While we have a global reach, our heart stays local. We strive to make a difference in our community and to support our neighbors in need.
Letter from Board President of The Dole
Welcome to all of our friends and neighbors as we celebrate our 43rd Annual 4th of July weekend Lakeside Festival, the longest running Festival in McHenry County, filled with fun for family & friends, food, carnival rides and excellent music!
The Lakeside Festival (FEST) is The Dole’s largest annual fundraising event. It is important to know that FEST is not funded by the city of Crystal Lake and it costs over $1m just to keep The Dole operating. FEST is brought to you by a dedicated group of volunteers known as the FEST committee and our incredible FEST sponsors! We are incredibly thankful to them and also to The Dole’s amazing staff for the many years of assuring a safe, smooth running, entertaining event at The Dole!
FEST is the perfect venue to kick off the summer and it gives us at The Dole the opportunity to highlight some of the recent improvements to the property. The Dole’s Mission is to preserve and protect the Dole Mansion and it’s beautiful 12 acre green grounds to create a go-to community destination. A few examples are the recently painted wood exterior casing on the mansion to the original white color it was when it was built in 1865; we have installed landscape lights allowing the community to see the beauty of the mansion at night; we have replaced the old eye sore glass block windows with 4 sets of giant paned glass windows that are based on the original windows installed when the expansion was built, thereby giving our guests a beautiful view of the grounds and Crystal Lake from inside the building. We are adding more tables and seating for our Farmer’s Market+ and Music Under the Trees and more…
We work hard to deliver on our Mission. Your partnership with us is critical in helping us continue to improve and sustain The Dole as a true jewel for the local and surrounding communities.
We sincerely thank you for your support and for joining us as we once again celebrate our 4th of July and each other at FEST 2023!

Thirty years. It’s an eternity in rock ‘n’ roll, and a marathon for the bands who fly its tattered flag. Revisit the class of 1988, and the casualties are piled high: a thousand bands that blew up and burnt out. In this chew-and-spit industry, the Spin Doctors are the last men standing, still making music like their lives depend on it, still riding the bus, still shaking the room. Even now, plans are afoot for a seventh studio album and another swashbuckling world tour, adding to their tally of almost two thousand shows.
