Summer seems to have come and gone. With the next school year quickly approaching, we wanted to remind you that our buses fill quickly! Last fiscal year, we provided just shy of 50,000 rides, which
means we’re always on the go. To ensure we can get you where you need to go, please call and schedule a ride in advance. During the school year we become increasingly
busy and may not have same day trips available. We recommend calling at least one day in advance or as soon as you know you will need a ride. Our transit services are available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. We have 22 lift-equipped vehicles and provide curb-to-curb assistance. Do you need help getting into your home? No problem! You
Before I close ... LCCOA would like to send a thank you to the Lioness Lions of Dixon and to Harrison Insurance for their donations. They stepped up to the plate; they understood the need for an AC. Our seniors and residents of Lee County know they can count on LCCOA to help them through this hot and humid summer. Thank you again for your support. We still need help to pay for the AC so please drop a dollar or two in the mail. LCCOA is always grateful for your donations. Until next time, LCCOA a place where you belong a place to call home. – Susan

Just as the weather is heating up, so is the action at the Ballroom. The month of May began with a few upgrades. We have painted our back entrance and added some décor. Our sound panels have been reupholstered to a beautiful natural color, and all of our woodwork has been cleaned and polished. The new Lawless memorial garden in the front enhances the beauty, providing yet another great photo opportunity along with our front entrance. We can’t forget replacing our air-conditioner – that was not as much fun but very necessary. We have just a few items knocked off our list with many more to come. I tell our clients it is a big-city feel without the big-city price. The Ballroom has been busy hosting weddings, bridal showers, business meetings and receptions. The next few months promise to be just as exciting with many weddings booked, and we’re looking forward to 2020 dates. However, please don’t forget about the rest of the year. Keep the Ballroom in mind for your holiday plans. It’s never too early to get the dates you want locked in! Let’s not wish the warm weather away, but the next season is right around the corner.
14 and a Collection FUNDrive on Aug. 15. Please see our ads for more information, and please join in the fun! Enjoy! Maureen Eccles, Post House Manager Lccoaevents@comcast.net

OUTREACH DEPARTMENT
Should You Take Medicare Part B if you are still covered under employer coverage?
This question has become more frequent, especially as some newly eligible Medicare beneficiaries find themselves working past age 65, or are covered under their spouse’s employer insurance. Before coming to a conclusion, you need to first ask yourself the following questions: 1.) Am I actively employed and covered under my employer coverage, or spouse’s employer coverage? 2.) Does my employer, or my spouse’s employer, have 20 or more employees, and would my employer coverage be the primary payer? 3.) Is my employer coverage con-
sidered “creditable coverage” or, as good as Medicare coverage for Parts B & D? The best advice is first to talk to someone in Human Resources or a benefits advisor through the employer to see how the employer insurance works with Medicare. We encourage you to contact the SHIP Counselors in the Outreach Departments at LCCOA or WCSC for further questions and assistance. LCCOA at: 815-288-9236 and WCSC at: 888622-9230 Ext.194. v a e h I E v s e n r o i h t ad! a c a It’s One of the Best V Immediately following my discharge from CGH for a total hip replacement, I came to Regency Garden Unit for extended skilled care. A patient in my condition is nearly 100% dependent on others for assistance in all areas of life. When I handed over my care to your staff I did so with the belief that they would take care of me and that they cared about me as a person. The entire staff followed through in every way possible with respect to my beliefs, that they would take care of me and would do so in a manner that demonstrated they cared about me as a person. You have much to be grateful for in the staff you have. I extend my deepest gratitude to all staff at Regency Care for the part they had in my healing.

“I moved to Resthave 9 months ago to be closer to my daughter and I’m so glad I did. Everyone including the staff and residents are genuine and friendly. They made me feel at home right away. I have made some friends and have had great conversations. There are activities everyday and I especially enjoy fitness. The food is good and you have a say in what you eat, which is a plus. I loved what I saw the minute I walked in the building. The facility is clean and bright. The staff is very nice and care about you.”

SOUTH DAKOTA TRIP
BINGO!

A wonderful time was had by all at Mount Rushmore, Badlands, Black Hills of South Dakota, Deadwood, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Wildlife Loop, and of course the famous Wall Drug. It rained on the way, but the weather was beautiful the rest of the trip. So much to see, and the history behind the incredible views! The tour was quit enjoyable.
Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the Whiteside County Senior Center! Actually, this was a red hen, and it spent 2 days at the center until we helped find her owner, thanks to social media.
