Track and field season has officially arrived as the 2025 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix kicks off Sunday, Feb. 2, at The Track at New Balance in Boston. All the action broadcasts live on NBC and Peacock.
Part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix promises to be a thrilling event in 2025, with each athlete aiming to begin the track season on a strong note in their respective events.
Leading the charge in this year’s 60-meter showdown is none other than 2024 reigning Olympic 100-meter champion Noah Lyles, who will be looking to run away with his fourth consecutive victory in the event. Last season, Lyles finished with a personal best and meeting record of 6.44 seconds — underscoring his speed, dominance and overall commitment to improving each season, specifically as it relates to his start and acceleration phases, which have all seen vast improvements.
Despite Lyles coming up short at the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, finishing second to Christian Coleman, his season couldn’t have ended on a better note,
with Lyles walking away with a gold medal in the 100 meters and a bronze medal in the 200-meter race at the Paris Olympics. Now, the sprinter will be looking to live up to some high expectations as he looks to continue holding the title of “The Fastest Man Alive.”
Another notable name to pay attention to is Julien Alfred of St. Lucia, the Olympic 100-meter champion, who is set to make her New Balance Indoor Grand Prix debut. Alfred’s 2024 season was dominant to say the least, winning all 60-meter events of 2024 — including a world-leading time of 6.98 seconds to win gold at the 2024 World Indoor Championships in Glasgow.

What you don’t know can’t hurt you, right? While that may be true sometimes, a new procedural drama supposes what could happen if the most dangerous secret facility imaginable was breached. In the brand-new series “The Hunting Party,” premiering Monday, Feb. 3, on NBC, FBI agent Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh, “Manifest”) is tasked with tracking down the country’s most unpredictable inmates, who have escaped from an underground, off-the-books prison.
Most people are familiar with the FBI’s most wanted list of suspects alleged to have committed serious crimes. But what happens when those suspects are brought to justice and disappear into the system, never to be heard of again? “The Hunting Party” suggests that a high-level operation of deep solitary confinement keeps America’s most vicious criminals hidden far underground, away from society.
The inciting incident in the series is an explosion revealing the classified prison hidden beneath innocuous-looking farmland. The blast sets many inmates — who have been disappeared in one way or another on paper — free to roam and possibly commit more crimes in a world that has no idea they are still alive. Skilled profiler Bex Henderson is brought in to lead a small team of highly specialized agents, only learning about the existence of the bunker facility once she’s brought on board to round up those inmates who have survived the blast and are now in the wind.
Bex’s team searches for the fugitives on the loose, but as they get deeper down the rabbit hole of the investigation, it becomes clear that there was a sinister reason behind
the jailbreak — the explosion was planned.
“The blast was no accident,” Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler, “Revenge”) tells Bex in the series’ official trailer, “Someone wanted those killers back out in the world.”
Oliver, who joins Bex’s investigative team, has a romantic past with the profiler, but both agents have bigger fish to fry and try to put their past behind them to work together. The rest of the team is made up of Ryan Hassani (Patrick Sabongui, “The Flash”), Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie, “La Brea”) and Jennifer Morales (Sara Garcia, “Ride”).
“The Hunting Party” was created by JJ Bailey (“Echo”), who serves as the series’ co-showrunner with writer Jake Coburn (“The Endgame”). Thor Freudenthal (“Carnival Row”) directs the series, while Keto Shimizu (“DC’s Legends of Tomorrow”) writes alongside Bailey and Coburn. All four also executive produce the show.
Also starring in the series is Tobias Jelinek (“This Is Us”) as serial killer Richard Harris, who is used to introduce Bex to the secret prison. Brought in by Elizabeth Mallory (Zabryna Guevara, “New Amsterdam”) to provide an assessment of the murderer, Bex questions why she has been asked to give a profile of a dead killer. Little does she know that Harris is alive and unwell and, now on the run, is ready for a cat-and-mouse chase with the investigator.
“The longer they’re out there, the more dangerous they’re going to become,” Bex tells her team in the trailer, underlining how important it is that they find the escapees. The trailer also features shots of elaborately staged crime scenes with unnervingly posed corpses — reminiscent of
work of
killer Hannibal Lecter, portrayed by Mads Mikkelsen (“Casino Royale,” 2006), in NBC’s beloved horror series “Hannibal.” “Highly intelligent malignant narcissists,” Bex calls the inmates
they’re searching for. They are the most sophisticated and hard to pin down of all the criminals, unless of course the searching is being done by a team made up exclusively of elites like Bex.

