PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

NKCC, Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce, is a regional chamber serving the communities of Carpentersville, East Dundee, Gilberts, Sleepy Hollow and West Dundee. Having worked for the chamber for the past 10 years, I have witnessed the business landscape change significantly. Online shopping, social media engagement and other web-based interactions have deprived us of the personal relationships and dedicated attention that used to accompany our business transactions. In the midst of these changes, chambers have struggled to find relevance, competing with busy schedules and a myriad of networking opportunities and choices. Some question whether chambers are relevant or necessary today. Here is my answer.

MELISSA HERNANDEZ PRESIDENT Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce

Chambers offer the business community a place to come together and share ideas, make new connections and expand their contact base. Networking opportunities are offered in a variety of formats and at a variety of times to suit varying schedules. In addition, chambers offer educational seminars and professional development on relevant topics such as marketing, finance, social media and tools to help the small business owner with limited resources succeed. In addition to educational and networking opportunities, chambers offer access and advocacy with local government. The NKCC works closely with Carpentersville, East Dundee, Gilberts, Sleepy Hollow and West Dundee through community events and other local initiatives to promote shopping local businesses. Rise and Shine events were designed for businesses to have access to village leaders to address questions and concerns. They are hosted on a rotating schedule throughout the year at each participating municipality. Our chamber’s board of directors, representing a wide range of businesses in our community, work hard to make sure the chamber stays relevant, accessible and progressive. Their commitment and dedication has helped NKCC to be viable and dynamic for more than 35 years. Strong businesses make strong communities. The chamber understands that. We work with area service organizations and clubs to clean up our community and make it a better place to live. The NKCC participates in local food drives, local Habitat for Humanity projects, the local Rotary clubs, and the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township to name a few. We truly believe that when we all work together, we all win by making the Northern Kane County region a wonderful place to live, shop and do business! Sincerely,

Melissa Hernandez PRESIDENT

ncorporated in 1890, Gilberts grew up around a train station on the regional rail line. The village population was reported as 6,879 in the 2010 Census but is projected to be as high as 8,073 as of 2017. Gilberts Elementary School is the primary destination for the village’s youngsters to begin their public school education.

Students in Gilberts stay within Community Unit School District 300 as they move up to Hampshire Middle School and then Hampshire High School, where their athletes are known as the “Whip-Purs.” Sonshine Christian Preschool also serves the Gilberts community. When it comes to hospitals, Gilberts’ residents have the option of either Advocate Sherman Hospital or Presence Saint Joseph Hospital in Elgin or the new Northwestern Medicine in Huntley. In addition to its proximity to a variety of retailers on Randall Road, Gilberts boasts several local businesses of its own, including many restaurants, auto repair shops, and a host of other specialty businesses that will cater to your every need. Gilberts is a place close to major cities, but far enough away to provide room for healthy growth of both families and light industrial manufacturing.

Several Christian churches also call Gilberts home. Dating to 1887, St. Peter Lutheran Church is a longtime institution in the village. St. Mary Catholic Church, which dates to the 1800s, is associated with St. Catherine of Siena in West Dundee. Fellowship Life Bible Church is a newer congregation that meets at the elementary school.

VILLAGE OF CARPENTERSVILLE

C

arpentersville is a great community to start a business and put down your roots and start a family! When it comes to businesses, the Walmart Supercenter, anchoring the Route 25 retail corridor, continued to attract national retailers such as Starbucks, Wingstop, and O’Reilly Auto Parts. The Route 31 retail corridor has welcomed Southern Belle’s, Gyradiko, and Jersey Mike’s. The Randall Road retail corridor experienced growth as well with Lou Malnati’s, Meat & Potato Eatery, and Burger King.

Manufacturers in the Spring Hill Center for Commerce & Industry Business Park and along the Maple Avenue industrial area offer high-paying positions in the tool & die, fabrication, injection molding, food processing, and high-tech industries. For families, Carpentersville has provided a variety of housing options throughout the community from starter homes to large, upscale single family residences. Adjacent to the Fox River, the Old Town neighborhood is lined with historic homes and surrounds Carpenter Park. Recently, Carpentersville has focused on improving the parks. Carpenter Park has experienced a major renovation. The improvements have included new playground equipment, a disc golf course, a walking track with exercise stations, a softball field, band shell improvements, multiuse trails with a connection to the Fox River Trail, and a historic area where visitors can learn more about Carpentersville’s history.

