Morrison

On Sunday, Nov. 6, about 1:16 a.m., Morrison police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Coty A. Mitchell, 34, of Dixon for an equipment violation near the intersection of Bishop Road and East Lincolnway. As a result of the traffic stop, Morrison police arrested Mitchell for driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while license revoked. Morrison police also charged Mitchell with a city of Morrison ordinance for possession of drug paraphernalia. Mitchell was released on a notice to appear in court. Morrison police was assisted by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department and Hunter’s Auto Body.

Shane J. Burden was arrested on a Whiteside County warrant. He was transported to the Whiteside County Jail.

Nov. 7

Autumn N. Karras of Morrison was cited for no valid driver’s license in the 800 block of 14th Avenue. She was released with a promise to comply.

Nov. 9

Abigail E. Sedivy of Savanna was cited for use of a cellphone while driving in the 400 block of 19th Avenue. She was released with a promise to comply.

Individuals named in the police report have been accused of a charge. They are presumed innocent until proved guilty.

RCFPD October Fire Report

Volunteers with the Rapids City Fire Protection District responded to 40 calls for assistance in October. A breakdown of those calls is as follows:

Village of Rapids City – Two EMS calls.

Village of Port Byron – Nine EMS calls, one traffic accident, one water rescue and one fireplace malfunction.

Fire Protection District (Rural) – 13 EMS calls, three traffic accidents, one structure fire, three grass fires, two vehicle fires and one investigation of gas odor.

Automatic Aid was given to the Hillsdale Fire Department for one brush fire and one combine fire. Mutual Aid was given to the Carbon Cliff/Barstow Fire Department for one structure fire.

O’Gara named to the Dean’s List at Palmer College

Erin O’Gara of Prophetstown has been named to the summer 2022 trimester Dean’s List at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Main Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

Anderson accepted for enrollment at Palmer College

Elijah Anderson of Morrison has been accepted for enrollment for the fall 2022 trimester in the general science, bachelor of science program at Palmer College of Chiropractic’s Main Campus in Davenport, Iowa.

Palmer College of Chiropractic, the first and largest college in the chiropractic profession, has campuses in Davenport; San Jose, California; and Port Orange, Florida.

SVCC closing for fall break Nov. 22-28

Sauk Valley Community College will close for its fall break at the end of the business day Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The college will reopen Monday, Nov. 28.
