Gary L. Fritsch, 84 of Tampico, died Saturday, December 17, 2022. Gary was born on March 9, 1938, the son of Cecil and Maime (Hollis) Fritsch. He married Patty L. Tornow of August 19, 1956. She preceded him in death on August 27, 2013. Gary was the owner and operator of Fritsch Home Heating for 30 years. He was a past member of the Tampico Fire Department. Gary loved his family and the time he spent with them. He was quick witted and will be remembered for his jovial personality.
Survivors include his two sons, Tommy L. (Melodie) Fritsch and Rodney A. (Ronda) Fritsch; three grandchildren, Traci L. (Ben) Sandrock and Terra L. (Allen Joe) Wittenauer, and Emily N. Fritsch; five great grandchildren, Breanna (Caleb), Ethan, Sean, Connor, and Erica; one great great grandchild, Adalynn; and two step great great grandchildren, Jacqueline and Andrew.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; one son, Corey D. Fritsch; two brothers; and two sisters.

JUDITH “JUDI” SCHAVER
JUDITH “JUDI” SCHAVER, 81, of Fulton, IL, died Thursday, December 22, 2022, at her home. Her memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Rev. Jake Ritzema, Associate Pastor of Outreach at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, and Rev. John Byker, retired pastor, co-officiating. A memorial visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton. Memorials have been established to Beacon of Hope Hospice and Unity Athletic Boosters.
Judi was born April 29, 1941, in Clinton, IA, to Joe and Gertrude (Venema) Huizenga. She was educated in the Albany grade school and was a graduate of Fulton High School. She then received her nursing degree from Moline Public Hospital. She married Harold P. Schaver on February 22, 1963, in Fulton. Judi was employed as a nurse at Morrison Community Hospital for 48 years, retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton. She enjoyed being outdoors, particularly gardening and doing yard work. She also enjoyed baking, especially making cookies. She loved taking care of people and was incredibly gifted at it. Judi’s greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. In the last few years, Judi was cared for by her granddaughter, Lydia and also by her family.
Survivors include her husband, Harry; one daughter, Kristine (Kevin) Wiersema of Fulton, IL; one son, Philip (Laura) Schaver of Fulton, IL; five grandchildren, Clayton (Kendra) Wiersema, Cody (Ashley) Wiersema, Evan (Kelsey) Schaver, Nolan Schaver and Lydia Schaver; five great-grandchildren, Maddex Schaver, Oaklee Schaver, Nash Schaver, Ellie Temple and Vivian Meadows.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon “Butch” Huizenga.
DONNA JEAN VAN ZUIDEN
DONNA JEAN VAN ZUIDEN, 83, of Portland OR; formerly of Fulton IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at St. Andrews Memory Care
in Portland.
Donna was born on September 24, 1939 in Clinton, IA to Alvin and Anna (Noordt) Medema. She was a 1957 graduate of Fulton High School. She married Harvey Van Zuiden in June 1957 at First Reformed Church in Fulton; they were later divorced. She worked as a receptionist for many years, at Trichardt Chiropractic in Fulton IL and Community Mental Health Services in Clinton IA. She then worked in the Clinton High School cafeteria.
Survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Van Zuiden of Portland,OR ; grandchildren, Noah and Sarah Brown, both of Portland, OR; one sister, Carol Parker of San Diego, CA; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Christopher Van Zuiden.

BHC k icks off $40.8 million renovation project at QC campus
Black Hawk College is poised to begin a $40.8 million renovation project this month at its Quad-Cities Campus in Moline.
As part of the college’s Facilities Master Plan, Building 3 is scheduled to undergo a major renovation that will include science and health career labs, athletics and fitness spaces, classrooms, faculty offices and the BHC Police Department.
The three-story building on the west side of campus will have limited accessibility until the project is finished in mid-2024.
The BHC Police Department has moved to the Sustainable Technologies Building on the east side of campus (accessible from Lot 1 off 70th Street). The Athletic Department has moved to Building 1, and the Hawk’s Cupboard food pantry has moved to Building 4. Lot 3 (the parking lot west of Building 3) will be closed for parking and used by construction.
The gym will be accessible for athletic events during construction except May 15, 2023 to Aug. 1, 2023. The Health Sciences Center and adjacent Lot 2 will remain open and accessible during construction.
Built in 1971, the renovated Building 3 will include athletics/fitness facilities, campus police office, food pantry, training room, eight natural science labs, four health science labs, seven science prep and storage rooms, five classrooms, a computer lab, faculty offices and a new entry.
The pool closed in 2020 and the space will be the new science labs that will relocate to Building 3 from Building 2.
GREGORY “BUBBA” M. RASER
Born: May 14, 1951 in Morrison, IL Died: December 19, 2022 in Prophetstown, IL
GREGORY “BUBBA” M. RASER, 71, of Prophetstown, IL, passed away at his home on Monday, December 19, 2022. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the Prophetstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Joey Garcea officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2023, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home in Prophetstown. Memorials have been established to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center and Prophetstown United Methodist Church.
Greg was born May 14, 1951, in Morrison, IL to Charles Dale and Sheila (Crow) Raser. He was educated in Prophetstown Schools and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1969. He began his career with Commonwealth Edison in 1972, at the Quad Cities Generating Station in Cordova, IL. He later transferred out to the overhead crew retiring after 35 years of service. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathy Dennis, on May 13, 1972. In May of 2022, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Greg was involved in Coon Creek Jaycees/Men’s Club for many years and received multiple awards. He was a member of the Prophetstown United Methodist Church and a member of the FSB online racing league. Greg was an avid NASCAR fan as well as a Washington Redskins fan. He enjoyed tinkering on his Oliver tractors, ‘57 Chevy, and his pride and joy, a lime green 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. Greg enjoyed his Sundays on the pontoon boat or at Possum Hollow Pub with his buddies. He was a huge supporter and #1 fan of his grandson’s band “Alborn”. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He treasured his time spent with his children, grandchildren, and Mr. Cooper.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; three children, Mitchell (Casey Lewis) Raser, Jeremy (Gayla) Raser and Kelly (Jeremy) Brooks; his loyal companion: Mr. Cooper; nine grandchildren Erika Raser, Alex (Caylee Morgan) Raser, Addison (Logan Housenga) Raser, Aaron Raser, and Gabe Bohms and Braiden, Koby, Jakob, and Ellah Brooks; one sister, Susan Raser; one brother, Bryan Raser; mother-inlaw, Betty Dennis; sister-in-law, Linda (Chris) Heminger; two brothers-in-law, Jim Dennis and Mike (Sandy) Dennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