There are also numerous other outdoor recreation opportunities in addition to Carpenter Park. The Chicago Area Mountain Bikers (CAMBr) have been making improvements to Keith Andres Park and Raceway Woods for several years, creating a destination known throughout the Midwest as one of the premier destinations to do mountain biking. Since 2012 CAMBr has volunteered hundreds of hours to transform Keith Andres Park into a 25 acre bike park and have created a three and half mile bike trail through Raceway Woods. Carpentersville is a great place to shop, play, and work.

VILLAGE OF EAST DUNDEE

T

he Village of East Dundee, a home rule community as defined by the Illinois Constitution, is located approximately 35 miles west of the City of Chicago, in both Kane and Cook Counties, along the Fox River. According to the 2010 census, there were 2,860 residents with current estimates at 3,198. East Dundee encompasses approximately 3.1 square miles. In 1837, Thomas Deweese platted most of East Dundee as one of the first settlers of the area. With the Chicago - Northwestern train line running through the center of town, East

Dundee production of dairy and cheese could be easily transported. Prior to the train line all products were moved by horse and wagon to connect with the train which was about 7 miles north. In 1871 the year of the “Great Chicago Fire”, Haeger Brick Company, now Haeger Pottery, produced bricks to help rebuild the up and coming Chicago. The feed and coal store is where Dundee Lumber was located, the railway is now a bicycle path, and the train depot rebuilt in 1984 is located in the center of downtown. Today, East Dundee is a vibrant, thriving community dedicated to supporting its residents and businesses. The Village is committed to building a sustainable community through fiscal responsibility, and incentivizing private property and infrastructure improvements through the Village’s 8 Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Districts, and 3 Business Development Districts. The Village is home to a vibrant business and industry community, including two premier car dealerships and the recent addition of GAT Guns, the largest firearms super store in the

Midwest. Residents and visitors of East Dundee can enjoy an array of unique retail, delicious dining, fun social activities, including familyfavorite Santa’s Village Azoosment Park, and recreational opportunities with direct access to the Fox River Bike Trail. A picturesque historic downtown, with the former train depot (now a visitor center) in the heart of the district is home to many popular year-round special events, including Motor Monday, Wine Down Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, Oktoberfest, Dickens in Dundee, and St. Patrick’s Day Parade. With plans for new development projects along the Village’s Route 72 and Route 25 corridors, the future is now here in East Dundee!

est Dundee offers small-town charm and regional convenience. The community’s rich heritage is showcased in the historic downtown business district which offers a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities adjacent to a picturesque river walk. Near its highway crossroads of Routes 72 and 31, West Dundee is home to Spring Hill Mall, an evolving regional and specialty retail and restaurant center; and with convenient access to the Randall Road corridor, the Oakview Corporate Park is home to Leafs Ice Center and the U.S. headquarters of various international companies including UK-based Renishaw and Germany-based Helukabel and Oelheld.

As the physical and symbolic heart of the community, downtown has seen significant investment in building stock with multiple authentic restorations and the new businesses that followed, including Bleuroot Farm-to-Table, Bamboozels Bar & Grill, Craft Donuts & Coffee, Rochaus, an intimate live music venue, specialty retailers in Boxwood Home Design & Cabinetry, Around the Corner Candy, and 124 Lofts, which offers urban-style lodging. These new businesses have joined restaurant institutions, Emmett’s Brewing Company and The Village Squire, among others, to form a burgeoning culinary and entertainment destination district. The trend continues, with 2019 seeing the addition of Woodfire, a full-service restaurant featuring authentic Italian cuisine and brick-oven artisanal pizza, and the Village’s completion of a block-long extension of the river walk, bringing the amenity to the south side of Main Street for the first time. West Dundee is offering new housing choices with the recent completion of 260 luxury apartments at the Springs at Canterfield near the I-90 interchange, and 2019 will see the completion of 61 independent-living apartments at Spring Hill Senior Residences near the mall.

