Journey Begins Your
Young Living Essential Oils
Welcome-
I cannot express how excited I am that you are about to embark on this exciting journey known as Young Living! You are making such a smart decision getting started with Young Living Essential Oils! This welcome packet has been created to help you being this journey. There’s a lot of information out there and even oil veterans learn something new every day. Our goal in Young Living is that you take the time to learn about these oils and incorporate them into your DAILY routine. Do not just get them out in a time of crisis. While they are fantastic for those incidents, you will actually see your “times of crisis” diminish if you approach this as a lifestyle change. The goal is constant living above the wellness line and having the tools you need when you do fall below that line. Become PROACTIVE rather than REACTIVE to what your body is telling you. Our team is truly here to help you on this journey. If you have any questions, please reach out to me right away or anyone in our oil community (the oil communities are explained in more depth later in this booklet). I may not know the answer, but I know how to find the answers and will get to you right away! We all love, love these products and take great pride in helping others also change their lifestyle for the better and fall in love with these products in the process! If you find yourself bragging about your awesome new oils to family and friends (and it will happen!) and they mention that they want to try them, too, shoot me a text or email and I will help you be the one to equip them with their own starter kit. You will benefit from this as well! Young Living is an incredibly generous company and sharing your love for it with others is easy (I’m talking, SUPER easy as it comes up naturally in conversation when someone is talking about an issue). Helping others live healthier, happier lives is our number one goal. So...the journey begins. I am so excited about your decision to begin this experience. Happy oiling and I look forward to hearing about the ways the oils are transforming your life!
How to Use Essential Oils
*Store aromatic oils and oil recipes with carrier oils in a cool, dry place in dark amber or colored glass bottles. Fatty oils can become rancid and storing mixtures in these containers will keep your oils from becoming rancid.
Carrier Oils: When possible, choose organic, lesser refined carrier oils. Storing carrier oils in the refrigerator or a cool cabinet of the home will help them last longer. If your carrier oil or blend you have made ever smells rancid, DO NOT USE IT. Be sure to always label the name of the blend you are creating, plus it’s ingredients and the date you made it. A separate journal or notes is a helpful way to keep up with this information (keep journal with your oils for quick and easy reference). Make sure to have a dropper bottle labeled for each carrier oil for when it comes time to making a blend. Many times the amount needed for the blend come in drops, not teaspoons, tablespoons or ounces. Common Carrier Oils: Almond, Avocado, Coconut, Grapeseed, Jojoba, Olive, Rose Hip Seed, Sesame, Sunflower, YL V-6 Oil, Wheat Germ
INHALING: You can inhale directly from the bottle or you can diffuse. Diffuse: Follow diffuser instructions (make sure to pay attention to whether or not it says to use distilled water!). If you’re lucky like me and live in Little Rock, water straight out of the tap is perfectly fine and you don’t have to use distilled water. There are some diffusers that say to NOT use distilled water. Just be sure you read the instructions so you get all the benefits of the diffuser. Topical Application: Follow directions (VitaFlex points, spine, naval, etc.). If the oil feels “hot” when you apply it directly, dilute it with a carrier oil. Ingestion: Before ingesting, study the oil and follow instructions on how to properly ingest.
Your Personal Starter Kit Lavender – in the diffuser for relaxation and reduced stress, on cuts and scrapes for quicker healing; also helps sunburns, dry skin and cramps. This is the most versatile oil. Can be diffused or applied topically. Also wonderful in the bathtub. Lemon – mood lifter and energy booster; also helps with bloating, brittle hair and nails, household dirt, and respiratory relief; a drop or two in a glass of water is delicious. Can be applied topically, ingested and diffused. Peppermint – (use with caution on young children – should be very diluted in a carrier oil) helps with improving a body that has fallen below the wellness line, low energy, digestion, soreness and odor. Can be applied topically, ingested and diffused. Frankincense – wrinkles, stretch marks, sun spots, stress, swelling. Can be applied topically and diffused. Frankincense applied to the tip of the tounge and then pressing the tongue to the roof of the mouth has been found to help with the onset of overwhelming emotions. Oil Resources - Books The most recommended book when asked is the Essential Oils Desk Reference book (the best place to get this book is https://www.discoverlsp.com). Surviving when Modern Medicine Fails by Dr. Scott Johnson is great. But it is mostly a book that tells you what to do for different ailments. This can be found on Amazon.com. For using oils with kiddos, Gentle Babies by Debra Raybern. This can be found on Amazon.com.
Oil Resources - Apps Where do you find info on oils? Why does it seem so many people can answer a question ASAP? Below you will find some resources I use DAILY. The very first place I would (and did) start is by getting the app "Reference Guide for Essential Oils." It costs $6.99 but is worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY. It is broken down in six sections: Guide (this is where you look up specific ailments, etc.), Application (this is where it tells you how to apply, explains Vita Flex points, etc.), Single Oils (this explains each oil), Oil Blends (explains oil blends and benefits), Notes, and Store (I have no idea what this is to be honest with you and don't use it--I just use Quick Order at Young Living to shop). There is honestly not a SINGLE day that I don't go out to this app, either for myself or for family/friends. Another app (this one is FREE) I think you MUST have is called "Think Dirty." This app allows you to scan your every day products and see the toxicity rating of that product. Think Dirty is committed to helping consumer identify the potential risks associated with the personal care products used in homes every single day. It can be alarming at first once you start scanning your every day products, BUT it's ok! Because you live the oily life--you can replace those harmful products with natural products and oils! YAY!
