Born in February, 1995. 2014-2018 B.English Zhujiang College, South China Agricultural University Four years ago I thought I might be a designer, but I chose another road. I never thought I could still get a glimpse of the view of the road of being a designer, until one day I was frightened about the situation I was in -- being confused and struggling, and I decided to jump out of my comfort zone.

I got a chance to take part in a human center design campaign. The researches, toolkits, observation, interviews, teamwork all made me feel that I found my passion, life value, and social value. Though I never received systematic training of design, I have faith I could do my work well. During the period of English learning, my favorite part is to deconstruct the characters' behavior and characteristics. Humanism is an important part of my life.

SERVICE DESIGN

Maybe my portfolio is not as brilliant as other candidates' work, but I enjoy the whole period of the work which brings me a huge inner change.

the Underground APP & DEVICE

For most passengers, the underground is merely a means of transportation, or even a place that often triggers negative emotions. I wonder if it is possible to transform the subway into a lively, interesting underground community.

In order to understand the true reasons why Chinese people do not like reading and the behavioral habits when people take the subway, I did a research study consisting of two different types of questionnaires, in which 70 subjects of varied personal backgrounds and age groups gave their feedbacks.

Yes It depends

Chinese people like to read the book but not read on the underground, however, they still have needs to read in this kind of space like some short words (advertisements, slogans, ect.). Compared with straightforwardly advocating reading, I decided to let people get access to inspiring sentences quoted from books, so as to stimulate more people's willingness to read books. Moreover, most people are willing to share their reading reviews, which means a connection among readers/people interested in a certain book can be built.

Through user journey mapping, we can understand the different passenger behaviors and emotions generated during the trip, as well as how these emotions are influenced in different stages. Hence, the user journey here is divided into two parts before/after getting on the subway and on the subway.

Other thoughts:

1. Besides transportation functions, the subway system can also become a real-time venue for social contact.

When take the underground...

because: want to do nothing no emotional bond with strangers

feel bad about:

because:

waiting too long time and boring

the environment and situation is as same as everyday

Afraid to miss the stop

no personal station reminding

no personal station reminding too close physical contact

Normally when I encounter good-looking guys on the subway, I want to talk to them. But I was always be shy and do not brave enough to have a communication directly.

Other thoughts: During commuting, I am more likely to become upset in return trips. Maybe because the physical and mental fatigue makes unhappy thoughts appear in my mind. I want to find people who have the same experience like me to talk, but, how?

2. People have the need to communicate with others, but lack a suitable platform and trigger point. 3. The announcement system on the subway can only serve the public, not the individual. 4.The same environment brings same experiences to people at different times, and we can create a platform for people to vent their emotions.

SERVICEs OVERVIEW

But on my way back home, negative emotions emerge frequently, which is normally induced by the environment. Tiredness and the crowded subway carriage always make me feel depressed, which then leads to discontent in my life. Meanwhile, when my mobile pho ne runs out of power, the journey will be extremely difficult for me, sometimes I will read the words of advertisements and warning marks, but they are too boring.

2 Nanna Suitcase APP & PRODUCT

The convenience of transportation has made the world smaller and smaller, so the long-distance travel has become normal. During the travel, the suitcase has become an indispensable equipment for everyone. However, due to different travel needs, the number of traveller's articles will change accordingly. People seem to have no choice but to buy different size of luggages. And because of the limitations of the luggage itself, it sometimes becomes a burden for the travelers.

3 Way 2 U APP

For young people, the future always seems inviting and confusing, and they can only get to know different occupations in different fields with bits and pieces of information collected from the outside world. Although it may not be a complete picture, people are still becoming what they want to be. However, public stereotypes for these occupations and titles also follow, which may become a thrust force along the growing path for some people, or obstacles for some other. Then, how can we better navigate our own path?

BACKGROUND

RESEARCH

In China, children often receive the idea that “you have to have lofty dreams” in traditional schools and family education. If not, they will be regarded as unpromising kids. However, most people never realize the fact that the “loftiness” has always been merely a definition given by the society. So what should individuals do about their own dreams? How can they live the utmost to their ideal selves?

Questionnaire The questionnaire was conducted to study the opinions and demands of teenagers regarding career planning, which also involves research about whether full-time employees, as the experienced people, have similar demands. Conclusion: 1.People usually adopt single methods to obtain occupational information and determine whether or not a job is suitable. 2.Most people hope to know about the existing occupations and occupational fields in the society at an early age, but schools fail to provide sufficient guidance. 3.Statistics show that 32% of the full-time employees have experienced changes in the career development path.

