• 2007 graduate was a four-year ace for the L-P softball team & 2007 NT Softball Player of the Year

• Finished senior season 18-1 with a 0.55 ERA, 270 strikeouts & just 27 hits in 127 innings

• Starred at Quincy University, where she struck out 1,539 batters, which was at the time an NCAA Division II record

• Holds QU career records for wins (95), innings pitched (930 2/3) & shutouts (46); single-season records for strikeouts (524), wins (30), innings pitched (307 1/3) & shutouts (14); threw 10 no-hitters, three perfect games & had 1.14 career ERA

2 Red Cross blood drives to be in Putnam County in April

The Red Cross will hold two blood drives in Putnam County in the month of April.

The first drive will be hosted by the Methodist Churches from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Goldasich Hall in the McNabb Fire Department, on Illinois Route 89 south of McNabb.

The second drive will be co-hosted by the Putnam County High School Interact Club and Putnam County Rotary and will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 21, at 402 E. Silverspoon Ave. in Granville.

Both drives will offer a chance for repeat and first-time donors to donate blood. The PCHS Drive also will earn Red Cross Scholarship funds to be awarded this spring.

Tickets on sale for ‘9 to 5: The Musical’

Tickets are on sale for the River Valley Players’ production of “9 to 5: The Musical,” which will have five performances from May 4 to May 7 at St. John XXXIII Community Center, 1301 Second St. in Henry.

The production, based on the 1980 movie, premiered on Broadway in 2008 and is about three unlikely friends who take control of their office by creating a plan to get even with their egotistical boss.

Music and lyrics for the show are written by Dolly Parton and the movie and musical scripts were written by Patricia Resnick.

Two show-only performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4, and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 6. Traditional dinner-theater shows will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, and Saturday, May 6, and 12:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7.

Show-only tickets cost $20 a person and dinner-theater tickets cost $40 a person.