Q: It’s nice that Kat Dennings has come back to weekly TV in “Shifting Gears.” What did she do between “2 Broke Girls” and her new show?
A: She actually returned to series work fairly soon after the six-season CBS run of “2 Broke Girls” ended in 2017, voicing the character Leah Birch in the animated Netflix show “Big Mouth” for its first four seasons (2017-21). “Saturday Night Live’s” Chloe Fineman assumed the part after that. Then, Dennings starred in the Hulu comedy “Dollface” (2019-22), for which she was also an executive producer; she played a web designer trying to bounce back from a breakup.
Dennings’ ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe have also kept her employed, as she has continued a certain role. She was a regular on the 2021 Disney+ series “WandaVision” as Darcy Lewis, a character she had originated in the “Thor” theatrical films. She was heard as an animated incarnation of Darcy in several episodes of the 2021-24 Disney+ series “What If...?” and she also reprised the part in a cameo in the 2022 movie “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
Additionally, Dennings was part of the ensemble cast of the 2020 comedy-drama movie “Friendsgiving” (also starring Malin Akerman, Aisha Tyler, Jane Seymour and Wanda Sykes, among others). On ABC’s new “Shifting Gears,” she gets a producing credit along with playing Riley, the estranged daughter of a classic-car restorer and recent widower (Tim Allen) who tenuously reunites with him while raising her children.
On the personal front, there also has been a big development for Dennings in recent times. She married singer, songwriter and music producer Andrew W.K. in the fall of 2023.

Q: I know Keanu Reeves has had quite the career since his “Bill and Ted” days, but whatever happened to the guy who played Bill?
A: More than you think, and it’s still happening for him.
Their career paths have certainly diverged since co-starring in “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” (1989), but at the time, Keanu Reeves (who played Ted) and Alex Winter (who co-starred as Bill) were on similar teen-star trajectories. Reeves came into the film after a supporting role in the prestige drama “Dangerous Liaisons” (1988) and a lead role
in the comedy “The Night Before” (also 1988). But Winter had an arguably more impressive entry on his resume, a role in the smash-hit 1987 horror-comedy “The Lost Boys,” which featured a who’s-who of young heartthrobs at the time.
Reeves, of course, went on to even bigger roles (most notably the zeitgeist-capturing 1999 sci-fi hit “The Matrix”), while Winter’s biggest roles were the various Bill & Ted revivals (starting with the bigscreen sequel, “Bogus Journey,” in 1991 and capping most recently with 2020’s “Bill & Ted Face the Music”).
But that’s partly because he shifted immediately toward behind-the-scenes
Remy (Patton Oswalt) dreams of becoming a great chef, despite being a rat in a de nitely rodent-phobic profession. He moves to Paris to follow his dream and, with the help of hapless garbage boy Linguini (Lou Romano), he puts his culinary skills to the test in the kitchen but he has to stay in hiding at the same time, with hilarious consequences. Remy eventually gets the chance to prove his culinary abilities to a great food critic — but is the food good?

Q: I feel like I’ve seen the other stars of “Schitt’s Creek” in other things since, but what’s the actress who played Alexis been doing?
A: You could argue that Annie Murphy should have been the easiest “Schitt’s Creek” alum to keep track of, since she went straight back into another network sitcom.
While “Schitt’s Creek” co-star Dan Levy (“Good Grief,” 2023) went on to feature films, and her on-screen parents, Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara (both of “SCTV” fame), went back to being guest star extraordinaires, Murphy took the lead role in the edgy AMC sitcom “Kevin Can F**k Himself.”
The series was a very meta, self-referential show that presented two perspectives on the life of a neglected sitcom wife as she tried to put herself first for a change. It was simultaneously a traditional sitcom and a satire of that very type of show (the title was clearly a reference to the earlier sitcom “Kevin Can Wait”). Unfortunately, it only lasted two seasons on AMC and AMC+ before ending in 2022.
Since then, Murphy has diversified a little. She did a guest spot on the weird improv comedy show “Murderville,” as well as a spot on the even weirder sci-fi drama “Black Mirror” in 2023.

This season, the coaching panel will feature “The Voice” veterans and newcomers alike, each bringing their own expertise as a powerhouse in the music industry. Returning to their chairs are coaches John Legend (“All of Me”) and Michael Bublé (“Everything”) — the latter of whom earned his first win in Season 26, alongside singer Sofronio Vasquez — who welcome back Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine (“Memories”) after his six-year hiatus from the show.
First announcing his return for Season 27 on Instagram, Levine told his fans: “Season 27, yes, I’m coming back; I’m so excited. I cannot wait. I’m well rested. I’m ready to go. I’m a little nervous — I’m not nervous — but I’m so excited. It’s going to be great, and I can’t wait. It’s going to be awesome, let’s go! Team Adam is back!” Cheekily, he added: “I feel bad for other teams.”
One coach, however, won’t be returning for this next round of competition. The ever-popular actress and singer Reba McEntire (“Reba”) has made her exit from “The Voice” after appearing on seasons 24 to 26, earning herself a win in Season 24 when contestant Asher HaVon stole the show. Now, Reba’s

cowboy boots will be filled by another country sensation, singer Kelsea Ballerini (“Cowboys Cry Too”), who makes her debut as a coach after serving as a substitute for Kelly Clarkson (“Because Of You”) during the show’s 20th season. Ahead of last season, host Carson Daly (“Last Call with Carson Daly”) spoke with Awards Radar, sharing a sentiment that still rings true. “People thought [The Voice] was never gonna work, and not only did it work, but it’s lasted for 25 seasons,” he said. “So I think that’s really the crazy part ... we’ve been able to keep an audience interested, and tweak the show and let the format evolve by adding steals and those little features that kind of make it exciting again. Every time it’s on, it feels fresh.” Will it be Legend, Bublé, Levine or Ballerini who takes the crown? Tune in for Season 27 of “The Voice,” starting Monday, Feb. 3, on NBC.
