Robert G. Scott, 99, of Milan, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, January 10, 2023, with his son by his side. Visitation will be Monday January 16, 2023 from 4:00-7:00pm at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan. Funeral services will be 10:00am Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 1620 1st St W, Milan. Burial will follow in Rural Township Beulah Cemetery. Memorials may be left to First Presbyterian Church.
Robert was born September 16, 1923 in Erie, Illinois, the son of Earl LeRoy and Sylvia Ethlyn Scott. He was an active in the Boy Scouts and in the Methodist Sunday School. After graduating from Erie High School he attended Augustana College and then University of Illinois Law School. He began the practice of law in 1948 at his father’s firm Bell, Farrar and Scott in the Safety Building, Rock Island. Also in 1948, he married Barbara Sample of rural Port Byron and in 1951 they bought a house about a mile south of Milan (now in the center of town) and lived there until Tuesday.
Mr. Scott practiced law in Rock Island for 56 years before joining the Collinson and Scott firm in Milan, with Ken Collinson and with his grandson, Lincoln Scott. He practiced law there in Milan for 8 years and retired on his 90th birthday.
He had served as Village Attorney for Milan and Attorney for Blackhawk Fire Protection District for over 40 years. He was past President of the Rock Island County Bar Association, a founding director of Blackhawk Bank serving as a Director for over 50 years, served as the first Commissioner appointed by the Village of Milan to the Airport Board, had served on the board of Directors of Just Kids Child Care, was past chairman of the board of Commissioners of the Greater Metropolitan Area Housing Authority, served as President of the board of directors of the Foundation for Crippled Children and Adults of Rock Island County, past President of the Milan Area Rotary Club and the “old” Milan Lions Club.
Mr. Scott was a member and former Elder of First Presbyterian Church, Milan, where, till Sunday, he also enjoyed singing in the choir. He had been an avid golfer and was a longtime member of Pinnacle Country Club.
Survivors include his sons, Robert E. Scott and Daniel R. Scott; daughter in law, Mary Scott; grandchildren, Lincoln (Sophia) , Ben (Claire), Emily and Jeff; great grandchildren, Carter, Quinn, Zoe, Hayden and Rowan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara in 2012 and son, William Scott in 2020.

LLOYD L. JOHNSON
Lloyd L. Johnson, 96 of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling. Lloyd was born on November 22, 1926 in Princeton, the son of Carl and Ella Johnson. He was a United States Army Veteran and proudly served in WWII where he was a MP in Germany. He married Arlene Barth on September 9, 1951 in Walnut. She preceded him in death on October 26, 2019. Lloyd was a lifetime farmer and also farmed with son and grandson. He enjoyed taking rides to check his crops and liked flowers and gardening. Lloyd loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom called him Great Johnson. He was a 76 year member of the Walnut American Legion, a past member of the school board, served on the Hahnaman Township committee, and was a longtime member of the Red Oak United Methodist Church in Walnut.
Survivors include his children, Ron (Joni) Johnson of Walnut, Denise (Randy) Cady of Tampico, Doug (Colleen) Johnson of Janesville, WI, Linda (Troy Ottens) Mitchell of Prophetstown, and Pamela (Mike) Lawrence of Prophetstown; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson, Brett (Kate) Johnson, Kimberly (Justin) Kelly, Jeffrey (Kristie) Cady, Myles (Madi Bockheim) Johnson, Ian (Allie Erdmann) Johnson, Ella Johnson, Hunter Mitchell, Kiylie Eads, and Caley (Kyle) Wayne; and nine great grandchildren, Brennan (Heaven), Ashleigh, Coggin, Kaehler, Gillian, Austin, Harrison, Owen, and Khloe.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and his siblings, Arnold, Medora, Pearl, LaVerne, and Russell.
A private family graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at Walnut Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Garland Funeral Home.

CHARLES PETE THIAKOS
Born: September 11, 1933 in Sterling, IL Died: January 9, 2023 in La Salle, IL SHERI RENÈ STEVENS, 60, of Albany, IL, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones. An open house style Celebration of Life will be hosted by her family at Howard’s, 206 S. Main Street in Albany, IL, on Saturday, February 4th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A memorial has been established.
Sheri was born September 3, 1962, in Clinton, IA, to John and Carolyn (Gray) Stevens. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1980. She was a gifted organ player and could be heard playing at many local churches. Her and her siblings, also musically entertained at Nancy’s Landing/Jay’s Grill.
Sheri so enjoyed music, whether it was playing it on the organ, or piano in her early days or dancing the night away to the Country Eagles or Wiskey River at a local pub or in more recent years serenading friends at the bar with the jukebox playing “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights”. Her daughter has fond memories of furniture being all pushed to one side of the room so her and her longtime friend, Michelle, could practice the newest line dance that they learned.
Sheri also enjoyed crochet for many years until her hands were not able to do it any longer. Many of her family and friends have been blessed with the gift of one of her beautiful dolls or afghans.
Sheri was a paid organist as a first job. She worked at Jay’s Grill and spent 35 years at Tyson-IBP in Hillsdale, IL, working her way up the ladder, ending her career in the camera room. Her friends and co-workers were more than that, they were family and wonderful support system through her many bouts of cancer.
Survivors include two children, Jennifer Rose of Cordova, IL and John Kym Rose of Clinton, IA; her mother, Carolyn Stevens of Kimberly, WI; one brother, Larry (Sheila) Stevens of Waunakee, WI; one sister, Lori Wade of Appleton, WI; one niece, Sarah Wade; three nephews, Joshua Wade, Nathan Stevens and Trevor Stevens; six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Jay Stevens.
Charles Pete Thiakos Jr., 89, of Geneseo, Illinois, passed away January 9, 2023, with family by his side, in the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle, Illinois.
Cremation rites have been accorded as Pete chose to donate his remains to science. A celebration of Life will be at a later date.
Pete was born in Sterling, Illinois on September 11, 1933 to Charles and Mamie (Eades) Thiakos. He was a talented machinist right out of high school. He served with the United States Army from 1951-1955. He continued his career as an accomplished Machinist and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal.
He enjoyed racing, riding, collecting and repairing motorcycles, farming, family and repair work. He and his wife, Judy, were members of several motorcycle clubs.
Pete is survived by his wife Judith (VanDamme) Thiakos, 3 children, daughters, Lori Reyes and Tina Thiakos, son, Terry Thiakos, also 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

