families. After all, most businesses started out as a small, local business and earned the success of growing and expanding. It’s the American dream.”
