Lesniewski never planned on opening a boutique, but when opportunity came her way, she decided it was the direction to take. She graduated from Fulton High School in 2015 and received a full-ride scholarship to play volleyball and softball at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg. She graduated with a degree in mortuary science in 2018 and worked as a funeral director and embalmer up until 2022, when her daughter was born.
In 2020, she started making jewelry as a hobby and shortly after began selling her creations to friends and family under the name Homemade Hippie.
In January, she registered her home-based business as an LLC and decided it was time to open a storefront and make her vision a reality.
“I knew what kind of store I wanted, but it was just about finding a great

She taught these two subjects for two years at both Rochelle High School (Illinois), and Grand Rapids Christian High School (Michigan), before retiring to become a full-time stay-at-home mother to three children: Elizabeth, Theodore, and Jonathan. A romantic at heart, she married the same man twice. Sherry first married Don Whitmore in 1961 as a new bride, and then again in 1985 in an historic hand hewn wooden Wedding Chapel in Nashua, Iowa. They would share 35 years of marriage together; he then preceded her in death in the spring of 2002. Sherry cared deeply for the people around her, whether they were patients, neighbors or family. Her smile was easy, genuine and heartfelt. She will be remembered for the

Mardelle is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Charles; her three children, Elizabeth and husband Brent Haines of Oak Park, Illinois; Theodore of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Jonathan of Anchorage, Alaska; and two grandchildren—Wesli and Murphy Dykstra also of Anchorage—and their mother, Julia Dykstra of Cleveland, Ohio.

As a young mother, she was very active in her children’s activities and proudly supportive of all of their adventures then and now. In the off-season from her tax business, she and Andy traveled often around the country. She looked forward to the annual Blues Cruise events and spending time camping with the many friends she & Andy had made over the years.

Transient global amnesia or temporary loss of one’s memory is discussed
By STEPHEN D. HARRISON, M.D.
Transient global amnesia refers to a temporary loss of memory that cannot be accounted for by other known conditions. Accordingly, stroke must be considered, as well as certain types of epilepsy or seizures. The name is a bit of a misnomer because it is not entirely global. Most people remember their name, their family and other circumstances from the past. They simply have a block of time that they cannot recall.
The time period is usually only a matter of hours, which is why the term transient is employed. The process is rather sudden Also, normal cognition is retained, which includes the ability to name familiar objects and to follow tasks. There is no paralysis or impaired word finding or recognition as might occur in a stroke. The return of memory is usually gradual and total memory loss is usually no more than 24 hours. However, events happening during the incident are generally lost to the person forever.
Frustration often leads an individual with transient global amnesia to question “What am I doing here” or “How did we get here.” It is important to note if the individual has experienced any recent
head injury. The source of the experience likely will not be found, but on occasion exposure to extreme hot or cold water, strenuous physical activity, even sexual intercourse, medical procedures or emotional distress may precipitate this condition.
High blood pressure and high cholesterol are not risk factors, although migraines and being 50 and older are of some risk There are usually no complications from the condition. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to prevent the process either. However, because the condition can mimic very serious conditions such as a stroke, it is important to be checked out immediately, including the emergency room, if your provider feels that would be best.
Depending on the concern between the patient, family and provider, there may be either a period of observation or a workup to check for other conditions. This workup might include a referral to a neurologist. Tests that might be performed under certain conditions include imaging of the brain, such as a CAT scan or an MRI or a brain waves study known as an electroencephalogram or EEG.
Again, the prognosis remains quite good.

Morrison battles back but Sterling finds its groove
By TY REYNOLDS treynolds@shawmedia.com
The first time through the batting order was a sort of feeling-out process by the Sterling Golden Warriors.
The next time up, they pounced.
The Sterling Warriors scored multiple runs in each of the final three innings in a 14-4, six-inning win over the Morrison Fillies on Wednesday afternoon in Sterling.
The energy kept building thanks to two-out RBIs Sterling (13-4) scored half of its runs with two outs.
Marley Sechrest started the trend with a two-out, two-run single in the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Katie Taylor and Lily Cantu each had two-out RBI hits in the fourth inning. Cantu, Sullivan and Lauren Jacobs added three more in the fifth.
After Sechrest staked Sterling to a two-run lead in the first, Ellie Leigh made it 3-0 with a solo home run on the first pitch in the bottom of the second. Morrison pitcher Jordan Eads got the next six outs in a row. She needed only five pitches to get through the third inning.
Bella Duncan cut the Fillies’ deficit to 3-2 with a two-run home run in the top of the third, just clearing the center-field fence with a high fly ball after fouling off the first four pitches of her at-bat, including a pair of tough twostrike pitches from Sterling starter Sienna Stingley.
“I was going to try and capitalize on the mistake. I knew I was going to get a
lot of pitches around the plate, so when I got the one that I wanted, I finally took a good swing and hit it hard,” Duncan said. “Everybody definitely started to gain more confidence after that, and we went into the next inning with more confidence than we’d had the whole game.”
Sterling reasserted itself in the bottom of the fourth.
Morrison tried to battle back in the top of the sixth off reliever Leigh. Eads
led off with a hot smash to third that bounced into foul territory for a double, then went to third on a wild pitch and scored on BayLeigh Brewer’s single up the middle.
Allie Anderson hit a one-out grounder to second base that was misplayed for an error, then went to second when the throw back into the infield went to third to try to nab Brewer. Folkers followed with a sacrifice bunt, but Leigh tried to throw
Brewer out at home and the throw went high. Anderson went to third and Folkers took second on the play.
“I feel like we’re pretty good at coming back when we get down a little bit. We never give up or stop playing hard,” said Brewer, who had two hits. “We came in knowing they were good pitchers, and we knew they were going to be [pitching] on the plate, so we had to be swinging.”
Leigh got another comebacker for the second out, and when Anderson took off for the plate on the throw to first, Stingley fired home to Sechrest in plenty of time to tag out Anderson and end the inning.
Eads gave up six runs and seven hits in 3⅔ innings, striking out two and walking two.
Folkers allowed eight runs (six earned) and five hits in 1⅓ innings, with five walks.
Despite the loss, the Fillies weren’t too disappointed with the experience of playing a strong Class 3A team on the road.
“We didn’t have anything to lose coming into this game,” Brewer said. “I feel like all you’ve got to do is give it your best shot.”
“We’re glad we played this game, and we definitely learned that when we have one mistake, we can’t have a snowball effect and let it cause multiple mistakes,” Duncan added. “Obviously, mistakes are going to happen, but you have to shake them off. That’s the biggest thing that we learned as a team in this game.”