Access to colleges and universities, quaint residential neighborhoods, and the availability of quality medical facilities provide West Dundee residents and businesses amenities and services to promote an ample, well-trained work force and high quality of life. West Dundee celebrates together through annual events including Concerts in the Park during the months of June and July, the Intelligentsia Cup, a professional cycling race in July, Heritage Fest, a large three-day outdoor festival in mid-September, the West Dundee Halloween Party in October, and Dickens in Dundee, a Victorian-themed kick-off to the holiday season that takes place the first weekend in December. To give visibility to West Dundee’s local businesses, free promotion is available through a customized listing where offers, news and more can be made available to customers. Please visit shopdine.wdundee.org or download the “Shop West Dundee” app on your smart phone to access content and learn more about the retail, restaurant, and service businesses that give West Dundee its unique character. leepy Hollow builds a thriving community for residents and visitors.

Incorporated in 1958, Sleepy Hollow began its life as a carefully planned community designed to be more hospitable than the typical suburb. Its population was estimated at 3,695 in 2005. A community garden project helps residents gather their own locally grown vegetables, and the Giving Garden supports area food pantries. Sleepy Hollow Elementary School is part of Community Unit School District 300. Students generally go on to Dundee Middle School in West Dundee and then Dundee-Crown High School in Carpentersville or Jacobs High

School in Algonquin. Sleepy Hollow KinderCare offers programs for infants to 12-year-olds. There are two local hospitals in nearby Elgin, Advocate Sherman Hospital and Presence Saint Joseph Hospital. Advocate launched a new campus in 2009 and has 255 beds. Presence, built in 1902, has 184 beds. In Sleepy Hollow, 1st Choice Physical Therapy focuses on orthopedic and sports physical therapy services, and Brar Dentistry takes care of teeth cleanings, braces and other needs.

BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS ACTIVE MEDICAL CENTER BY KEVIN DRULEY Active Medical Center embraces a team approach to health care to serve patients in an individual yet multifaceted manner. “Our unique and truly expert team of medical, physical therapy, rehab, and chiropractic professionals work together to create a comprehensive and individualized program for every patient,” said Dr. Jeremy Darnell, the facility’s owner and clinical director. “Our goal is to alleviate pain and improve a person’s physical health to thereby revitalize that person’s ability to live the life they choose. We are ecstatic that this philosophy has brought people back to life and has allowed them to enjoy activities they thought weren’t possible.” Specialized services and treatment consultations the center offers include: stem cell therapy, decompression, student injuries, medical weight loss, IV

nutrition, physical therapy, chiropractic care, neck pain, lower back pain, knee pain, sciatica, sports injuries, migraine, and foot level orthotics. “We want to create a WOW experience for patients,” Darnell said. “We work hard to foster an environment that is positive, full of energy, and fun. Clear communication is also vital to a patient’s great experience, as is helping patients stay accountable to their treatment plan. This requires upfront and honest communication regarding a patient’s number of visits and their investment. “In the end, we love creating an environment in which our patients can make progress, get out of pain and have fun while they are doing it. In addition, each patient’s care is reviewed daily, as a team, so they can get the results they need.”

BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS HICKEY FINANCIAL GROUP: ALLSTATE INSURANCE BY ELIZABETH CZAPSKI Shopping around for insurance policies can be difficult and confusing, but longtime resident and Allstate Insurance agent Daniel Hickey is committed to making the process as easy as possible. Hickey purchased his business in early 2014, and he said that since then, it has grown to ten times its original size. He said he has won business awards four out of the five years he has owned it. Hickey Financial Group offers auto, home, condo, business, life and retirement insurance. All auto policies come with a Claims Satisfaction Guarantee—if you’re not happy with your claim, you get a refund, Hickey said. For home and condo policies, Hickey Financial offers an option that gives you $400+ off your rate for having a new roof. “So, if you just got one, call us,” Hickey said. For businesses, there are multiple options: business owner policies, commercial package

policies, workers compensation, and employee benefits. For life and retirement insurance, Hickey said his group offers “a complete line of financial services” such as life insurance, 529 plans and IRA rollovers. “Call us if you want to protect your family or you have just left a job and want to invest your 401K in a pre-tax IRA,” he said. This is just a sampling of the policies Hickey offers clients. In addition, clients receive a phone call at least once a year to review their policies. Hickey hopes to expand to two agencies or buy an office building so that his group will be able to serve and hire more people in the area. He also wants to bump his number of customers with life insurance policies to over 50 percent.