I think career planning is not really necessary

How do you determine whether a career direction is suitable for you or not?

What is your opinion on the career planning guidance for students offered by the school?

1. How important do you think it is for someone to do career plan and find a goal through practice? 2. Why did your ideal change?

Firstly, I will see if I am interested. Then, I will think about its development prospect and whether or not my own conditions are suitable. But I can only make decision based on my own opinions, because no one can communicate with me about such topics.

Personally, I think if you want to find a suitable occupation, you should just explore directly. Besides, most people found their paths in this way, and they are doing pretty well now.

They are important in different ways. A career goal is the driving force for someone to realize his life value. You can practice and experiment on different directions, so as to have a deep knowledge of a certain occupational field and discover your own interest. Loneliness is the normality of life, but people are social creatures. Some people can balance the contradiction between reality and genes well, and many people failed. If we can help people who are unable to cope with loneliness to get out of the unhappy, perhaps it is helping the species-"human" become stronger.

DATA ANALYSIS

BACKGROUND INSPIRATION

Although everyone feels lonely, the reasons behind loneliness vary greatly. Also, as the duration of loneliness varies, different emotional influences are brought to a different number of patients.

Loneliness is a normality in people’s lives, but why do people feel lonely?

Evolutionary theory of loneliness

Loneliness originates from the punishment of Zeus who split humans in half.

Loneliness comes from some defects in a person’s social relationship.

Loneliness is a key factor driving the formation of social bonds.

Loneliness stems from the incompatible contradiction between individual and others.

John Cacioppo proposed the evolutionary theory of loneliness.

SITUATION IN DIFFERENT COUNTRY Since long-term loneliness may influence the physical and mental health conditions, and may even cause people to end their lives, more and more people and countries are paying attention to the topic of “loneliness”.

1. From loneliness to depression is an accumulative process, so if we can offer some guidance to those in Phase 1 and Phase 2, there will be less people reaching Phase 3. 2. Scientific research reveals that the susceptibility of loneliness derives from some negative views and observation methods. If we can help lonely people to better deal with their pessimistic ideas, thus enabling them to see loneliness in a more positive way, then loneliness will only stay in Phase 1 which is free from exterior influences.

CONCLUSION

In order to have a detailed understanding of people’s cognition of their own loneliness, and their opinions on their lonely status and loneliness itself, I conducted a test and a questionnaire on loneliness on the subjects.

Test/questionnaire correlation: Correlation data reveal that some people have cognitive bias regarding their levels of loneliness, which is shown as follows:

5 The Great Attractor EXHIBITION What is desire? Perhaps it is something caused by the dominating surge of hormone in biological body, or an importance manifestation of humanity. There are countless forms of lust in the world. When people are accidentally devoured by lust, they suffer the consequences of being enslaved by a certain form of lust. There are slaves of time, slaves of gluttony, slaves of fame and wealth, slaves of Eros, slaves of life, etc. Meanwhile, when people begin to fight against these forms of lust, the result is usually unsatisfactory. Then how should we deal with lust? The Isha Yoga may have the answer to this question.

BACKGROUND

My three kinds of desire

Lust is the basis of everyone’s existence. As lust produces pain, people begin to regard it as the enemy, but this is not the truth. When people oppose themselves against lust, it is very likely that they will not be living a satisfactory life in the future, because they have overlooked that lust is the very component of life. sketch

inspiration

Then, I began to wonder if the only meaning of life left for sex addicts is orgasm.

Women who only have the lower part of the body

I decided to plan an exhibition themed in desire using relevant things, so as to let visitors see that they are the “root” of their own lust, and therefore don’t need to feel guilty for having a moderate amount of lust. The exhibition aims to help visitors rethink about lust through a series of interactive experiences, and then spend more energy in exploring their own inner trust. In view of this, it also helps public service organizations dedicated to individual self-improvement to do brand promotion and publicize their internal exploration projects.

#1. Rational desires

money success time knowledge fame dream become popular

#2. Emotional desires

It reminded me that lust, like a prisoner’s cage, pleases some people to death.

material love read book sunshine watch films freedom listen music

19/10/18 - 22:17 I heard some groans when I was burning the midnight oil.

