THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Mumbai has rapidly evolved within a short span of time

transforming into a

global metro

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

It is catching up with other global metros in most socio-political aspects and infrastructure

but Mumbai has a gaping deficit of

art in public spaces.

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Art that gives

the city

a face, sometimes

even a

voice

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Mumbai’s landscape has evolved vertically but its visual symbols have not evolved since The Gateway of India Queen’s necklace Rajabhai Tower Victoria Terminus And a handful more

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

The tragedy lies in the fact that all of these were established in the colonial era In other words, only the perception of Mumbai has changed while it’s physical symbols have remained frozen in the pre-independence era

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Mumbai needs new

symbols that not only

resonate

with its people but also

wow the world

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Symbols that create new

revolutionary extensions of

Mumbai’s identity

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Symbols that are

iconic and

relevant

to inspire the new generation

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Symbols that are accessible

to admire, to learn from,

to share, to feel part of the heart of mumbai

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

The Mumbai Landmark Project proposes to establish 12 modern-day marvels and monuments as permanent art installations across the city created by some of the finest minds in India and the world

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

Each landmark or symbol

will involve the citizens either before, during or after its creation to make it a

locally loved and globally recognized expression of Mumbai city.

THE MUMBAI LANDMARK PROJECT

The Mumbai Landmark Project envisions a symbiotic Public Private Partnership framework in which: Artists collaborate with the citizens to develop and realize engaging ideas for public spaces The Government of Mumbai contributes with permissions and support to build in proposed public spaces Corporations take ownership of the creation and maintenance of the landmarks