Hickey’s group takes an active role in the community as both a donor and as volunteers with the Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce, the Moose Club Charities, Turning Point Domestic Violence Shelter, and Home of the Sparrow. His team does two volunteer days each year. “This past year we volunteered at a charity mud run, painted a home for a homeless woman and kids, and did a food drive,” he said.

BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS FASTSIGNS BY KEVIN DRULEY “Sign, sign everywhere a sign.” So sang Five Man Electrical Band in the mid-1970s. When it comes to the sharpest and most recognizable of these ubiquitous landmarks, however, Fastsigns of Carpentersville rises above its competitors to go beyond the usual. A business that uses custom signs, banners, and graphics to boost the visibility of other businesses strives to stand alone through exemplary execution and customer service. At the helm of the operation for nearly nine years, owner Pat Gibbs leads a staff geared toward providing top-notch visual communications solutions for businesses spanning all sizes and industries. BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS MEAT & POTATO EATERY BY ELIZABETH CZAPSKI Sometimes, you crave something simple, like the standard American fare of meat and potatoes. Meat & Potato Eatery does serve meat and potatoes in various forms, but its menu is far from simple, offering a variety of sandwiches, salads, gyros, kabobs, meat and potato bowls, and more. The brains behind the establishment are Ted and Andy Zatos, who decided after 27 years in the food industry to develop their own fast-casual restaurant in 2015. Meat & Potatoes also features a dine-in area and a game room. The Carpentersville location opened in December of 2017. Other locations serve customers in McHenry and Lake Zurich. Chief Operating Officer Colin Hegarty said in a story by the Daily Herald that “the biggest thing we’re excited for is being able to take care of the local community.

BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS ROSIE O’HARE’S PUBLIC HOUSE BY ELIZABETH CZAPSKI

ROSIE O’HARE’S PUBLIC HOUSE 702 Water St. East Dundee, IL 60118 847-426-1116 rosieohares.com Monday – Thursday 11 a.m. – 1 a.m. Friday & Saturday 11 a.m. – 2 a.m. Sundays 9 a.m. – 1 a.m.

Every town needs a neighborhood pub, somewhere locals and visitors alike can relax and enjoy good food among friendly faces. In East Dundee, that’s Rosie O’Hare’s Public House. The family-friendly restaurant serves the best food and drinks for the best value in town, according to its owners, Gary and Jamie Mueller. Rosie O’Hare’s has its own outdoor meat smoker, offering prime rib dinners every Saturday, and thick-cut corned beef and Reubens daily. For weekend breakfasts, the restaurant serves eggs from a local vendor with bartender Dee’s famous Bloody Marys. The Muellers said Rosie O’Hare’s is known for having the coldest draft beer in town. Its bottled beer is kept cold with an antique glass beer cooler. The restaurant is in a historic building with views of the Fox River and its wildlife. “Each winter, we’re the go-to bar in town to watch the eagles flying up and down the river,” said the Muellers. Stained glass windows portraying the history of

Dundee surround the bar, and the Muellers hope to finish the window set with panes that show the eagles on the river. Starting in January, the restaurant’s upstairs will be used as a quiet dining area on Friday and Saturday nights. Most of the time, this area is used as a private party room. The Muellers also plan to host beer, wine and whiskey dinners supporting local businesses, and to continue to actively promote their outside catering. Over the years, Rosie O’Hare’s has become a community staple. “Our local chamber NKCC and the Village of East Dundee are always thinking of ways to support local businesses and we’re no exception. We appreciate the involvement in the community, and in turn we’re always there to give back in any way we can,” the Muellers said. “Our customers have truly become family, and we can’t thank everyone enough for their support through the last seven years we’ve been in business.”

BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARDS SPRING HILL MALL BY ELIZABETH CZAPSKI With a long list of stores selling everything from clothes and shoes to music and electronics, Spring Hill Mall is a shopper’s paradise. Grab a soft pretzel at Auntie Anne’s, browse the latest trends at H&M, or make your way through the numerous departments at Macy’s or Sears.

But even more changes are in the works. According to The Chicago Tribune, Carpentersville and West Dundee plan to partner to develop the mall and the area around it even further. The revitalization project could make the mall more walkable, as well as add residential and office space.

For the kids, there’s a play area and chalkboard that were added recently as part of a renovation to add more indoor amenities. Other additions include soft seating and free WiFi, according to the mall’s website.

