Happy Birthday Dorothy Miller
Former Harmon resident to celebrate 90th birthday On Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, Dorothy Miller will be an amazing 90 years young! She was born Dec. 21, 1928, the youngest of 11 children, to Richard and Mabel Burt in London. She grew up in a loving household doted upon by her parents and elder siblings. She was just 3 months shy of her 11th birthday when World War II broke out. She has told us vivid stories of growing up in the London suburb of Ealing during the blitz. Her family endured nightly air raids, taking
shelter in the underground subway system. After the war was over, she was introduced by two of her girlfriends to handsome G.I., Paul J. Miller, from the sleepy farm community of Harmon. He was serving in the Air Force outside of London. They quickly fell in love, and married on April 24, 1954, in London. They returned to Harmon, where they began their married life, farming until moving to Sterling in 1966. Six children were produced from that union. Love of God and family
always has come first for our parents. She enjoyed her retirement until the Illinois winters got a bit too cold, then relocated to Phoenix to live with daughter, Monica, and her family in 2012. In Arizona she also enjoys the company of her son, Paul, and his companion, Patty, who have lived in Tucson for many years. Mom came of age during the momentous war and post-war years in England, spent her young adulthood as the bride of the man of her dreams, and matured into
a loving mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. We have been blessed to spend so many years in the warmth of her love, her humor, and her wise guidance. Please help us celebrate her wonderful life and send her birthday greetings on this milestone 90th birthday! She would love to hear from her family and friends. The wedding form should be returned preferably within 2 to 4 months after the wedding date. those attending are not available in the free format. Photos also are not available for a free announcement, but can be used in any of the paid announcements. If a large group photo is submitted, only one can be used in the quarter-page format, one photo is recommended in the half-page format, and up to four normally can be used in the full-page format. Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement. Note: A group photo for a class reunion only can be submitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to photos@saukvalley.com or in person. For publication in Celebrations, class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarter-page format at no charge, with a photo allowed.
