BUILDING A BETTER FUTURE
Project: easyHotel
Birmingham
Client: easyHotel
Ltd
Value: £3.5m Location: Birmingham
Birmingham’s first easyHotel
Our easyHotel Birmingham project involved refurbishment of the Grade II listed Rosebury Building to provide the city centre with a modern ‘super-budget’ hotel. Converting the former nightclub into 86 en-suite bedrooms, works included the full fit-out of rooms alongside the installation of partition walls, ceilings, floor coverings and fire detection services. As part of bringing the building back to life our team also cleaned and restored windows and stone cladding to give a brighter look and feel to the hotel. The Birmingham hotel was chosen as easyHotel’s first launch of 2017 due to its central location and close proximity to shopping centres, nightlife, transport hubs and a variety of cultural attractions.
Project: The
High Field
Client: Calthorpe
Estates
Value: ÂŁ1.5m Location: Birmingham
Situated in Birmingham’s prestigious Edgbaston Village, the project involved the full strip out and refurbishment of the Grade II listed building, transforming it into a gastro pub and restaurant in the heart of the lifestyle and leisure community. The ground floor walls were adapted to create an open space for the new bar and restaurant, incorporating both new steels and the reinstatement of cornices and current features. Externally, repairs were made to the main roof and landscaping works were completed to allow the formation of a public car park.
Award winning gastro pub
Throughout the works it was essential to maintain a balance between refurbishing and modernising the building, while also retaining specialist historical features such as plaster cornices.
Project: The
Edgbaston
Client: Calthorpe
Estates
Value: ÂŁ586,000 Location: Birmingham
The Edgbaston was our fifth major refurbishment project for Calthorpe Estates, transforming a Grade II listed building into a high end boutique hotel comprised of six luxury en suite bedrooms and three cocktail bars. The fit-out included the provision of a bespoke art deco inspired bar consisting of light fittings, mirrors, a stone bar feature and hand painted artwork to the ceiling.
Exclusive cocktail bar and boutique hotel
Air conditioning was fitted throughout the building, alongside new kitchens, full IT and media functions to all bedrooms and fire insulation works. To provide the client with the luxury high-end finish desired, close liaison was maintained with the interior designer throughout the entirety of the project.

Project: The
Belfry
Client: KSL
Capital Partners
Value: £6m Location: West
Midlands
The Belfry Hotel and Resort project involved a three phase programme designed to restore the resort’s reputation as a world class facility. The project involved a series of fast track refurbishments and remodelling works to the restaurant, kitchens, bar, main lobby and external entrance. In addition a new Pergola was fitted within the grounds and a new Sureset resin bound gravel path was laid to match that provided in phase one.
England’s most hallowed golfing venue
The remodeling of the entire Manor House Lobby, which involved a complete strip out and refurbishment, including re-tiling, new suspended ceilings, new floors, wallpapering, full mechanical and electrical installations and new sliding entrance doors, was successfully completed in just six days to ensure minimal disruption was caused. This was achieved through the erection of temporary hoardings in active areas, alongside the scheduling of 24 hour working shift patterns.
Project: DoubleTree
by Hilton Client: Arena Coventry Limited
Value: £2.6m Location: Coventry
Situated in Coventry’s Ricoh Arena
The DoubleTree by Hilton was delivered over two phases and included the refurbishment of 121 bedrooms, the main reception and lobby and the formation of a new gymnasium. During phase one, we created two ‘mock up’ rooms which were approved by the client and resulted in a further 74 guest rooms undergoing refurbishment. The works were completed on a turnkey basis and included new wardrobes, beds, tables and chairs, curtains and bathroom facilities. The hotel remained operational throughout the work, with minimal disturbance to staff and guests. This was achieved by working on a small number of rooms at a time which upon completion were handed back over to the hotel before progressing further.

Project: Swan
Wing Theatre
Client: Royal
Shakespeare Company
Value: £1.8m Location: Stratford-Upon-Avon
The Swan Wing is the only remaining element of the original 1879 Shakespeare Memorial Theatre which burnt down in 1926, and is a Grade II listed building. The works comprised comprehensive conservation repairs of the external and internal historic fabric, a refurbishment and alteration of the internal finishes and fit-out of the interior as an exhibition space. External conservation works included an initial Jos clean, micro air abrasion to finer detail works and the entire roof was replaced with new Westmorland slate with associated lead work and bespoke glazed rooflight, to match the existing roof of other areas of the building. Internally all stonework was cleaned by conservators with some minor repairs and complete redecorations throughout.
