It’s a weird new world out there in “Fallout,” premiering Friday, April 12, on Prime Video.

Q: With some streaming series getting additional runs on regular TV lately, will Sylvester Stallone’s “Tulsa King” also be one of them?

A: As a matter of fact, yes. CBS announced at the end of February that the Paramount+ drama’s first season will get a broadcast run this summer (a premiere date hadn’t been specified at the time of this writing), and its move to the broadcast network side wasn’t necessarily a sure thing before that news was confirmed, since it seemed such deals largely were being made to help fill gaps created by Hollywood-strike-related production shutdowns last year. However, it makes total sense that “Tulsa King” would also get such treatment, for multiple reasons.

First is the outcome CBS had from running past seasons of Paramount Network’s “Yellowstone,” which proved to be a considerable ratings success. That had been a question mark going in, since no one knew for sure how the Kevin Costner-starring show having already run elsewhere might impact the size of the audience for it on CBS. The gamble paid off, with a sizable number of viewers evidently sampling the saga of the Dutton family for the first time in its broadcast afterlife.

Then, as with Costner in “Yellowstone,” there is the star power of Stallone. He is bound to be a considerable draw for CBS, whether or not those tuning in already have watched “Tulsa King” in its original home … and particularly for those who haven’t seen it yet, big curiosity should exist about how Stallone fares in a series role. Having the first season widely available on CBS also should whet appetites for Season 2, which is expected to start production for Paramount+ in the near future.

Jon Rahm looks to win back to back Masters for first time since 2002

The 2024 Masters returns! It’s the first major of the 2024 PGA season and one of the most anticipated events in the world of golf, as players get set to tee off April 11-14 at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia, with one round airing each day. The first two rounds broadcast live on EPSN and rounds 3 and 4 broadcast live on CBS.

Coming off what was an exceptional 2023 season, 29-yearold Jon Rahm won his second major of his career and earned his first Green Jacket, finishing with a four-stroke victory at the 2023 Masters, putting on a dominant and consistent performance against formidable foes in Phil Mickelson and Brooks Koepka. Heading into this year’s Masters tournament, the Spaniard could potentially be the first back-to-back champion since the great Tiger Woods in 2001-2002.

With his recent Masters victory, as well as his 2021 U.S. Open victory under his belt, Rahm has shown tremendous poise, maintaining a consistent form throughout the majority of his career, displaying a proven ability to excel under pressure and solidifying himself as one of the top golfers heading into this year’s tournament.

While Rahm’s recent play has etched his name as a top contender this season, the competition will be as tough as ever with the likes of world No. 1-ranked Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick all aiming to get a crack at winning their first major trophy of the year.

A whole new world: Post-apocalyptic action series ‘Fallout’ premieres

One of the globe’s most successful video game franchises steps into the world of streaming series. The new action drama “Fallout,” based on the best-selling role-playing games, premieres Friday, April 12, on Prime Video.

Set 200 years after an apocalyptic event, residents of luxury bunker communities venture out onto a planet that has changed beyond belief. Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets”) stars as Lucy, a young woman determined to leave behind the safety of the only life she’s ever known as a vault dweller to survive on the other side of the shelter’s walls on her own.

Per a Prime Video press release, “Fallout” follows vault dwellers “forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind,” leaving them “shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them.” Signature “action, tongue-in-cheek gore and a twisted, post-apocalyptic setting” carry over from the games to the series.

Starring in “Fallout” are Aaron Moten (“Next”) as the Brotherhood of Steel squire, Maximus; Walton Goggins (“The Righteous Gemstones”) as the mutated, immortal bounty hunter known as The Ghoul; Moises Arias (“The King of Staten Island,” 2020) as Lucy’s brother, Norm; Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks”) as Hank, Lucy’s father and the overseer of the vault; Michael Emerson (“Evil”) as wanderer Wilzig; Mike Doyle (“New Amsterdam”) as Mr. Spencer; Johnny Pemberton (“Superstore”) as Thaddeus; Cherien Dabis (“Mo”) as Birdie; Matty

In the official teaser trailer for “Fallout,” Lucy steps over the vault’s threshold and into a grim wasteland. Half-buried, wind-worn skeletons of humans and structures are the only things poking out of the dunes as far as the eye can see, though dangers lurk everywhere.

By the light of a campfire, Wilzig does his best to prepare Lucy for what is ahead of her, telling her, “if you insist on staying, then you will have to adapt.” Adapting is the name of the game in “Fallout.” Humans have either adapted to the safety of the bunkers for generations or have been shaped physically and emotionally by the brutal, barren dystopia left outside. Not to mention the critters evolved to thrive in the desolation — cockroaches the size of cats, a mutant bear and a giant axolotl with fingers for teeth are just a few featured creatures in the teaser. Jonathan Nolan (“Westworld”) serves as executive producer of “Fallout” — with Kilter Films partner Lisa Joy (“The Peripheral”) — and directed the first three episodes. Co-creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Captain Marvel,” 2023) and Graham Wagner (“Portlandia”) also executive produce the series.

This legendary 1952 musical, starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor, kicks off an epic, 100th birthday celebration for the film’s director, Stanley Donen. Q: Is there any movement on the “Community” movie Dan Harmon promised us?

A: The script is “almost” ready. That may not sound like much, but it’s actually pretty encouraging news.

That’s because the script seems to be the last missing piece.

Dan Harmon, who created the beloved NBC sitcom “Community,” basically caved to fans’ demands to make a movie after the show ended in 2015.

Since then, it’s been announced that they have a deal in place to put the movie out on the Peacock streaming service (which makes sense, as the show originally aired on NBC). And the stars have all agreed to appear.

So, all that’s left is the actual script. But for the famously rewrite-addicted Harmon, who’s writing the film, “almost” done is about as good as it gets. And he admits that himself.

“The script is always ‘almost done,’” he told Variety magazine in February.

“What can I tell you about it — it’s set on the campus of Greendale Community College.”

That detail is more significant than it sounds, too. The whole show, of course, was set at Greendale. But a lot of time has passed — we’re at nine years and counting since the show’s sixth and final season ended — and fans were starting to wonder if maybe the movie would be catching up with the characters in their new lives, outside of college.

This is all very exciting for fans who’ve been demanding a movie since before the show even ended.

It started with a line in a Season 2 episode of the show, where Abed (Danny Pudi, “Mythic Quest”) and Jeff (Joel McHale, “Animal Control”) are talking about what amounts to success for a TV show. Abed suggests “six seasons and a movie.” It became a running joke on “Community,” which made a lot of meta jokes about its own success.

So the fact that “Community” ended after its sixth season only added to fans’ demands for the movie. And it looks like they’ll be met sometime in the near-ish future (though no release date has been offered for the movie yet).
