Whether you visit DeKalb County by train, plane, bus or car, we have access to help you get to your destination. Metra’s Union Pacific West Line offers commuter rail service from Chicago to Elburn, which is only a 20-minute commute to the DeKalb area. We have limousine services, taxis and Uber drivers available to transport you to and from the train station. Greyhound also has a bus stop in DeKalb, and there are three airports within an hour of DeKalb, including Chicago Rockford International Airport, Chicago Midway International Airport and Chicago O’Hare International Airport.

If you have a private aircraft, you can fly directly to our city using the DeKalb Taylor Municipal Airport. The airport has two courtesy vehicles available for their visitors to use while in the area.

The DeKalb Public Transit and Sycamore Public Transit connecting DeKalb and Sycamore are affordable and open to the general public. The cost is $.50 per ride. Exact change is required. Children under 5 ride free. Senior/Disabled $0.25 with Medicare/Medicaid card or other ID K-12 Student $0.25. Buses run Mon.-Fri., from 7 am – 9 pm, except holidays.

Runways are capable of handling small planes and corporate jets. From the north or south, take I-39 to I-88 west, then to the Peace Rd. exit. Instrument landing system for Runway 2 has been published. No landing fees. Airport identifier is DKB.
