Our Full Day Kindergarten
St. Patrick Catholic School offers a structured, all-day kindergarten program. It features a very strong academic curriculum that incorporates our Catholic faith throughout. There are two classrooms, and each class has a full-time assistant. We are fortunate to have a phenomenal reading program. The children work on reading with an emphasis on phonemic awareness, phonics, and writing for a minimum of 50 classroom minutes per day. Over 90% of our students are reading by Christmas and are fluently reading and writing by spring. The math curriculum in kindergarten begins the year with teaching students about patterns and ends the year with counting and printing numbers to 100 as well as identifying and using money. In Religion class, the kindergartners learn several Catholic prayers, symbols, and bible stories. We follow the church calendar and celebrate the holy seasons within the classroom. The kindergartners attend all school masses as well as holy day of obligation masses. Hands-on science units include the life cycles of chicks and butterflies, planting and growing seeds, oceans and sea life, and the environment. In social studies, the kindergarteners learn about our United States and other cultures. The students make and share a special Thanksgiving Feast featuring Native Americans and Pilgrims. They learn about history and current events through various themes throughout the year. The kindergartners also have co-curricular classes that help enhance their learning experience. These include weekly Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Art, Computer, and Library classes. Kindergarten is a lot of fun too. The students go on several field trips and have several parties throughout the year. The kindergartners get out of their classrooms to enjoy local children’s theater performances and other field trips. The children learn about the true meaning of Christmas as we count down the days of Advent. Each child makes an Advent wreath and chain. We spread excitement and holiday cheer to others through our community service projects at Heritage Woods and Lazurus House. Parental involvement and presence is strongly encouraged through daily playground duty, hot

lunch preparation, the Mystery Reader program, various parties and activities. The year ends with an original spring performance in which the students learn and sing a variety of songs. The end of the year is punctuated by a special graduation ceremony that features the angelic voices of the graduates and a breakfast reception. St. Patrick Catholic School Now Has a Football Team! The St. Patrick Catholic School Athletic Association kicked off the new school year by introducing a boy’s 5th and 6th grade football team to their sports lineup. Parent volunteers Dr. David Di Iorio, Raul Brizuela, Jay Barresi, and Larry Bettag coached our new football team. According to Coach Di Iorio, “The goals of the new football program are to make football a safe environment, teach fundamentals and grow a successful program that builds school spirit, friendships and exposure to a great sport.” He also looks forward to teaching the team hard work, perseverance, honor, toughness and a team spirit based in faith. School Principal Joseph Battisto commented, “It is our belief that the impact of sports can and should enhance the character and uplift the spirit of the school. Therefore, we are very excited to offer our students another program where they can learn a new sport and represent our school.” The boys played hard all season and really came together as a team. All the members of the team are very proud of their accomplishments this season, and they look forward to hitting the field again in the fall. Way to go Irish!!

Our Catholic faith is the foundation for everything we do. At St. Patrick Catholic School, our Catholic Faith is our identity, and it is woven through the everyday life for all our students. Our students pray together every day. They have religion classes that
teach the basics of our Catholic Faith, the Commandments of God,, and the traditions of our Catholic Church. They attend mass everyy yerr week, have the opportunity to go to confession, participate in prayer h— services, and are surrounded by visible signs of our Catholic Faith— crucifixes and statues. More than half of our graduates continue their religious education by selecting a Catholic High School.
Our Rosary Garden St. Patrick Catholic Church on Crane Road was dedicated on December 8, 1991. On the 20th anniversary of that dedication – December 8, 2011 – our pastor, Monsignor Joseph Linster, all the St. Patrick Catholic School students, many parents, and other friends gathered in the Rosary Garden to bless and dedicate the garden. This splendid garden is located in front of our school building, and it is a wonderful addition to our parish grounds. The Rosary Garden is a welcoming embrace for our students and visitors. Last summer, Parishioners were given the opportunity to dedicate garden pavers and to have them engraved with personal messages. You can spend a lot of time leisurely walking through the garden, reading the many engraved pavers there. The “crown jewel” of the Rosary Garden is definitely the beautiful statue of Jesus with two children sitting on His lap. The garden gets its name from the paverdesigned rosary that encircles this amazing statue. What a fitting setting for a class from school, or for anyone, to gather to pray the rosary and to enjoy this splendid place. It will be especially meaningful for those who have pavers that are engraved with their personal messages. If you would like more information about purchasing a paver for the Rosary Garden, please contact St. Patrick Catholic School at 630/338-8100.
St. Patrickk Catholic School Where Faith and the Future Meet
Statement of Faith It is said that the two greatest gifts parents can give to their children are roots and wings. At. St. Patrick’s School, we strive to help parents establish roots in their children’s lives. We do this primarily by our emphasis on the teachings of Jesus Christ as found in the scriptures and on the traditions of the Catholic Church. Daily prayer, religious instruction, weekly school masses and a Christian atmosphere are the means by which we emphasize these teachings and traditions. The success of our efforts, however, depends greatly on you. For you too much emphasize Jesus’ teachings and our church’s traditions in your home. And your emphasis, like ours, is brought out by praying, worshipping, learning and creating a Christian atmosphere with your children. Working together and with God’s help, we can pass on to your children roots firmly grounded in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
