SAMPLE

CONTENTS

This sample portfolio offers a snapshot of my academic work in architecture, featuring selected projects that explore residential, community-based, and conservation heritage designs. Each project reflects unique responses to the challenges and objectives set by my professors. All drawings and visualizations, created using software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Enscape, Photoshop, and Illustrator, are my own, showcasing both design exploration and technical skills. While this portfolio highlights a few key works, a comprehensive version, including additional projects and detailed insights, is currently in progress.

01 CENTRALE URBANA

A RESIDENTIAL AND COMMUNITY HUB FOR URBAN RENEWAL

Located on the site of the former Centrale del Latte in Pavia, this project reclaims an underutilized urban space, transforming it into a vibrant, community-oriented development. The design introduces two interconnected volumes linked by a glazed central body with a butterfly roof, emphasizing its connection to the adjacent piazza. At the rear, a public park features a sunken basketball court, managed by a ground-floor gymnasium. The architecture is defined by its dynamism, with cantilevered, asymmetrical upper floors and a refined material palette of glass and reinforced concrete. The upper levels house 92-square-meter loft-style apartments, while the ground floor offers a multifunctional sports center and a 60-cover restaurant. Inspired by Cino Zucchi’s Novetredici complex, the project blends contemporary design with community-driven functionality.

02 PORTA NUOVA

REINTERPRETING HISTORY THROUGH CONTEMPORARY URBAN FORMS

The project is located along Viale Melchiorre Gioia, an area historically influenced by the Spanish walls and industrial rail infrastructure. The design draws from an urban analysis using the Schwarzplan map, aligning the volumes with the historical fabric and primary road axes. Four distinct volumes are distributed on either side of the avenue: on the northwest, a 15-story luxury residential tower integrates with a low-rise building housing a hotel and restaurants. On the southeast, a linear multifunctional exhibition space parallels the tower’s adjacent volume, accompanied by low-rise structures for offices. The inclined alignment of the blocks reflects the orientation of the Spanish walls, creating a symbolic “Porta Nuova.” This composition not only reinterprets the historical context but also establishes a new urban gateway, linking the past with contemporary urban life.

03 SAN FEREORTO

The project in San Fereolo, Lodi, reactivates the site by placing the Kitchen at its heart, symbolizing cultural and social exchange. Three silo-inspired towers, elevated above ground, house spaces for workshops, community events, and outdoor dining, marking the centrality of food and communal gathering. At the ground level, a sunken piazza accommodates weekly markets and a hybrid market-restaurant, where surplus produce from Lodi’s open-air markets is stored in a food bank and reintegrated into the local economy. Surrounding this space, a productive landscape with orchards, aromatic clusters, and a vertical garden exemplifies sustainable practices such as crop rotation and pollinator attraction. This design fosters a dynamic relationship between urban and rural ecologies, positioning San Fereolo as a distinctive territorial marker and a focal point for sustainable community engagement.

04 CONSERVATION & REUSE

RECLAMATION AND ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION: THE FORMER CARAVAGGIO HOSPITAL

The Vecchio Ospedale di Caravaggio, located in the heart of Caravaggio, was studied with a focus on its portico (campata portici). A point cloud was used to trace architectural elements and create a CAD drawing. Metric rectification in QGIS corrected perspective distortions, ensuring a fronto-parallel view. The facade image was aligned with the CAD drawing using precise X and Y coordinates, and control points were used for accuracy. The rectified image was re-imported and adjusted for layer alignment, though metric rectification proved less effective for features like balconies. Mappings of material degradation were performed accord-

ing to the norma UNI 11182 guidelines, which regulate the assessment of degradation in architectural surfaces. A material study was also conducted.

05 OTHERS

These hand-drawn sketches come from my personal notebook, created during a university-organized walking tour across Milan that explored the city’s architectural evolution. The sketches capture buildings spanning from the eighteenth century to the late twentieth century, illustrating the city’s diverse architectural styles. Each sketch represents my firsthand impressions of selected buildings, including their façades, plans, sections, and conceptual diagrams, formed through on-site observation and subsequent study.
