Location: Columbus, IN Term: Fall 2012 | Year 4 Professor: Gregory Palermo FIGGE COMPETITION WINNER Through the idea of visible connection, I created sight lines within the site and its surroundings. The building receives its form from this visible connection to the neighborhood and is anchored within the sight lines that occur through the rest of the building. Each window is continued throughout the entirety of the structure, adding a conceptual transparency.

A copper tower to the south of the main collection building houses the industrial objects. This tower monumentalizes these objects and the idea of innovation, just as Columbus holds innovation and progression to such standard. The perforated faรงade of this tower then adds another level of transparency to the building, allowing visitors to see from the tower to the main museum from anywhere in the structure.

Pilsen Library

Through a series of abstract making exercises we investigated the idea of individual identity. Each persons identity develops in a progression and this progression creates a story which is hidden from public exposure.

10

Until stories are uncovered, each person remains a piece of the general public, blending with the rest of the world. Through making, we aimed to represent the uniformity of the human race and the variety of hidden identity. These objects allowed us to explore the neighborhood of Pilsen and eventually lead us to form.

Flex[able] Jazz Hall

Through a series of operable facade systems and removable seating, we created a flexible performance space for the neighborhood of Hayes Valley.

16

This flexible space begins to blur the lines between interior and exterior performance.