One proposed plan includes adding a new mixed-use “Main Street” that would be visible from West Dundee’s real Main Street, according to the Tribune.

Additionally, parts of the mall were redeveloped in 2015 to add a stadium seat movie theater and an indoor/outdoor restaurant pavilion.

Spring Hill Mall is focused on becoming the best version of itself. Stop by to see the changes for yourself.

OCTOBER 26, 2019 HALLOWEEN IN THE HOLLOW There aren’t many events where you get to see the famed “Headless Horseman” from Washington Irving’s classic tale, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” But ever since the early 1970s, Sleepy Hollow has taken its name to heart once a year for a big Halloween event at Sabatino Park. The build-up for this event

FOX RIVER VALLEY LIBRARIES Dundee Library and Randall Oaks Library

F

or 140 years, Fox River Valley Libraries have been an important community resource. The library’s mission is to provide equal opportunity for all to learn, explore, imagine, create, and connect in a welcoming environment. This is achieved on a daily basis through the collection of materials and wide selection of programs available to the 70,000 residents of East Dundee, West Dundee, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts, and parts of Algonquin, Elgin and Barrington Hills. A vibrant Children’s Department offers programs designed to help children from birth to age twelve develop the skills they need to be life-long learners. With book and math clubs, computer classes and 3D printing, STEM and Maker programs, gaming and crafting, the library provides learning experiences in an array of interests. Teens expand their knowledge and interests with a collection developed just for them, supported by collaborative programs where they can share their creativity. Movies, craft labs, standardized test practice sessions, and clubs provide opportunities for teens to gather and explore new ideas. Informational programs on topics such as Social Security, Medicare, estate planning, history, genealogy, social media, and more, as well as cultural presentations and lectures, satisfy the lifelong learning needs of the adult population. Public computers and technology classes help residents pursue their education and gain and improve job skills. The Dundee Library offers Spanish language books, movies, classes, programs on citizenship, and certificates for computer classes. Library services are not contained within walls of a building anymore. eBooks, eAudiobooks, and streaming music, movies, and television are available to library card holders 24/7. A valuable collection of online database subscriptions provide access to searchable information on genealogy, job and career help, consumer reports, automotive information, and online learning classes. Learn more about the library at www.frvpld.info. The Fox River Valley Public Library District serves 70,000 residents with two locations: the Dundee Library, 555 Barrington Avenue, East Dundee; and the Randall Oaks Library, 500 N. NORTHERN KANE COUNTY TRAILS

RACEWAY WOODS offers a leafy welcome to bicyclists Whether your goal is to take in a scenic longdistance bike ride down the Fox River, tool around one of Kane County’s many charming villages, or get an intense mountain biking workout, there are plenty of options to indulge your bicycling needs.

RACEWAY TRAIL The key feature of Raceway Woods Forest Preserve in Carpentersville, Raceway Mountain Bike Trail follows what used to be the Meadowdale International race track. The now-paved track is a focus of The Chicago Area Mountain Bikers, also known as CAMBr. With the oversight of the village of Carpentersville, CAMBr members work to clear brush and enhance existing features of the bike trail for the use of the group and the surrounding community. CAMBr, through a Facebook group and other means, organizes regular workday events to keep the trail in good shape. The group also

28 | NORTHERN KANE COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

NKCChamber.indd 28

1/14/19 4:46 PM

fundraises to pay for future improvements for features like jumps and downhill trails. A map on the CAMBr website (CAMBr.org) of the Raceway Trail includes fanciful names for various sections of the trail, including Little Monza Trail, Silo Hill Trail, Corkscrew Trail and Serpentine Trail. One section, labeled “Scarab’s Revenge,” is marked as a “difficult section of trail” on the map. CAMBr members monitor the conditions of Raceway Trail on a regular basis and share information via social media, both to help fellow cyclists best enjoy the trail, and also to keep the trails in good shape. Raceway Woods Forest Preserve is a 112 acre plot of land about a mile north of Huntley Road. The preserve itself is jointly controlled by the Kane County Forest Preserve District and the Dundee Township Park District. There’s a horseback riding area and picnicking areas in addition to the bike trails. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. For more information, call 630-232-5980 or visit www.kaneforest.com. KEITH ANDRES PARK Named after a Carpentersville resident killed in the Vietnam War, Andres park is home to a bike challenge course that is being maintained and improved by a local group of volunteers. The 25-acre park includes a basketball court, playground and mountain bike skills area. There’s off-street parking available for visitors. The Chicago Area Mountain Bikers group is leading efforts to improve the park’s biking features. The group’s efforts are documented on the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ AndresBikePark. There, CAMBr members have shared information on their work to build assorted hills and jumps that give mountain bikers chances to get some big air and encounter terrain that’s not commonly found in the Chicago area. Cyclists can also get information from CAMBr as to the condition of the trail on Facebook to avoid poor biking conditions and prevent damage to the trail.

