Celebrations features weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and other happy news, such as birthdays, reunions, and four- or five-generation photos. As a special way to preserve these memorable occasions, quarter-, halfor full-page announcements can be purchased. Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than 125 words for a quarter page, no more than 250 words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page. Those paying for announcements will have the opportunity to proof them before publication. Customers will be called when the announcement is ready to be proofed. At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed at SVM’s Dixon and Sterling offices. For convenience, proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible. Photos may be submitted in color or black and white, and in any size. Emailed photos should be in JPEG format with a resolution of 200 and a width of at least 5 inches for best quality. All announcements can be printed without photos if desired. Celebration forms are available at the Telegraph and Daily Gazette classified departments or by email. School Reunion

Family Gathering Oltmanns Family

Lee County Country Schools The last Lee County Country Schools reunion was Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018. Memories of one-room country school days and a potluck dinner were shared by those attending: Beverly Beams, Joyce Underhile Gibson, Shirley

Smith, Jean Reed, Lois Krieger, Shirley Pitzer, Marilyn Shippert, Erin Meyer, Dick Meyer, Bette Dahl, Eva Cowley, Ginny Morris, Ed Morris, Mary Ortgiesen, Claude Ortgiesen, Katie Ortgiesen, Garry Ortgiesen and Dennis Dimmig.

A gathering of the descendants of Oltman and Marie Oltmanns was Saturday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2018, at Stover Park in Milledgeville. Oltman Jurgens Oltmanns and his new bride, Marie Katherine Bruns, came to America in 1868 from Germany. They lived south of Rock Falls and had a family of 10 children, five boys and five girls. Activities for the afternoon get-together included sharing stories, snacks and pictures of the families. Featured was a 10-foot family tree, which included five generations. Everyone enjoyed finding their branch and having their picture taken next to the tree.

Guests were present from Morrison, Prophetstown, Sterling, Polo, Mount Morris, Sheffield, Stillman Valley, Lanark and Roscoe; and Bettendorf, Iowa, McFarland, Wisconsin, and Arroyo Grande, California. Correspondence shared with the family was from Prophetstown, Rock Island and Sterling, and St. Louis, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Birmingham, Alabama, Gretna, Nebraska, Wahpeton, North Dakota, Elmira, New York, McGregor, Minnesota, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, Lakewood, California, and Colorado Springs, Colorado. We hope to have another get-together next year. Call 563508-1986 for more information.
