Employee of the Month
Our September Employee of the month is Mike Reittinger. Mike has worked at WCPT since April 2024. He loves meeting all of the patrons we service and he loves giving back to our community! Mike always has a smile on his face, has a positive attitude, and his laugh is contagious. Congratulations, Mike!
Board Meeting
We want to thank everyone on our
of this year. This workout includes some senior-friendly cardio. Check it beginning October 2 at 11 a.m.
Miss Laura, our events manager, will be leading a make-and-take Halloween craft on Thursday, October 3, at 1 p.m. — you won’t want to miss this! We are very excited to bring a beginners Euchre class to the Center beginning this month. If you have always wanted to learn how to play, or used to play a bit but you’re rusty, come to the Center at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays in October and learn from the experts! A big thanks to Joe for volunteering his time to teach others what brings him joy! Make sure to check out the new arrival section of our library: Volunteer David has been working hard to bring new books to the Center library! Let us know your favorite authors to help David as he brings our library up to date!
Open Enrollment for Medicare Part D will soon be upon us. If you haven’t scheduled your appointment yet, give us a call and our receptionist will schedule one for you. Don’t forget our Medicare: Your Questions Answered workshop on October 9 at 5:30 p.m. at Palmyra
Pub and Eatery, 628 Palmyra Road in Dixon. This is great for those of you who are still working, or if you want to learn about the changes this coming year in prescription coverage. We are ramping up staff to be able to assist in our satellite offices for next year. Look for our announcements in the new year.
Entry forms for the Gingerbread House Contest will be available at the front desk this month. That’s right — we are bringing back the beloved tradition of the Gingerbread House Contest at the Center. Entries must be at the Center by 4 p.m. November 27 – start collecting ingredients now! The houses will be on display at our Music Trivia Contest Fundraiser on November 30. Tickets for the fundraiser will be available at the door for $5. Doors open at 6 p.m. and trivia starts promptly at 7 p.m. — but that’s not all! We are bringing back the traditional Santa’s Workshop for kids on December 7. We will start taking donations of gifts and signing up volunteers for this starting October 1. (We will have a Seniors Santas workshop on December 9). It will be all hands-on deck November 18 as we
transform the Center into a beautiful wonderland for the holidays during our second annual Deck the Halls party.
We are excited to partner with the Extension Office and Dixon Rehab for our Caregiver Workshop on November 4. Kara, from the Extension Office, will present a workshop, Communication Challenges and Strategies for Helping People with Dementia. Dixon Rehab will provided an activity for the loved ones while the Caregiver participates in the workshop. You can also come meet Dixon Rehab staff on November 1 as they sponsor Family Feud.
