The Lakeside Festival welcomes all of our family, friends, and neighbors for our 44th Annual 4th Of July weekend. The Lakeside Festival is McHenry County’s longest running annual celebration of family fun, food, fun rides, and great music.

The Lakeside Festival (FEST) is the largest fundraising event for The Dole, yet many people still do not know that FEST isn’t funded by the City of Crystal Lake. The annual operating budget for The Dole is over $1 million a year and The Dole needs events like FEST and Farmers Market+ to help maintain the Mansion plus 12 acres of green property. We are forever thankful to our group of veteran volunteers, called the FEST Committee, and our many amazing FEST sponsors. FEST would not be possible without them and the amazing staff of The Dole, which have for years been making FEST one of our community’s favorite events of the summer.

We have continued our work to maintain and renovate the Mansion and improve the overall property. We have commenced the most significant restoration of the second floor of the Mansion in 100 years. We have added HVAC to the ground floor of the Mansion and plan to in the 2nd floor renovation so that the Mansion can be used yearround. We have repaired all of the 2nd and 3rd floor windows in the Mansion that could no longer keep out the weather and were becoming unsightly. We have planted 90” spade white swamp oak trees, the same indigenous varietal, to replace the old oak trees that have died due to age or storm damage in the main central gathering area of The Dole. We continue to work diligently to deliver on our mission to preserve and protect The Dole. Your partnership with us is critical in helping us sustain and improve the Dole Mansion, Lakeside building and the entire property for the surrounding communities to enjoy for generations to come.

Happy Independence Day!

The Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and its members wish everyone a wonderful Lakeside Festival and Independence Day Parade. This is an exceptional time of the year for our community as we gather to celebrate with family and friends and give thanks for the freedoms we enjoy. Our vibrant local business community is a pillar of support for numerous events throughout the year, and the Lakeside Festival is no exception. This year, from Thursday, July 4 through Sunday, July 7, we invite you to join us at The Dole for a weekend filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit. The festivities will reach their peak at sundown on Sunday with a breathtaking fireworks display.

As a part of the celebration, the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the City of Crystal Lake to organize the Independence Day Parade. Due to road construction, the route will be different this year. The parade will begin on Sunday, July 7, at 1:00 pm at City Hall. It will start on Dole Ave, head west on Crystal Lake Ave, and proceed to Oak Street, turning north and ending at St. Thomas. It’s a joy to see generations of families lining the streets to view the parade and enjoy this Crystal Lake tradition.

A special thank you to the City of Crystal Lake, Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works Department, Lions Club, and volunteers who contributed countless hours to make the parade possible.
