MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS | MEMPHIS, USA

MUSEUM OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ARTS Project Title: Museum of Photographic Arts Project Type: Individual Work Location: Memphis, USA Description: This is photographic arts museum for the famed photographer---William Eggleston. The museum is located in the South Main Historical District in Memphis, USA. The design intent is that respect and response the surrounding existing buildings, which extract out spaces to be a quiet and enjoyable courtyard and rooftop garden. Also arrange the exhibition space between the street and courtyard to have a variety of experienced museum view. The architecture is alive, like a human being. It has its own thought, meaning, and soul. Design a Museum of Photographic Art is going to regard the museum as the carrier of transferring information, culture, and spirits. In my opinion, museum is a place that allows people easily and comfortably

appreciate the collection. Look through William Eggleston’ s Democratic Forest, he focuses on the actuality of the mundane world, the essential matters of human presence, and sensitive of using various colors. Therefore, my idea is that design a photographic museum could deliver the culture and spirits of Eggleston’s work to every visitor, also make every visitor could involve into the museum. No matter what their background is, no matter how much they know about William Eggleston, no matter how much they are interested in him. Once they experience into the museum, they will have the opportunity to learn photography knowledge, understand the Eggleston’s work, enjoy the Eggleston’s collection, and communicate their opinions with each other.

Lighting for Aging People 1. Bright White. Exposure to bright white light during the day improves sleep efficiency by decreasing nocturnal activity and severity of evening agitation. 2. Blue Light. Imitating blue sky during the day, reduces production of melatonin to keep the user alert and awake 3. Ambient Lighting. The subtle glow from the warm lighting eases light to dark adaptation. When kept on during the night, the light can reduce accidents while still maintaining sleep.