Along its route, the trail winds past a number of cities and villages, including Carpentersville, East Dundee and West Dundee, Elgin and South Elgin, the Tri-Cities (St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia), North Aurora and Aurora. As its name suggests, the trail follows and in some instances crosses the scenic Fox River. The Kane County Forest Preserve District lists a number of their properties that are in close proximity to the trail, including Fox River Shores, Tyler Creek, Tekakwitha Woods, Fabyan Forest Preserve and more. If fishing is your leisure activity of choice, the Fox River Trail connects many of the best fishing spots in Kane County. The river is known for bass, catfish and walleye. The Fox River Trail connects with the Illinois Prairie Path, which goes east through DuPage County toward Chicago, near Aurora. Also in Aurora, the Virgil L. Gilman Trail heads west toward Montgomery. At the northern end of the Fox River Trail in Algonquin, it connects with the Prairie Trail, which continues north toward Wisconsin.

According to CAMBr, the park had been neglected for decades before the group signed an agreement with the village. The park was “used as an unauthorized dump and the scene of gang related activity,” according to the park’s Facebook page. As CAMBr’s efforts to fix up the park bear fruit, the village is looking into adding more parking to accommodate the increase in usage and ease the impact of traffic on the surrounding neighborhood. The construction of restrooms is also under consideration by the village. FOX RIVER TRAIL One of the landmark trails of the Chicago region, the Fox River Trail is a more than 40-mile course that traverses the eastern edge of Kane County from north to south. The route starts in Algonquin at the McHenry County line and concludes in Oswego in Kendall County - or vice versa. The trail is ideal for bicycling, but it’s also used for hiking, crosscountry skiing and jogging, among other uses.

The roster of schools includes 16 elementary schools, five middle schools, three high schools (Dundee-Crown, Hampshire and Jacobs) one preschool, one alternative school and one charter school. For families in need, the district supports the District 300 Food Pantry at Carpentersville Middle School (100 Cleveland Ave., Door 20, Carpentersville). The pantry is open every Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. to families that reside within the District 300 boundaries. The nonprofit D300 Foundation works in concert with the school district to support educational activities not supported by tax dollars. The foundation initiated a Summer Theater Program that is now part of the district’s official curriculum. Other events include the annual golf outing and the Cultural Arts on the Fox event, for which students submit artwork.

THE THREE HIGH SCHOOLS ARE EACH NOTED FOR THEIR ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

DUNDEE-CROWN HIGH SCHOOL

Located at 1500 Kings Road in Carpentersville, D-C was formed by the combination of the Dundee High School and Irving Crown High School in 1983. With a listed enrollment of 2,476, the school serves Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow, Hampshire, Algonquin, Gilberts and Cary. The girls basketball team has seen a great deal of postseason success in recent seasons.

HAMPSHIRE HIGH SCHOOL

Situated at 1600 Big Timber Road in Hampshire, the school’s athletic teams enjoy the unique moniker of “Whip-Purs, a reference to their white and purple color scheme. Completed in 2008, the high school is one of the newest structures in the school district.

The school has a listed enrollment of 1,588. The Hampshire football team has earned three state titles in football, in 1976-77, 1979-80 and 1995-96. They also earned a state title in cheerleading in 2014-15. The school has also seen state tournament appearances in girls volleyball and girls soccer in the past decade.

JACOBS HIGH SCHOOL

Based in Algonquin, Jacobs is at 2601 Bunker Hill Drive and also serves students in Lake in the Hills, Dundee, Carpentersville, Gilberts, Hampshire, Sleepy Hollow, Barrington Hills, Cary, Fox River Grove and Pingree Grove. Listed enrollment is 2,122. The Jacobs baseball team, the Golden Eagles, came in third in their class in the 2013-14 school year.