PATRICIA M. SNYDER, 85, of Geneseo, IL, died on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Allure of Geneseo in Geneseo. At Pat’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation rites have been accorded. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Patricia was born December 14, 1937, in Moline, IL, to Blair and Edith (Lambert) Bryan, Sr. She was educated in the Cordova Grade Schools and Cordova High School and was a 1956 graduate of Erie High School. She was employed at Rock Island County Council on Addictions in Silvis, IL. Pat enjoyed crafting and flower gardening.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary (Jerry) Dobers of Pearce, AZ, Janet (Art) Meier of Prophetstown, IL, and Valerie (Jerry) Bush of Fulton, IL; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Scott Beyer of Geneseo, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Blair Byran, Jr.; one sister, Paula Warren.
LORRAINE J.”PUNKY” NORMAN
Marvin Edward Remrey, 89, of Reynolds, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Cremation rites have been accorded and a private memorial service is being scheduled for a later date. Memorials may be left in care of Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Reynolds is assisting the family.
Marv was born on December 28, 1933 at the family farm in Clinton County, IA, a son of Edward and Lilian (Lage) Remrey. He graduated from Dewitt High School and went on to join the Army. He was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. There he met his first wife, Kris. He later married Nancy Englund in 1984 and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2020.
After his discharge from the Army, he sold tires to the Nascar Racing Circuit before settling at Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company. At Iowa Illinois he was a gas serviceman and retired as a supervisor. He spent years as Chairman of the Board for the Iowa Illinois Credit Union. He also served as Mayor of Reynolds for many years in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. He enjoyed watching Nascar, football, and basketball. He also enjoyed fishing in Wisconsin and he assisted his wife in her popcorn business, Nancy’s Corn.
Those left to cherish his memory include his stepchildren, Judi Morrison Swain, and Scott Morrison; 6 grandchildren, Kyla Swain, Lauren Swain, Robbie Swain, Abbie Swain, Cade Morrison, and Chloe Morrison; sister, Shirley Remrey Poole; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; and stepdaughter, Kari Morrison.

LORRAINE J. “PUNKY” NORMAN, 94, of Asbury Court Living Facility in Des Plaines, IL; formerly of Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Asbury Court.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Dalmus Meeks, retired pastor. A private interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. Memorials to the American Heart Association and the Alzheimer’s Association have been established.

Charlotte Anne “Pete” Frank, 89, of Prophetstown, IL, passed on January 9, 2023.

She was educated in the Morrison grade schools and was a 1946 graduate of Morrison High School. On October 1, 1947 she married David Norman, Jr. in Davenport, IA. He died September 11, 1986. For many years Lorraine worked as a bookkeeper. She retired in 2002 from Navigant International, a corporate travel agency in Chicago. Lorraine enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, cooking and shopping.
Survivors include four daughters, Bonnie L. Norman and Jodee K. Norman, both of Madison, WI, Holly (Steve) Haney of Hoffman Estates, IL and Julie Norman-Geerts of Fulton, IL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Haney, David Haney and Emily (Valentin) Cortes; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed by many close friends from school, work and her time at Asbury.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Collins and Marian Schipper; a son-in-law, David Geerts.

JUNE E. SCUDDER, 82, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Citadel in Sterling, IL, surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Mr. Ken Renkes officiating. A visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. will precede the funeral service. Interment will be at the Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison. A memorial has been established.
June was born June 13, 1940, in Dixon, IL, to Arlie and Sylvia (Sturdivant) Edwards. She was educated in the Franklin Grove Grade School and attended Morrison High School. On November 7, 1958 she married Eugene C. Scudder in Morrison. June was employed by General Electric in Morrison, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Morrison United Methodist Church. She had memberships with the GEM Club and the Whiteside County Snowbirds Club, where she served as president for two years. After retirement June and her husband enjoyed snowbirding in Texas. She had a variety of interests, and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and riding her motorcycle. She was a crocheter and made booties and hats for the premature baby centers in the area. June collected hummingbirds and tea pots. She ran the scoreboard for her children’s baseball games, and she enjoyed spending time with her family on vacations.
Survivors include her husband, Gene; one daughter, Terri Jo Starr of Morrison; two sons, Roger (Cathy) Scudder of Morrison and Tim (Tina) Scudder of Dixon; nine grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Joan (Tom) Merchant of Sacramento, CA and Jane (Vernon) Workman of Sterling, IL; one brother, John (Paula) Edwards of Holland, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson in infancy, Jeremy Lee Starr.