#3. Sensual desires

Similarly, lust also cages some others and makes them remorse to death.

Like myself, I crave for the pleasure when my lust is fulfilled, but I usually blame myself after that, which indicates the conflict between sensual/emotional desires and rational desires. Over time, this conflict may trap me in depression.

When faced with different kinds of desire, our value judgment often falls under the influence of many social, cultural, and religious factors. Due to that, we begin to criticize on ourselves, easily lose our direction on the road to “self-redemption”. So, a variety of activities and organizations with the purpose of liberating the mind of people have emerged. Isha Yoga is one of these organizations.

space definition

layout and purposes The exhibition room is arranged in a spiral layout, indicating that both life and desire are like a vortex which, once set in motion, takes people to an unknown place. Due to the various forms of lust, I derived seven themes based on the desires I frequently have, namely: SEX, TIME, APPETITE, LIFE, MATERIAL, FAME AND GAIN, and EGO.

5.As the person grows, the desire for various materials emerges. 6.Often, in order to satisfy material desires, one needs to pursue fame and wealth first (especially the latter).

ROOM 1 SEX

ROOM 2 TIME

7.After the ultimate outward desire—the desire for fame and wealth—is satisfied, one will eventually return to the root of all desires; we must understand that we find it so agonizing to oppose to lust because we are the carriers of our own desires, and fighting against lust is in fact fighting against human nature. Finally, I hope to inspire visitors to explore more reasonable ways to deal with desires.

ROOM-3 APPETITE:

Through establishing a connection between living creatures and food, I want to let visitors have a deep feeling of the contradiction between desire and emotion.

ROOM-4 LIFE:

The game and interactive installation are designed to show visitors that every bit and piece of life is a collection of lust.

Through making objects like mirror, I hope visitors can think more about “excessive material desires that surpassed life demands”.

The up-and-down stairs and the video in first-person perspective make visitors have a firsthand experience of the fluctuations along the path for fame and wealth.

ROOM-7 EGO:

1. The intense visual effect provided by different kinds of distorting mirrors stimulate visitors to think more about their “inner selves”. 2. The interactive installation set at the terminus creates a sense of ritual as visitors end their journey of exploring lust.

ROOM-1 desire of SEX

In the room with a wet floor and steaming with moisture, there is a mirror stained with handprints, misplaced clothes, dim lights, and a pair of specially shaped earphones playing love words and love songs.

The speaker plays the sound of breathing and faint groans.

Route

The ceramic tiles in Changing Room 1&2 are printed with screenshots from erotic films and put together into mosaic strips.

Route 1

The humid, hot temperature is designed to make visitors want to take off their clothes. Then, they enter Changing Room 1, leave their clothes with the staff, obtain the number plate and key to their lockers, and dive in the pool.

The diving is divided into two parts: straightforward diving and diving in the transparent space. The water-proof screen surrounding the pool plays videos about the formation of life. Meanwhile, visitors wear water-proof earphones equipped with a heartbeat sensor, so that they can hear their own heartbeats while diving. The pool symbolizes the conception of new life following sexual desire, which imitates the feeling of inside the mother's womb.

After coming out of the pool, visitors can return the device and get bath supplies. Then, they can retrieve their clothes with the number plate and key.

Inside the bathroom, there are four private bathing & changing spaces without partition.

In the corner, a part of the floor is covered in to-do lists, which is connected to the memo stickers hanging on the wall.

The transparent heat-resistant material forms a strip-shaped space against the wall, parallel to which are the warm and cold light-spots (each taking up 1/2 of the range of light) moving in circles around the strip-shaped space. The light-spots form the trajectories of the sun and the moon. The temperature at the warm light spot is above 80 degrees Celsius, while that at the cold light spot is below 10 degrees Celsius, which can be used to melt and consolidate the candles. Switch valves are scattered on every wall, which can allow melted candle wax to flow out, so that people can make creations combining the features of melted candle and sand.

The wall is decorated with the Twelve Zodiac Signs, which can be extended to the frequently discussed behavior disorder in the modern society—procrastination. Among all the stars forming the twelve constellations, there is one shaped in the sign of Virgo, meaning that most procrastination cases are caused by perfectionism, which is a typical trait of Virgo. All procrastinators, despite their Zodiac signs, all possess the trait of Virgo.

The wearable VR device is used to view a video which lasts for less than three minutes about the formation of universe and the Earth.
