Clinton Symphony Orchestra to perform in Morrison next month
The Clinton Symphony Orchestra will present “Stories in Music,” a family concert, at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Morrison High School Auditorium.
The popular afternoon time for last year’s family concert has returned this year, but this time the concert is on a Sunday.
Opening the concert is John Henry vs. the Machine by Jim Territo. Next, imagine the giants of the past with Bryant’s Dinosaurs: A Primeval Symphony, followed by Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor. Also featured will be the winner of January’s Young Artist Auditions.
Students always attend for free, while adult tickets are $20. An adult ‘brought’ by a student may enjoy a half-price ticket by mentioning the offer at the ticket table. Purchase tickets and learn more about the Clinton Symphony and this concert at https://ClintonSymphony.org.
Whiteside County Senior Center offers new meal program
The Whiteside County Senior Center will be providing a free community meal once a month for the senior residents of the county.
The first meal of the new program will be from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 27 at the center’s Sterling location at 1207 W. Ninth St., the center’s director Susie Welch said in a news release.
Reservations are not required. This is a dine-in meal. Diners can avail themselves of leftovers.
The Sterling and Rock Falls Walmarts, Farmers National Bank, Sauk Valley Food Bank and other volunteers are partners in the program.
