The Ogle County Horse Barn Committee will sell raffle tickets for a 65-inch TV at its Build-a-Barn booth on the Ogle County Fairgrounds during the fair July 31 through Aug. 4. The drawing for the TV, donated by Exelon Generation, will be held on Oct. 13 during the committee’s Spooktacular Horse Expo, a two-day event at the fairgrounds. Another donor has issued a Matching Funds Challenge for the barn. This donor will match dollar for dollar up to $2,000, for all donations made during the 2019 Ogle County Fair. Many donors have sponsored events and classes in horse shows. The third annual Build-A-Barn Ogle County Fair Show will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a

full schedule of halter, performance, and speed classes. Classes for draft horses and mini horses have been included this year. The Build-A-Barn committee is raising funds to build an exhibition horse barn at the fairgrounds. The barn and arena will be available for rent for various horse activities, which, in turn, will attract more people to the area, potentially bringing increased revenue for local merchants. The exhibition stalls can be disassembled during the winter months, and the barn used for RV storage, increasing revenue for the fair association. To donate, sponsor classes, join the committee, or volunteer, contact Lynne Radville at shadowboxerarabians@gmail.com or Linda Schreiber at taffysbucky@gmail.com.

Big Hat Rodeo is Friday night Bucking broncos, bull riding, and rodeo clowns will all be featured Friday, Aug. 2 when the Big Hat Rodeo takes to the arena at the Grandstands at the Ogle County Fair. Tickets to watch the 7 p.m. show are $10 in addition to fair admission. Big Hat Rodeo, owned and operated by the Calzavara Family, Jefferson, Wisconsin, is in its 99th year and features a combination of traditional events paired with spectacular bucking livestock, the hottest specialty acts, synchronized music, hilarious, family-friendly clowns, non-stop excitement and tons of surprises. It has been in operation in the International Professional Rodeo Association for more than 60 years. Events include bareback riding, tie down roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, cowgirls barrel racing, bull riding, and team roping. Come and cheer on many local competitors as they also try to earn the best score in the ring. Prize money is at stake for these performers. Every year the horses that perform during the show arrive in Ogle County early to get comfortable with the area. Big Hat Rodeo holds events in the Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa, and other midwestern locations. Additional information about the Big Hat Rodeo is available by visiting the fair website at www. oglecountyfair.com or www.bighatrodeo.com.
